@vigilanteimplacable i dont really know much about beck but beck sounds more psychodelic than jimmy's heavy style playing and the telecaster yeah awesome was a gift from beck to jimmy and then he just paint it :)
I worked for JP a little later on. Believe me he'd been following Jeff and Mickie Most around like a shadow. ( as Jeff confirms in the liner notes on the Truth/Beckola double CD) Jeff just never had his sh*t together as well as JP.
@bramley1001 blueprint for led zep??ARE YOU FUCKED.. no doubt this song might have influenced page but this is an old blues song....i think what you meant to say is that page admitted using jeffs version of ''you shook me'' as a blueprint.
When Beck heard Zeppelin's version he was deflated. He knew that Zeppelin did it much better and he then realised who was going right to the top....and it wasn't his band.
Credit where credit is due. Rod is singing with a band playing through a wall of Marshalls... there were no tuners... and we don't see any vocal monitors! Plus Jeff bends a lot of notes, so that could make Rod sound 'off'. This isn't in defence of Rod (hell, he doesn't need that!). But you have to consider the situation. As for the Zep version? It followed Jeff and Rod's far superior version on 'Truth'... which along with 'Beck-Ola' was the template for Led Zep. Disagree? Go listen, kids.
I have listened to this song a Million times and this is only one side Stereo sound, it sounds like a Cheap 2 Transistor Radio circa 1961, post the left side too, all I'm hearing is the Right side....
different version...

Zeppelin is a better band, but Page stole jeff beck's idea. It's fucking obvious! c'mon!
I´m a Zeppelin fan, but Page in L zepp 1 sounds like Beck. It's identical. Can't you hear?
Same riffs, same telecaster.

Very, very weak in comparison to Pagey-Percy-Jonsey-Bonzo!

rod's voice is off in this. but the album version on Truth is amazing. it sounds like he is losing his voice here or something

Rod Stewart sounds awful. Flat as hell. That song is way out of his range.

Plant voice is much better...

@paulstefan2002 Sorry but Steve Marriot had the best voice ever. Rod Stewart 2nd. Paul Rodgers 3rd,Mark Farner 4th.
