In our praise of this guy as a wonderfully insightful and articulate scientist, we shouldn't forget that he was also an absolutely first rate historian too. The historical narrative in this series is magnificent.
I often stop and think how much more advanced we would be if not for religious powers actively destroying all things scientific. It agonizes me that we allowed ourselves to be so ignorant and blind, and still continue to do so to this day.
I love this series of videos. It was first released back in 1980 on PBS. When I watch COSMOS, I not only see ad hear it, I can feel it. COSMOS is the most beautiful and inspiring program I have ever seen. Who can possibly top this?
When i looked at the stars when i was 13 years old, i knew , that timetravel is possible. Even when humans, yet have not the knowledge. Still i was looking at the past of several stars at night, because light travels with a certain speed. I was looking at their past. And they were looking at our past. The cosmos is large. We are not alone anymore. Thanks to ....
Seeing a genius such as Sagan in that 6th grade class was such an awesome thing to me.. I was amazed to see the kids so enthusiastic about other worlds as I am. Terrible thing that my generation is so ignorant to such things.. It saddens me so greatly... Can there be so few people like me left? So few people of my generation and younger who are truly inspired by this?
@callumAS not at all mate. those are only 2 overweight kids (not fat) among 30 in the classroom. now a days american schools are not even close to that rate...
I saw this while randomly looking for other stuff - ended up with tears.
Moon (the movie) and Cosmos makes me cry.

Carl was a very cold guy he sits in Greece with his jacket and pants on, when the greeks behind him has t-shirts and shorts on, and they sweat.

I'm profoundly jealous of those students. I wish I could have had Sagan visit my school when I was a kid.

Mr. Sagan is a visionary and a guru. I would have loved to have him as a teacher. Dude is cool even if he dresses like Mr. Rogers.

We need Carl Sagan more today than ever. I am sure he would have a few words on our space program in 2011.

@maximilianitoaguirre The Cosmos series was filmed in 1975. It is by far one of my favorite TV series ever that has yet to be matched in quality.
