If I'm not mistaken, he doesn't have an agent or manager. He reportedly fields offers through a voicemail box, making it really difficult to get in touch with him. It took Sofia Coppola an absurd amount of time just to get him the script as a result.

I imagine his statement was just a tongue-in-cheek way of telling the big names in the room not to worry about losing out on roles to him now that his so-called "comeback" was official in the form of a Golden Globe.
