Question! How do I make sure my low/leg kicks are extremely effective at all times?
Usually when you're in a street fight your not wearing the type of attire like Muay Thai shorts that you can freely move and attack in.
Regular pants and jeans kinda immobilize one's legs from extending and putting force into kicks and wearing shoes kinda neutralize power, even if the kick in casual attire did land.
What can I do? I've been provoked to fight on the street! Can anyone help with my situation?
@chamillionator8 How tight are your pants dude? I could kick in jeans, sure not as much power but enough to knock someone in the STREETS, who probably arent expecting a kick from you anyways....
yeah I actually fucked up a ligament or tendon in my knee from repeatedly kicking a 100lb bag as hard as i possibly could. i think bags are more meant for punching. if you want to work on kicks then use pads.
@paulisawesome14 don't kick with your foot, kick with your shin. Its much stronger and much much more effective. And when you kick lead with your hips as the power source and let your leg follow.
@The90daysickness yea man i know how to kick I'v done kickboxing for 6 years, jus sayin i had kicked badly was a bad mistake it took me 4 months to recover from that ...
I have spoken to people who have fractured their feet from kicking pads. I does happen.
Although it's not likely it will fracture when you kick someones thigh it's safer, and more effective, to kick with the shin. The feet usually tends "slips" of the thigh.
Boxsterwelby...OVERKILLIRONSIDE isnt saying which kick is harder or saying the thai kick has no power, he is saying that you must have one hell of a bitch ass foot if it breaks from kicking someones thigh, i have landed plenty of thigh kicks with the foot and it has never broken, and depending on my opponent is whether or not i will use the foot or the shin, if he has good boxing skills then i wont use the shin cause then im too close too his hands, i can instead have more reach and use the foot
It's not that someone has a bitch-ass foot. It's that Thai boxers will block a leg kick with thier shins. Shin bone versus foot, you figure it out. Whack your foot on a baseball bat, then make your conlusion.
Leg kicks need to be utilized more in MMA. It's so deadly. And yes, if you kick really hard with your foot and someone blocks with their shin = broken foot.
i'd agree if it weren't so easilly defended, and most of the pro mma fighters not only know the defense, but they will use it as a chance to shoot, and bring you down, Not that that is always bad, if you're good at the ground game, but if you're trained only/primary in Kickboxing or MT you most likely don't wanna end up in a ground fight.
overkill is such an expert that everyone in thailand must be wrong! How can you be so sure that you're right when you've never attempted this style of kick? hold thai pads for someone and have them kick with their instep and the with their shin. There is absolutely no debate about which kick is harder. Stop hating and try learning.
some people like to turn their bodies even more so they can place their left hand to block the right side of the face with an open palm instead of the left side of the face.
he's asking for a big right hand on the chin!
