After seeing all the fake "8-bit" versions of songs on YouTube where they just chuck a MIDI into a soundfont, this authentic 8-bit NES sound is very refreshing. There are parts missing this way, of course, but you do a very good job of approximating the songs with what you have. And the minimalist treatment really works sometimes - the guitar solo in "Time" in particular is fantastic, with just the rhythm, bass/broken chords, and then two overlayed lead tracks.
