ts a Pygmy Sloth which is found in panama/ brazil /may latin american forest the slowest moving mammal in the world the over grown Pygmy Sloth for example in this photo the fur was gone just becoz the animal was thrown to the water coz the decomposition process had already had started so its sloth for sure and no doubt

I remembered finding on top of a solitary rock an animal skull about the size of a tennis ball. we sat there for a few minutes trying to tell what kind of animal it was, but we were just teenagers we didn't think much of it then. There were no other bones at all just the skull by itself on a rock completely out of place. this just reminded me of that.

I believe it's a sloth, a sloth with some skin condition, doesn't exactly look like mange though, there are plenty of sloths in Panama, I'm one country above them, knowing the kind of people here, even if it had been moving slowly (like sloths do) and didn't pose a threat to the kids, I wouldn't put it past them to go and kill an animal minding it's own business, the only bit I find strange is that when I first read about this last year it said it came out of a cave.

@ThorirEy Plus, a quick google of 'weird creature panama' will come up with FULL BODY photos of it, which reveal that it's a decaying sloth that was in the water, when a carcass is in water it bloats and tends to lose it's hair, just like the "Mantauk monster" which is a decaying raccoon.

If it was a hairless sloth there would be some account of it in a specie database. If the fur was sheared off you would see somewhat of a 5 o clock shadow, if you will. Whatever it is its weird. If anything they should just perform an autopsy anyways to find out what it is. I dont think it wouldve harmed the teens though, looks more like an herbivore. Just a suggestion.
