  • God, I wish we only had a 87 billion dollar deficiet. We could do that standing on our heads here in the U.S. sounds like Canada has it's shit together for the most part

  • Canada keeps Americas head warm

  • lacrosse isn't canadian

  • @interstellarwonder What? He didn't say it was, he said it's our national sport...

  • @14Schofield i thought hockey was the national sport, i know , i live here too

  • @interstellarwonder Sadly it isn't, our national sport is Lacrosse, for some stupid reason.

  • @14Schofield hhm at least we can kick some american ass with it lol

  • @interstellarwonder anyways it was a joke, canadians who get offended at my joke should brand their own asses with ILA - i love america

  • Lol. Canada is like Australia with colder weather :P

  • @elstado1 we have a less racist country as well.

  • Beware of immigration lawyers who tell you not to look for jobs until after you finish your application. They do this to prevent you from finding out that there is no jobs in Canada, because they want you to complete your application so you pay all their fees. They fear you will suspend the application in the middle and they will lose money if you discover the lack of jobs.

Immigration to Canada is a scam and rigged with corruption at all levels.

  • @TimGottschalkYale

You can set up a business as long as it is not some of the regulated professions i.e engineering, doctor, accountant, and others. If yours is regulated you first need license, which requires exams, fees and "Canadian experience" for which you first need to find a job! You should check for your profession at "Business Canada" web (google it) but it can be a long, difficult and costly process so check very carefully

because you may find you cannot work after you arrive.

  • @reuven1967 Not sure if troll or just fucking retarded

  • Beware of immigration agencies in Canada. They operate as follows: When you want to ask for any help they ask you to register first. Then they give you panflets, interviews and workshops for "job search". ALL BULLSHIT. Nothing they do help

you find a job. Then they take your registration details and use them to get money from the government. Doesn't matter you received no help, they still receive their money. It's another scam from Canada. AVOID THEM.

  • Those who want to immigrate to Canada beware: what the government says is very different from what really happen once you are there. There is no recognition of anything from abroad. You could study in Oxford or Harvard, your credentials are still NOT recognized. Your previous experience is not recognized by employers, it's all BS. Don't believe what they or immigration lawyers tell you, they only want your money. Send your resume to Canadian employers and see how many responses you get: ZERO.

  • ...but didn't care.

  • The Canadian Jon Stewart, bless you Ricky Mercer.

  • @Kryptonian250 Rick Mercer does a waaay better job than Jon Stewart ever will

  • @pachidermo Really? There both great in their own way.

  • too bad people from the west don't understand how democracy works... I mean there were blaming the other parties of wanting to destroy the parliament when in fact they were just doing their Job of reprensenting the rest of canada saying : we don't agree with you Mr. Harper...

  • why is there a pair ofv legs on the t.v

  • Holy Shit! Dejavu

  • Canadian Politcs it's sooooo confusing... but anyway Canada is Awesome!

  • The privilege to qualify to live in the green belt managed by NCC. Help me help you we are all about the environment. Cleaning the air we breathe, just look at what’s been standing in our way on airadvocates on youtube there are some cool stop motion videos. NCC General Meeting air-medics.ca/newadventures/ web site. Look what they been standing in the way of.

  • It's now the Harper Government, not Government of Canada, that's what they want it seems. Forget that he is the government of the people who elected him (Canadians), he's actually just Harper who has his government and keeps destroying Canada with his goddamned oil.

  • DOWN WITH STEVEN HARPER. MUTINY

  • on hold with rogers talk about it i've been waiting for the past 2 hours to get on the line with them

  • @Freepepsi42 count yourself lucky ... i've been on for four ...

  • @NOS604 wow and it's not any better with bell trust me, they had to send me to ten diffrent people to help me figure out how to open the back to the battary on my phone. This was my first phone so don't blame me.

  • I still dont get it, but I live here, so I dont have to!

  • This is actually the best short presentation of how the Westminster / Parliamentary system works.

  • Why not make rick the Prime Minister

  • @TheCanuck09 It's bound to happen...Governor General IS a former broadcaster. ;P

  • @TheCanuck09

Because he isn't the leader of any political party. :p

  • @TheCanuck09 he can't speak french ;)

  • The only thing I envy about the US is the fact that they're a republic. Canada's parliamentary system is unstable.

  • @RustySporks a bit instability isn't so bad .. it keeps them honest... only the governor general and the senate are bad things ... we'd be truly democratic if it weren't for those

  • This is one of the few countries where the Prime Minister is not elected, but it is imposed by a political party who can actually change the leader at any moment.....and a Constitution so broad than can actually be rendered meaningless in practice.....and can go to war - in our name - without asking anyone....

  • The Americans should look at this clip

  • Nobody wants to know anything about Canada. Nobody cares.

  • @jethrodassam Nobody cares about the US either but they seem to be very noicy about how great they are (As if).

  • @dave19941000 You can't avoid us. You watch our television, because your Canadian channels suck. I briefly live in Canada, so I know this to be fact.

  • @jethrodassam So why are 3 of the 10 most viewed shows in the US made in Canada? (Rucky Blue, Flashpoint, the Bridge).

  • @dave19941000 By American actors, because it's cheaper up there. I don't watch these shows. I have watched Flashpoint once. Is that still on the air?

  • @jethrodassam Flashpoint is #1 in Canada, #4 in the US and #6 in the UK.

Do you realize how many Canadian actores there are in Hollywood? Abour 100 times the number of american actors in Canada, and 80% of the actors in the 3 shows are Canadian.

  • @dave19941000 Of course. If you have talent you come to America. Not the other way around. You made my point for me. You're too easy.

  • @jethrodassam Fuck off, you come here if your a talented comidien, we have the comedy capital of the world.

  • @dave19941000 Comedy capital??? You're so delusional. Canadians have no sense of humor.

  • @jethrodassam You realize Montreal is "The funniest place on Earth" right, and it's to the comidy industry what Hollywood is to the Movie industry.

  • @dave19941000 People do laugh at Montreal for many reasons, even more so than the rest of Canada, but I don't think that's what you mean. LOL!!!

  • @jethrodassam Ah, who gives a fuck, people think where the same anyway.

  • @dave19941000 Yes, you are an extension of us, but some people don't like that label. I was watching t.v. with a Canadian friend, and she felt the need to point out the occasional Canadian. That's just sad self esteem.

  • @jethrodassam That may be true for most Canadians, but not for the Quebecois, we take pride in many things, like the fact we won 3 wars against the US, we're the only french speaking part on mainland north america, and we have a good economy.

  • @dave19941000 The French is worldwide known for being war cowards. We saved the Frenches ass. You won a war against the most powerful country in the world? Hahahahahahahaha Name one of these wars you delusional sick nutjob. ROTFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jethrodassam 1812. You tried to invade us then and on 2 other ocasions, and all 3 times we repeled you, and in the war of 1812 we gained a lot of territory from you, just the stupid treaty gave you back your land. You also tried to invade us during your war of treachary (You call in independance), but we repeled you. Remember 4 things, 1) the US wasn't the strongest country until the 1930's. 2) We are not French, where Quebecois. 3) The French have better soldiers then you.

  • @dave19941000 You weren't a country until 1982. You were under the crown. Canada has never won anything. Canada loves stealing credit from Britain. Grow up.

  • @jethrodassam And 4) you guys joined WW2 2 years late, so everyone was already tiered from fighting. Where your cities bombed every day for months, where you sending your youth to fight the Germans when the started the war, is your country respected because of your actions during tha war? No. Britain and the Soviet Union fought on there homefront, and Canada liberated Belgum AND the Neitherland, and we pushed the firthest inland on D-Day. You American did do your part, but you where 2 years late

  • @dave19941000 It wasn't our fight to begin with. You had to get involved because you're Britain's bitch. We had to end the war because nobody else could.

  • @jethrodassam We've been a country sents 1936 dumass, that's 2 years before WW2, or 4 years before the US got balls AFTER being attacked. And in all 3 invasion atempts by the US we needed to hold our own for 3 months so British reinforcments could arive, and we did, we pushed into your country and set up camp before they arrived. WW1 we where the best soldiers on the Western front (Can, UK, US, france) and WW2 we could have stayed out as we where a country, but we didn't, we helped out allies.

  • @dave19941000 Wrong again your country is 143 years old, but you haven't really been independent since 1982. But you still have apron strings attached to the Brits. You do whatever Britain tells you to do. You people have no will of your own.

  • @jethrodassam Britain has not asked us to do anything sents 1982, let alone told us to. 143 years ago we became a dominion, but now we are a fully independent country, infact where closer allies to the US then the UK.

  • @dave19941000 It would be nice if that were true, but you're part of the commonwealth.

  • @jethrodassam The commonwealth exists in name only, all it is is our leaders meet once a year like at the G8 or G20, and we have our own games once every 4 years (This year it's in India). And Canada is also part of La Francophonie, so what, are we part of France too?

  • @dave19941000 Well, besides our meaningless, silly little debate here, there are no two countries closer friends and neighbors than we are to each other, but it would be interesting if we went to war with Britain who's side you would take, if you had to get involved. It would never happen of course. What are the three less likely countries on Earth that would be fighting each other :D

  • @jethrodassam wow someone needs a life, you seem to have a really sick obsession with Canada for some reason, Its like some fatal attraction type shit. I just went on a couple random Canada videos and all the comment boards were full of comments from you. Have you ever been outside in your life? Its doubtful. Pathetic.

  • @jethrodassam to be honest we would probably stay nutral on that one and just say well there at it again.

  • @jethrodassam actually It was 1936 lol the queen of england gave us our freedom in 1936. The reason was world war 1 in world war one so many canadian got killed the queen of england basicly said we earned our freedom and she gave it to us.

  • @jethrodassam Where do you get these ideas? What profoundly bizarre things to say. Why didn't Britain "tell us" to attack Iraq???

  • @Gnickk Well, your small military has occupied Afghanistan.

  • sooooo we elect a party and whoever the leader of that party is becomes PM but that person answers to the governor general who in turn answers to that reptile we call the queen... yeah some democracy!

  • It's only by tradition the Queen or the GG is the head of state, the PM and the government has the true last word...

  • @pspboy7 no no tradition has nothing to do with it the queen rules the british empire and since over the last thousand years or so britain has invaded slaughtered and gained control of over 90% of the countries in the world she does indeed have the last say just about everywhere

  • Well, technically in that role she's the Queen of Canada, not the Queen of England.

  • Not really. I believe (I could be wrong) we're still considered a British Colony. Which would make us apart of England right? So technically she's the Queen of England, not Canada (in that sense)

  • @braddudeguy we are not a part of britain anymore we are our own country

  • @GrilledAngus I'm pretty sure far in very fine print we still are but not actually... Did that make sense? I know what I mean lol if you don't well I don't know how to explain it haha.

  • @braddudeguy Dude, did you travel from the future coming from 1981, shortly before 1982?

  • 3:40-4:02 is one of the reason why a parliamentary democracy appeals to me.

    Rick is awesome.

  • The Governor General seems to be neither a check or balance. Seems the position is nothing more than tradition, expense and red tape.

  • Rick Mercer should become PM and appoint George Strumbopolis Governor General

  • @LedHead1991 no rick odd to be pm

but we really dont needa governor general, like the queen gives a shit about canada

  • ya ok

  • Keep the monarchy otherwise ina few tyears you're going to be looking like something like the USA, which is not a good thing.

  • I agree. Besides, it's not like they really interfere with us or anything. I bet she barely even hears from us at all.

  • If there is any truth in this why aren't canadians upset?

  • We don't like confrontation, lol.

Actually, a lot of Canadians are upset, but this is our life, so what can you do?

Honestly, though, no one's government is perfect, and we're doing pretty well as a country when you look at the rest of the world.

  • @jennlady86 yeah were doing great

I mean we only have 500 billons dollars indebt and political system so dated and complicated nobody know how it works

  • They do teach the political system in school, and anyone who's really concerned about governmental affairs is free to learn how it works on their own.

But honestly, just check out the world stage - even compared to some of our closest neighbours, we could be doing waaay worse.

  • @jennlady86 we yes true thats where i learned about it

    its still overly complicated

our problem is that canadians are in many cases apthetic about government

  • There's a difference between, 1) not knowing how something works, and 2) something being so complicated that no-one can understand how it works. The majority of Canadians don't know how Government works because it is poorly taught in high-school and they forget everything after the final exam anyway. Not because it's complicated (it isn't).

And in this particular case, because the US elections being all over the news, Canadians thought (still?) that there system is ours. Fail.

  • Oh, we are.. those who are interrested are, at least! Sadly, lots of people don't give a shit about politics... so, Harper's gorvernments keeps on governing us like we are fools.

  • Really wished we didn't have a Queen. It'd be nice to be part of the commonwealth and all but it seems to be unnecessary bureacracy.

  • legit.

  • The day the Bloc comes into power is the day I become an American citizen!

  • that will happen never haha they would have to win all of quebec and then like ndp liberals and conservatives split across canada and some independants too haha

  • At least this time there's a new Liberal leader and I'll be able to vote during round three of the conservative minority.

  • I became canadian 3 months ago, I am so proud!!

  • Good to hear!

  • welcome to the club!!

  • @gasyceci good job!

  • @gasyceci Welcome Brother and/or Sister! I hope you build yourself a good life here...

  • @gasyceci Congrats! Got to swear my oath 17 years ago and still proud :)

  • so cute, glad I found it :)

  • I hope there's another election soon. Mr. Baby face needs to go.

  • lulz

  • i like canada!

    this is funny!

  • mercer is always a huge entertainment

  • He's my neighbour. Go rick mercer :D

  • rick mercer's your freakin neighbor?

  • Yup. Not next door, a couple down.

  • smarter people get humour better :P

  • It all depends on your sense of humour. To everyone I know, he's considered quite funny. Though we're all built differently with regards to humour.

  • @icetraigh who do you consider to be funny?

  • I don't know. Comedy, maybe?

Rick Mercer is a diet caffeine-free unfunny rip off of Jon Stewart. How that newf still has a TV show boggles my mind until I remember how many seasons Corner Gas got...

  • Rick Mercer is an individual therefore not a rip off of anybody. He still has a TV show because his viewers appreciate intelligent humour, not only that, but I usually learn something aboot Canadian politics at the same time, eh.

  • @icetraigh you hit the nail on the head man... I see this shit and corner gas on TV and I get a little sick

  • @icetraigh who the fuck u callin a newf u sorry excuse for a sack of shit. rick was on 22 minutes before stewart was on half baked u cum guzzling cock soar. fuckin mainlanders cant understand the fact that once u hit cape breton the iq starts dropping the farther west u go

  • lol

  • lol

some contries dont have that right

  • tres bon!

  • Brilliant. Thank you for posting, I saw that last night and wanted to share it with other people.

  • i love this - great refresher :P
