@BobbyDigital314 Haha, the onsen aren't that scary! I didn't live with a host family, I lived in the international dorms (which was great). I've heard of quite a mixed bag as far as host families go; some people love their host families, and some people can't stand them. It all depends.
Try the onsen at least once! If you don't like it you'll never have to go again!
I've heard that talking about the weather is the equivalent to small talk for us like, "hey, how are you?" or "how you doing?" kind of thing. From your experience, would you agree with that?
@mzshineshine Did I ever respond to this? I'm SO sorry if I didn't. YES! Talking about the weather and talking about food are SO important to talk about in Japanese small-talk! It's best to become a pro at that! (but since a year has passed you probably already know that.
Hi Jamie, very entertaining videos. I think my Japanese will improve faster if you are my teacher. Btw, you always seem to be laughing at some private jokes in your videos, what are you thinking about? Or maybe you just have a very bright personality! :) Keep up the good work! Cheers!
The laugh is because many of the words he is using are a kind of game play. Almost like "peek a boo". When someone adds "desu ne" to the end of a phrase, the standard reply is "so desu ne". The meaning is a little like "don't you think", and the reply "I think so too".
I went to Japan through my university, since my University and Kumamoto University are sister schools. I don't think they have a med. program, though. Sorry about that.
Have you looked at schools in Tokyo? I think most of the schools in Tokyo or Osaka or bigger cities will have Graduate school programs like that!
Wow, like everyone else says, your pronunciation is spectacular! By the way, if possible, could you make a video and pronounce the difference between "cute" (kawaii) and "scary" (...similar to kawaii)? Thanks and great job!
Jamie! Why is your video quality from heaven?! This is about the clearest youtube video quality i've ever seen! Haha, anywho, wow! I had no idea your japanese was so good! I love your pronunciation! and your scarf! Good luck!

I try to teach useful Japanese phrases to my brother and sisters, but the only Japanese my brother remembers is "二日酔いなんです”
