    Customer Reviews:

Most beautiful guitar I own. The sound is just as a tele is supposed to be. Guitar was shipped quickly, wrapped perfectly, and only needed to be tuned. The weight, feel, and action is unbelievable. Completely satisfied. The case that came with it is of the best quality. Thank you.

  • great tone. Ill say this though, you dont need to spend huge amounts of money bo get this sound. I can nail this tone with my 52RI Tele into my 65RI Twin Reverb and Garagetone Drivetrain pedal with the drive turned way down. Basically any Fender tube amp and a tube screamer type pedal will work. For the echo I use a Guyatone MD3 delay.

    Simple.

The rest is in the hands.

  • @cgravier sorry but you're dreaming!lol, accept about you're ri 52 tele, but the 65 blackface twin ri, can't do a tweedd job, and you can put all pedals you want, vintage amps are the best for this tone, but not all the tone !!

try vintage amp for clean tone with reverb, and you'll sell you're ri twin

by and sorry for my bad english

  • I think he looks like a cross between Gary Stewart, Eddie Van Halen and, yes...Neo.

  • Jim looks like Keanu Reeve's Dad.

  • I watch this at least once a day most of the time 50

  • nothing sounds as good then a fender through a fender

  • i love the look of his guitar! its as if every one of those scratches tells a story

  • I played my 1964 Fender Precision bass for 24 yrs...Never had to do anything except change the strings. It's in good shape...original sunburst finish. What would it bring at auction ?

  • A big part of Roy Buchanan's harmonics had to do with the fact that his rear pickup had gone microphonic, and only about half the windings were working on the coils. Don Mare makes a real good replica of Buchanan's pickups. Personally, I think there are a lot of better sounding modern pickups for the Tele, especially Texas Specials. I never thought much of the vintage ones. I DO like those old Bassmans though. That little Super Champ XD gets as close to an old Bassman sound as I've ever heard.

  • ive never seen or heard of this guy..but it DOESNT GET ANY BETTER THEN THIS!!!!

  • Classic!

  • Oh Paco de Lucia on Telecaster !!!!!!

  • robbie robertson from The Band???

  • Best tele sound ever :) no kidding !

  • she's a babe!

  • my dad have a telecaster from the same year and the wearmarks almost looks the same :)

  • @eetfuk96 that's sweet, they are worth like 100,000 although i understand the amount of sentimental value

  • Sounds a heck of a lot better than the tele's we can find in the stores today. Also lovely sounding bassman.

  • It's a shame that these guitars and amps can only be bought by rich tossers, lawyers and the rich these days. These instruments were made to played with attitude, not hung on the wall of some suit in the city.

  • @vitsamutsu I've been saying exactly the same thing recently myself....Leo Fender designed the Telecaster to be a budget instrument for your average working musician; I think he'd find the money they trade for now mind-boggling. As you say, the only people who can afford these guitars now can't play them...it's just something else to brag about.

  • Mmmm cette vidéo sent la lampe chaude et le médiator fondu...

  • Wow , what a tune !

I've allways love how he uses the volume or tone knob sometimes as a kind of vibrato.

He really found out, what is possible with a traditional Telecaster - guitar, so thank's for uploading this.

    Great "Mystery train" riff !!!

  • swells with the volume

  • man i love jim's generosity in showing all this great stuff/tricks but lord is he BURNT the f-out!!!

and this was in 1990 so he had plent of time to air out since the 60's :D

thanks for these vid's tho, we can tell you're just as cheezed out by it as we are. <3 <3

  • @YaySteaks Hahaha, makes Ozzy look sharp as a tack LOL.

  • I Love this - that intro!!!!

  • cooooool!

  • that amp kicks ass! its such a nice sound

  • Oh... how sweet! Thanks for this!

  • very informative video and brilliant playing.

and i go to ruin everything by stating that jim weider looks reminiscent of trevor from wkuk, doesn't he?

  • my dad got 2 '55 telecasters :) they sound awesome!

  • hahha "someone wrote a message here."

  • i always dug that tune. lmao

  • say vintage?

  • The first tele was made of pine!!! To most people pine is a crap wood. I think some need the Pepsi challenge of guitars. You will see a surge in Squire, MIM and Epiphone sales!!!

  • Its not all about the specs and woods, you can't forget the feel and craftsmanship in guitars. On paper a cheap Squire may look almost the same as a USA made Fender but in reality there is a huge difference in the build quality and the feel of the instrument. Frets might start to come off, screws may strip because the wood is such poor quality.

  • he looks like paco de lucia

  • Great sound

  • Tele's should only be made out of two woods. Ash or Pine... Alder is just a cheap wood that sounds decent. But nowhere as good as Swamp Ash or Pine!

If you don't know about the Pine Telecasters then look it up!!!

  • What is the a tonal difference beetween - "ash" like the heavy seventies guitars and basses and "swamp ash", which is much lighter. Thank you

  • The main difference is sustain and overall clarity in notes. I think the "heavy ash" sounds brittle compared to swap ash. The main reason, I believe, is swap ash spends it's entire life literally in a swamp, then it has to be dried for a very long time!!!

  • i have a mahogany telecaster with an all pau ferro neck. IT fucking sings dude

  • Sounds like a good combination! Is it setup like a Tele?

  • yes and no. Two pickups, bridge is an alnico 2 tele bridge but the neck pickup is a strat pickup and it has 4 way switching, single coil tap, and passive bass cut switch

  • Typical wood snobbery. You can't tell the difference of the wood through an amplifier, it's just too subtle, and within the species the wood varies so much that to say that you can tell the species from the sound is just idiotic. If you say you can you're lying to others and to yourself.

Another idiot comment is saying that it should be made of X wood or Y wood. As if it was a crime to build something different.

And the best tele ive heard was made of Steel, so your wood argument is invalid.

  • You don't even play guitar, do you?

You are basically saying that the wood don't affect the acoustic tone in an instrument. The wood also dries with age, so the tone changes over the years. The sound difference IS subtle, but definitely audible.

  • Actually i do.

Wood affects the tone in an acoustic intrument obviously because the intrument is amplified acoustically. Since in an electric guitar the pickups "pick up" the vibration of the strings, the wood used is acoustically of little importance.

The weight and elasticity of the guitar as a whole influences the vibration of the strings. But only in extreme variation of these can make the difference be audible through an amp.

    Keep rockin'

  • @Zebarbas e, no.

  • Also If you don't know about the Trussart steelcasters then look it up!!!

    Peace

  • Dude what's with those saddles, are they steel or somethin? I thought they were all brass back then!

  • I wish I could get a tab of this. Hot licks.

  • The intro tune is from The Band's version of "Mystery Train" from the Moondog Matinee, KILLER!!!

  • I've got a massive chubby right now!

  • groovy

  • this video makes me guitar horny

  • whats the song in the intro?

  • is this guy totally rich or what? look at all that gear!

  • i want the telecaster just got my american strat. but need that tele for that spanky tone.

  • I am the reverse of you. I got an American Standard Tele, now I am in the market for the Strat...

  • a gun, tooth brush, and a telecaster, don't leave home without it.

  • And a pair of confortable jeans.

  • @PopExpo You are right Bruce

  • @PopExpo Keep those teeth clean and those licks mean.

  • @PopExpo Keep those teeth clean and those licks mean.

  • You can buy his dvd's from Homespun Videos. Tey are all great, He has one a about classic fender tones and he uses all vintage Teles and Strats run though all kinds of old fender amps. Some relly good shit !!

  • that guitar is not an investment.... its a part of his arm.

  • I really neeed that equipment :| those new procesor shit is terrible

  • Hi,

well I believe it's a video from 1985 just before old guitars got popular.I put a lot of Jim's video's on youtube also this one but they deleted my account....

  • i wonder what year this video is?

  • The sale is young and his appearance of analog VTR , servant that still has it is young in around 1995 it perhaps.

  • I loved that last part where you showed the muting funk thing? I can't wait until my cheapie strat copy gets back from the music shop to try that.

  • thank you for putting this video up on youtube.

  • Thank you for this video. I have my grandfather's (what I believe to be 1957 Telecaster). We also had the Bassman.

Mine looks exactly like this one. Is there a way I can confirm the date? Again, thanks for the video, very enjoyable.

  • There should be a model number on the guitar you probably could find out what year it was made in.

  • I just want to touch that neck, see how it feels.

  • as a young player im sad that i wasnt alive back then to buy one of those! :-( beautiful guitar playin' as well.

  • the telecaster loos like the same that my sunsmile and i have to tell that sunsmile it´s the worths guitar in the world fender rocks!!!!!!!!!

  • ohh what a fucking DAMN SWEET TONE

  • lol @ mel tillis

  • my god

  • It doesn't get better than that.

    Thanks so much.

    Corkey

  • message on the tele?why?

  • KUN..no..I am NOT retarded lol..well maybe alittle.. I know what you mean...but...vintage doesnt mean "beat up'! it means used.Ill tell you what Ill show you my les paul 'gold top,,and then Ill light it on fire and piss on it, throw it out the window... and see if youll pay more after that!

  • how do you get to learn that kinda guitaring style?

  • listen to stevie ray vaughn/ brian setzer kinda stuff...learn some songs and then you should have a good idea

  • Man thats the worst Mel Tillis impression Ive ever seen!

  • If you don't baby your guitar you have an instrument that reflects the personality of the player and then you WON'T sell it.

  • @birdmankustomz666 A guitar is an investment, but the payback is the music that you make with it. There should be no concern as to what you're going to sell it for.

  • @birdmankustomz666 That's something a guitar collector would say, rather than a musician.

  • @amorical I fail to see how that is spoken like a collector.

  • @birdmankustomz666 Because a musician doesn't buy a guitar, and then worry about the resale value of it. They only care about the music that they can make with it. That is the value of the instrument.

  • @amorical I think we're trying to say the same thing, because thats basically my feelings on it as well, lol

  • @birdmankustomz666 That seems strange, considering I feel that your original comment is ridiculous.

  • @amorical He was saying that if you don't be too careful in making sure your guitar doesn't get a single scratch on it, it will start to reflect your personality. Therefore, you won't want to sell it because its personal to you.

  • are you retarded?

do you know how many people look for vintage beaten up guitars?

  • there are investors

    and there are guitar players

a lot of us guys bought old

    50's and 60's fenders

because that's all we could afford

  • That is a NICE Telecaster man. cool

  • Paul Asbell, funny. That guy used to play with Howlin Wolf and stuff.

  • the most beautiful guitar sound

  • i dont think they used this echoplex in the 50s , it looks like a 70s ep3 echoplex .

  • Did anybody notice what was written on the back? "To Dave - Treat this baby right Paul"

    haha! :)

  • very cool

  • very cool

  • you gotta love this guy -- he's so absent minded he probably forgot who he was at least 3 times during the whole video...

  • Probably the original owner from 1955? It adds to its classic worn appearance. Looks good!

  • I'm sure if he wanted to clean the writing off then he could.

  • dude, the more worn and broken in a guitar is, the better. I'm gonna plaster my guitar with my own writing, some stickers, and a few dents from treating it like a good friend. Dont' baby your guitars. Wear gives them character.

  • Whats this show ? Whose this guy ? Is Those guitars all his possesion ? Anyone has those answers ... ? Thanks !!

  • It's taken from 'Get That Classic Fender Sound' (a Homespun DVD). He's Jim Weider (ex-Band, toured with Dylan etc, etc) and no, I don't think they are all his guitars, but some might be.

    Hope that helps!

  • Thank you so much barrywonderdog !!!

  • bassman rules

  • The man says aam... or aa... on the vid like 39 times or so good vid thoug

  • this guy is very cool, a good palyer, maybe not a virtuoso.

    but great tone and licks

  • no way this cat's guitar skill bought him this million buck collection lol.

  • what's the song at 00:28?

  • What effects are you using other than the echoplex? Is it on all the time in this video? I am considering either a '59 reissue or an older Super Reverb. Pros and cons on these?

  • sell guitar vs ampli? MOney?

  • God I love telecasters, can't wait till I get my 52 reissue.

  • this guy digs robbie robertson. good man.

  • who doesnt!

THE NIGHT THEY DROVE OLD DIXIE DOWN and other great band tunes!

  • io sono pazzo per le chitarre di una volta... specialmente per le fender... qst mi piace un sacco.

  • bellissima telecaster!!!!!!!

  • I'm almost sure that all teles (and strats)still had ash bodies by 1955, someone correct me please if I'm wrong.

  • Yup, your right... from a Fender info website: "Mid 1956 to current: All models used Alder as the body wood. The ONLY exception to this is if the model had a "blond" finish. In that case, the body would was ALWAYS Ash. For example, since the stock finish on a Telecaster is "blond" (a translucent white color), all blond Telecasters are made of Ash. If a post-1956 Stratocaster was ordered in blond, it too would be Ash."

  • Damn, I love old Fenders. DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN! That there is a players guitar. Nothin' fancy, no baubles, gold plated, pearl inlayed pretty boy bound neck bullshit. Just a players guitar. And that sound, NOTHING like it.

  • I hit thumbs down by sheer accident! Sorry!

  • Yeah man... Rock and roll was takin' off man...

  • That makes perfect sense, Thanks!

the 73 as i say is lovely, so i guess i should be pleased the newer guitars can also be of great quality. just to add, i found the new Taylor electric guitars a bit rough, at the fret edges! anyone else agree?

  • i have a 1973 Tele, Butter scotch, rosewood neck. Sounds great.

i also have a USA B-bender, and customised Mexican 69 thineline, both sound and play much better than the 73 . . . WHY?

  • Very cool man. I bought a Tele today, and it's almost as great as yours. A major difference is that you're playing through a wonderful tweed amp, and I played mine through my Marshall and small Fender collection (I use solidstate amps: It's a preference, get over it). I'd love to have a Fender Tweed ANYTHING! I have a Minitwin, which is much more than a practice amp to me, but I'd like one of those you have.

  • john frusciante has this guitar

  • yes he does, but in a different color. and i like his tone better

  • ive got one to, including every other famous rock band.

  • No, he doesnt't. I bought it about three years ago, but John Frusciante has never owned it as far as I know.

  • I cant freakin believe someone wrote a message on that $20,000 guitar. Jesus. That lady plays like a dream. Love the style, perfectly suited for that telecaster.

  • certainly it didn't cost that much back when he got it!

  • now all the baby guitar heroes can see how a real guitarist wails thi is great

  • Oh Thanks for posting this!

Usually guys who play tweed amps sound all jagged and crazed.

    This is smooth tweedness.

  • when did fender start putting the adjustable truss rod on the headstock? I have a 1989 fender strat 62 RI but unlike your 55' tele the rod is only adjustable at the heel of the neck. Seems odd. Nice playin! And thanks!

  • The truss rod adjustment at the headstock didn't come out until around 1973. The '55 you're seeing here has the truss rod adjustment at the heel of the neck.

  • now THAT is what you guitarists need to play:D

  • yeah, everything was about real musicianship back then-now its all the same

  • this guy is a legend!! how long did it take him to learn how to play those tunes i wonda?

  • Jim Weider from an '80s VHS video all about vintage Fender guitars and amps.

  • Who is this guy? Amazing tone and gear!!

  • jim weider

  • can't you afford a new guitar? just kidding.

  • That's a real fine guitar

  • Analog echo flex! with the tele caster of the bright tone quality, Jim, I maximum

    I respect.

I, too, have, but m readily, this sound, don't go out.

    ブライトな音質のテレキャスターにアナログエコーフレックス!、

    ジム、最高だよ。尊敬してる

    僕も持ってるけど、なかなかこの音、出ないんだ

  • ya, that shit is horstoric! it wold be worth millions!

  • what he's playing at 0.28...45 ???

  • johny be good

  • holy crap the stuff he showed us would be worth so friggin much

  • thanks for a great lession about vintage Fenders, and the lick at 4:50! I appreciate it! Nice old Tele's you got dare. Love your chops. If ya come to Boston, please let me know. I have an inlaid Tele you might like. I also wrote a country tune you would probably love. Wanna talk about it? Also - I want to twang-up an axe, what do you think of the Antiquity Twang pups? Thanks again. Take care.

  • love the intro! great looking guitar, and sounds awesome.

  • Hey a lesson snuck in there :)

  • Damn, that's some of the best tone I've ever heard. That's what happens when you combine a great player with a '50s Tele and Tweed amp. Nothing better.

  • Hi, Don't worry about thoes poking fun.

( My daddy can't dance n' I can't too! ) Some people sitt around anolyzing everyone else.. Not healthy! Love what you do, Do what you do your way, it's fine! I build the tweed bassman with all NOS parts and it is the exact sound of the original.. Took me a couple of years in reseach, but it's right on.. My wife is crippled and I need the extra work, so pass it on! budampsDotCom if you catch my drift,, Look it over,,, Bud

  • I wish I have this guitar!

  • awesome sound

  • Sounds freaking good...
