  • that'sjust bad ass!!!

  • This is what Soccer Mom Suv should sound like

  • nice car

  • nice car buddy. i gotta friend who has got a 67 with a 327. 40 over 515 lift cam is all i remember. holy crap that thing was scary scary fast hes got 410 posi gears. 3500 stall. he built the motor about 15 years ago it has about 10.000 miles on it since the rebuild. the thing is badass. his is a dark blue with black stripes. gotta love these cars. wish i had the funds to build one. again nice car.

  • Damn! You took your foot out of it, just as I would've made up my mind, at keeping it in the carpet.

  • fact is the 1969 dz 302 runs stock quarter mid 14s at the track

  • redline?? i thought you could rev em till the rods hang out lol...

  • @INF3CT3DPRODUCTIONSX He's either being conservative with it, or the cam has less duration than what is required for a hp peak just shy of 6000rpm.

  • YESSS! Goosebumps...

  • That's a bad mother ....

  • Pwkid if you had ever had the opertunity to drive one you would not say they were overrated and factory these engines are capible of 500hp the as i have one and they were rated @ 290 hp but the thing is that was @ 5500 rpm , take it to 8000 rpm and you will have 500 hp these engines are capible of over 9000 rpm without breaking a sweat i have had many guys with a big block trying to keep up with my car all they ever accomplish is to end up embarased or on a rollback

  • @d1mastersbilt Chevy's 302 was a monster, so many people look at "factory" specifications on these old rods yet the truth is you just can't trust the numbers. Practically every performance based engine had lower numbers put in to dodge insurance costs.

  • Trans Am prepped 302's were really up there, street tuned 302's somewhere around 290. Yenko's and Baldwin's were 500+. But they were 427's.

  • street tuned were rated at 290, but actually made almost 100 more than that..

  • I think the actual rating was 375, but that's in gross horsepower. With the modern scaling of horsepower 290 is probably close to accurate. Beautiful car though, I bet it's a blast to drive on those back roads.

  • in fact the stock 302 was rated at 290 but as most cars in the late 60's were underated actual horsepower was around 400

  • Why does everyone want to overrate the shit outta these engines? I'm a domestic fan but still saying these engines ever pushed 500+ hp is stupid. Not sayin you but just people in-general.

    *Back on topic*

The NHRA rates these engines to about 300 HP so I'd take that as truth.

  • depends on where they measured the hp on the brake. what rpm. you can rate a 500 hp engine at 8000rpm to only make 300 hp at 5500rpm and not lie at all. The factory camshaft for these is huge. Duration you would find on 500hp engines.. i dont think it would be hard to make that kind of power with these with stock components.

  • Finally, someone who is atleast a lil knowledgeable and not playing mockin bird. As it takes alot even nowadays to spin to eight grand, i find it hard to believe these motors could live up that high. Especially with their old heads, rods, and valvetrain. Even though it has alotta duration, it doesn't mean that it can make that much power. The heads must flow in order to use that much duration at that high of an RPM. 260@.050 isnt gonna help much if the heads flow only 200 cfm

  • ur an idiot who knows nuthing its clear to us all

  • awesome .. what pistons in a 302 ..i have 11.1 domes in a 30 over 327 do i just chuck in a 283 crank and 30/30 cam kit to creat one of these animals???

  • you can use pistons designed for a 6" rod 350 in a 302 with 6.25" rods, pistons for a 6" rod 327 with 6.125" rods, pistons for a 5.7" rod 350 with 5.94" rods, or special 302 pistons that are designed for 5.7" rods(these are the same as .125 over 283 pistons).

  • you need a 283 crank, 5.7 rods, and a 4" bore to get 302cid

  • can you put a dz valvetrain on the ss 327? with the dz it will really rev!

  • Could, but ive always prefered the 327/375 horse solid lfiter cam to the dz 302/290 horse cam. z28 springs are a common mod on any motor.

  • that motor just revs out, kinda like a 2 stroke dirt bike motor, unbelievable, Mozart on wheels

  • very nice car, my dad has a dz302 z28 orange with white stripes and white interior. its awsome

  • very nice Z. My dad has a 69 rallysport Z, yellow and black stripes.

  • What id give to drive one of those. Just when you think its running out of breath it wakes up. My dad's buddy had one back in the day and he said he would shift it a second after the tach hit the stopper. love that engine.

  • What gears does that car have?

  • 4.10

  • the 302 is an amazing motor i have a 69 dz302 leman blue white interior and i love it

  • 302 is a screamer!

  • hay hay hay. ;D Z

  • things runs good my grandpa had one in 69 and had to put an automatic in it for my grandma to drive but he said the 302 would spool up into the 7500 range whats yours redline at

  • wish it was a longer video...i had one just like it when i was younger...same colors.

  • Thanks for the comments. I just posted a longer version. Check my other videos.

  • The '69 Z needs 4.56 gears to be brutal! Listen to how the engine wants to tear that guy's face off! He would be scared of that car with 4.56 gears!

  • love those rpm's in those 302's

  • Love it, sounds just like mine

  • it looks like someone knows how to drive a camaro!

  • That sounds awesome! Nothing like a high winding smallblock.

  • is that lucas valley rd?

  • just curious whats the redline on that thing

  • The redline is around 6K but most of the power is above that.

  • i hope you put a video of the out side of your 69 z/28

  • Great running Z28!!!

  • Great video, would love to see a longer version!!

    Clyde

  • More to come soon. Looks like rain for the next week or so.
