Originally this was going to be a movie: The 'Talent Scout,' sends her test to a friend in Hollywood; her father learns the 'Scout' plans to take his daughter to LA. The 'Scout' ends up burned to death. The dead Talent Scout's friend from Hollywood shows up with a contract for her; she burns her father's house down with him in it and goes to seek fame and fortune in Tinseltown. (Because you went to the trouble of seeing it all and commenting, I thought you deserved the rest of the story.)
