  • kickcopper10-Had this album back in the day. Why is it that once a blues lover, always a blues lover??

  • 3:34 SO FUCKIN' GOOD!!

  • sick band man ! chock full of riffs and great lead work! duane and dicky's jams blow me away man! greg's voice soo cool!

  • This is my favorite allman song. Reminds me of Crosstown Traffic by Hendrix.

  • @instereovideos The riff at 0:36 is very much like the CT riff

  • Thank God for the inception of this most respected, legendary band. Nothing satisfieslike their heavy, high-powered blues-rock. Allman Brothers 4ever!

  • this is where lynyrd skynyrd picked up.

  • * * * * *

  • the break is at 3.17 by the way

  • A classic tune, very innovative great rhythm

  • Gregg Allman recorded one of songs and also played all the guitar tracks. It's a duet with Terri Rice, and is called "In You (I Found Me)". Hope you enjoy it.

  • Stand Back

    No matter what you say

    I aint accepting no lies

    you say you love me

    woman please tell me why

I know I have been lost for so many days

so now please… can you stand back

and show me the error of my ways

    M.S. Morrison

  • Warren Haynes keeps the new ABB lineup really tight.

  • One of my most favorites of my many favorites by this band.

  • the allmans where where its at. awesome. so many years later and still giving lasting pleasure to people

  • The ABB kicked more ass by accident than another band did on purpose

  • Lets face it. You put duane Allman teamed with dickey betts and Greg Allman and the rest with 2 sets of quality purcusions and you got TALENT.

  • i bought am original vinyl copy of this yeasterday...to those who know im just preaching the word..to those who don't you gotta hear it on vinyl

  • as far as I know the picture at 1:48 was taken in Jerusalem about 2000 years ago

  • the allmans were one of the early users of the tapping technique although they used it in a much more limited way than EVH took it to, it was nonetheless tapping,as it shows here Duane tapping a note at :50 Dickey tapped as well as Page and others. Larry Carlton also was an early user, but tapping actually started at least a decade before these guys with early jazz & Blues players of the 50's and possibly 40's.

  • Duane will always get the accolades he deserves, but let's not overlook the rest of the band. Dickey was way more than an average guitar player - and wrote some quite memorable instrumentals. Prior to joining the Brothers, Berry Oakley was a lead guitarist who agreed to 'learn' bass for the opportunity to be a member of the ABB. Butch and Jaimoe were an EPIC rhythm section! And Brother Gregg.... Under rated as a writer and keyboardist - but try imagining the ABB without him. Can't, can ya???

  • @sovereignrebel agreed the brothers all were super talented and multi-instrumentalists didn't know Berry was a lead player, he is such a kich ass bass guitarist blows my mind he had just picked it up that fast. I CAN'T IMAGINE the allmans w/o Gregs voice as well as his playing & writing, so everyone deserves much accolades.i saw them 3 times twice in the 70's (1973 & 1974) & then the 80's shortly after Warren joined but i never had the chance to see my fav player, Duane.

  • Who the hell votes down I don't get it.

  • This song, this whole album has this really destinctive color over it, some sort of sound to it, I don't know what the producer did but it sounds really cool.

  • YEA APATCH OF CHEST HAIR

  • Does anyone know what that mark in the middle of Duanes chest is at 2:55

  • simple rock monotone song

  • YEAH!!! Brilliant!

  • I saw them play with Duane and Berry twice, and we were blown away by them. Never heard anything like before then or since. Very original and knock you socks off tight. Duane was possessed when he played. BTW, they were the backup band for Mountain and blew they off the stage and into hyperspace! Still have my stub.

  • A band I was in covered this back in the 70's, lmao the crowd did not know to clap or run.

  • I Totally agree with you I love the tune to

  • LOve it!!!

  • that's weird! I've known this one for years and a couple of weeks ago a friend of mine told me there actually is ANOTHER "allman brothers"...BAND with great Oteil Burbridge on bass! quite different but still so good ! :)

  • @Skeedaddy91 Yeah, Duane and Dickey are my hero's but the new allman's are still killer. Derrick Trucks=Phenom on slide, Warren Haynes=Slide and lead + Vocals, and Oteil Kills it. Saw them in nashville in November they played this, Don't keep me wanderin, all there greats and Greg sounded awesome!

  • Oh yes...nice video.

  • WOW-This Music Is Alot Better Than What I Do:)

  • To me the Allman's transcended "Southern Rock ". When I hear that term I think of Skynard , Marshal Tucker, CDB. The Allman's soared way beyond that with their fusion of jazz, blues, and rock. The original lineup is the tightest band I have ever heard

  • @ZEBRA2828 Definitely agree - I think those bands were inspired by the Allman Brothers and in particular Dickey's style and I love a lot of their music, especially the early Marshall Tucker. But none of it is in the same musical league with the Allman Brothers - except maybe the late 70's early 80's version of the ABB. They were kind of like the so called Southern Rock bands.

  • @ZEBRA2828 I agree..The term Southern Rock is a dumb anyways. Marshall Tucker didn't play like Skynyrd. Skynyrd didn't play like the Allman Brothers. They were all just great bands that happened to be from the south they got dubbed with the "southern rock" label. They were just rock bands.

  • @ZEBRA2828 yea i get a little of that z but rerally w any music u just cant pigeon hole it. they were totally inspired by black ms blues. whatever though doesnt get any fuckin tighter j johhny, butch trucks, barry oakley held down a heavy as bottom duane and dicky betts back and forth duanes slid like no other before or after old ledbelly shit

  • @ZEBRA2828 Thanks for the VH1 soundbyte, there, buddy.

  • Southern! \,,,\

  • sick!

  • Now that is one talented group of musicians!

  • That main riff is KILLER. Definitely one of the greatest bands to ever grace the earth.

  • @rossobass420

    wrong THE GEATEST!!!!!

    :-)

    imho

  • Love this song, only just come across this band.

    Southern Rock is brilliant!

  • What's all that greenery doing around the pillars of the Parthenon? Did they put it there for the picture? Don't remember it ever being like that but then I didn't get there until 1970.

  • Jesus!!! you ARE an old Maconite. My sister attended Mercer during that time. Her best friend was Jane Wooley whose husband Dick was vice-president of Capricorn Records. My Sisters response to your question concerning greenery at th Parthenon..........."......we were so stoned back then that we couldn't tell you if there were greenery on our front lawn,...much less the Parthenon. LONG LIVE the 1970's..

  • awesome riff! Long Live Duane

  • My God! What a sound from ABB original line up!

  • southern fried rock at it`s best.

  • so good

  • Intro riff in 7/8 time?

  • That's one of the things I love best about this song and Whipping Post - the changing meters.

  • hell yeah

  • I will never have the chance to see the classic Allmans linup, but I don't have to. All I have to do is pop in Live at Fillmore East and I can see them through the soundwaves.

  • Changed my life.

  • is their a tab for this somewhere? i cant find any..

  • this song is so fun to play

  • when I heard this song on the readio for the first time, my life was changed forever, a revelation that there was real rampaging quality music out there in the seventies, beyond dave mason, genesis, mott the hoople, slade and all that! this was finally something that REALLY touched me! Thanks forever for this great song !

  • One of the best solos that I'm familiar with. They had a lot in common with GnR in my honest opinions: 2 lead guitars, very cohesive sound, very rich sound.

  • I just saw the Bros. do this at the Beacon. I'm 41 and been going to concerts regularly for over 25 years and that may have been the best live song I've ever seen. Downright smoldering.

  • theotiscampbell

this is a good description of the terrain inspiring this music.

the foundation comes from the slaves and their message of life.

  • music like this makes me proud to be southern born and livin

  • @arobb1 they make me proud the south is part of my country.

  • I don't listen to this masterpiece without shakin my body! for the love of everybody for this song!

  • Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd are the defining words in southern music. That's

    like saying rock rock.

  • Don't forget The Band

  • robbie robertson

  • No thats music I can feel. feel it.

  • Great Tune. Great band. Live fast, die young and leave behind mind blowing music.

  • I never saw him play live, but having talked to many who have it always comes back to what a fabulous improviser he was. Its so revealing that he was so into miles and coltrane-starting only in like 68-69. One of the few available testiments to this is the LIVE album-American University that came out just a few years ago. Although recorded only months before the fillmore sessions his lead lines on the same songs are completely different in theme and format yet are of equal brilliance.Thats DUANE

  • beautifully said

  • Duane was just such a powerful force to everyone around him, hard to describe. His band-even Clapton-the whole scene, was profoundly touched by his spirit. Just a really cool guy, amazingly talented, very humble. To think he passed at 24- so many great guitarists had barely got started at this age- Hendrix 23 SRV 27 Wes 35- he was just getting started, and is justifiably revered as one of the truely great musicians of all time. His spirit lives on forever.

  • wow.

    well said buddy.

both of your d-allman black hearted woman comments

you mentioned coltrane-davis. ive read they were both heavily effected by thelonious monk whom ive only recently gotten into. it's music at a whole 'nother level. or levels?

guys like monk ... duane ... they just heard stuff others hadn't yet. visionaries.

  • Comment removed

  • WTF lol the point was that jimi was 23 when he broke out in England not when he passed on. Can you read lol - drivinsouth a great name so i give you a pass on this one guessing you were enjoying a fat crip when you wrote this.

  • Comment removed

  • not being a dick but hendrix was around 27 and SRV was around 36

  • Thats cool- the point was that duane passed at 24 and I was thinking of the others when at that age

  • hay hay hay. ;D Y

  • saying the Allman brothers are better than the Beatles is like saying a Pepsi is better than a tuna sandwich. love this song btw...

  • shit cheese ! 4400 people ? haha! thats NOTHING! got me ? see my point ???!! aguilera, oasis, blur, minogue, all these fashionable bands like even pearl jam are blocking the vision for great other bands and their best songs, like this one. get it now? :))))))

  • Explain this quote to me please?"all these fashionable bands like even pearl jam are blocking the vision for great other bands and their best songs"

I am a fan of both and have seen both well over 60 times each, that comment makes no sense whatsoever. Blaming pearl jam and other bands for "blocking the vision of other bands" is ludicris

  • the best love song

  • Yeah, agreed, that is definitely a problem with You Tube...

I knew who you were talking about...it's all good. Glad you are enjoying the vid. 8)

  • @billyshitcheese fuck you mate, ill bash your head in bitch

  • @qsergyuko your on the internet calm down buddy

  • @ColinTheButthead haha i love this comment!

  • i love the chords in this song

  • I have been listening to the Brothers for a while (one of the greatest bands ever, maybe the best, mostly their live albums and 2nd and 3rd albums but just recently I heard this song and most of their first album for the first time and I was completely blown away, its one of the best songs I've ever heard, love the indian-like vocals towards the end. Anyway thanks for posting this.

  • good call, man. I knew a lot of ABB before I knew the entire first album. It was definitely ABB at their best... and in my opinion, the best lineup of all time.

  • I'm from LONG ISLAND>>>...I SAW THEM LIVE SEVERAL TIMES THEY ARE IN MY AND YOUR OPINION ONE OF THE FINEST ROCK BANDS FROM THE SOUTH (YA NEVER HEARD OF SOUTHERN FRIED ROCK??,ITS OUTSTANDING...)im not yr enemy man,AT LEAST YA KNOW EXCELLENT TUNES

  • hunter, of COURSE its one of the best songs EVER, I heard it one night on the radio and was LOST FOREVER and a day, haha! I thought, my God, THIS MUST BE THE BEST ROCK SONG I HAVE EVER LISTENED TO!!!!

and strange thing : NO ONE KNOWS IT !

  • yes, no one! river you lost tit, what about the 44000+ people who've viewed this video, plus those who bought any copy of it, plus the band, plus those who saw it performed. man, you are a fucking TIT!

  • yes, no one! river you lost tit, what about the 44000+ people who've viewed this video, plus those who bought any copy of it, plus the band, plus those who saw it performed. man, you are a fucking TIT!

  • your name, BILLY SHIT CHEESE, says it all, and in YOUR case, I guess, a woman neednt have a blackk heart to be put off, you probably will put off ANYONE and your keyboard seems to be fucked also, you say it al 23 times here! if punters like you are UNABLE to DIG what people say, shut your smelly mouth, please! I have NEVER met anyone in EUROPE who knows this song, ever! and thats not MY FAULT but our radio stations´! got me?

  • yes, no one! river you lost tit, what about the 44000+ people who've viewed this video, plus those who bought any copy of it, plus the band, plus those who saw it performed. man, you are a fucking TIT!

  • Does anyone from England (London in particular) remember a band called Sam Apple Pie who were around in the early 70's? They came from a beautiful exotic place called Walthamstow and did a really shit hot version of this.

  • fuck the beatles, allman brother raped the shit out the beatles, beatles suck. allman brithers kick ass

  • Excellent song.. Excellent representation of signature dual leads..Skydog, Dickey..Gregg on organ- Twin drummers..awesome break and outstanding closing. Rock legends from the south. Redefined rock in general, and influenced

music for generations. Groups like CDB, MTB, The Outlaws..Lynyrd Skynyrd.. Not since Elvis

has one entity had such an influence.

Duane's leads on Layla and so many other hits,

    continue to reap profits..

  • The lick on the back of Wilson Pickett's

Hey Jude changed music forever. This

Duane rift opened up southern rock to

    the world.

  • this is a great song, but im tired of people posting ABB songs specially when it appears to be a video..thats the only reason this song has 30,000 views..

  • Well sorry I didn't have any live clips to post. Live clips are the only thing worth viewing or listening to? Damn it I really need to learn "the rules".

Yep, you busted me...I made this video just to trick people into watching it.

  • pay no attention to nay sayers man...this is GOOD!!!

    Thanks.

  • My pleasure. Thanks man...glad you like it. 8)

  • what are you talkin about bthoma? the reason this song has 30,000 views is because its the ALLMAN BROTHERS. there are only so many videos from before Duane and Berry died... all of the rest of us would MUCH rather have a great song with some awesome pics than nothing at all. how about you shut the fuck up, go buy the album, and load your own damn video. at least this guy isn't labeling it ABB and then posting a video of a cover....

  • And?

Since you have it, it means everyone does too? And therefore, in the universe you think you're at the center of, since you don't want to hear it so nobody should either? Who died and made you God?

  • there you go buddy posted my video you happy..

  • the name eat a peach...for the album...comes from Duane Allman saying that when he was in Georgia...he would eat a peach for peace...get the biography of Duane...Skydog...it is a good read...remember Duane Allman

  • The 2 legged Georgia kind...

  • CMT ran a special i have it on DVD

think it was called Southern Influences.

    Highlighting ABB & Skynyrd mainly.

Early stuff. Check out Tom Dowd &

    the Language of music. Interesting

ABB info. Well worth the research

    to obtain them.

  • Duane your amazing thanxs for changing my life you are the king of the slide blues! R.I.P SkyDog

  • This after losing Eight Belles in the Derby & my mom undergoing ovarian cancer surgery. I don't think I can take it any more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My comments about Duane's death are pasted from Wikipedia. & I am still wasted. Sorry. How come pot isn't legal? I really need some RIGHT NOW!!!! =)

  • He flew from his bike, which landed on and skidded with him, crushing internal organs; he died a few hours later, less than one month shy of his 25th birthday. In a bizarre coincidence, bassist Berry Oakley would die less than 13 months later in a similar motorcycle crash with a city bus, just three blocks away from the site of Duane Allman's fatal accident.

How many others have we tragicly lost to things like this? I'lll probably cry cause I've had a shitty day & I've had too much bourbon

  • before you get wasted...how many people have done as much as Duane in 24 years...to listen to his music is a brush with greatness...the music lives on...celebrate...the man...REMEMBER DUANE ALLMAN

  • THIS IS THE ONLY BAND THAT THE NEW WORLD LEFT ALONE... ty MAYBE NOT, HOW DID DUANNE DIE? SHIT.......INVESTIGATE 9-11

  • i always heard he was riding a motorcycle and hit a truck full of peaches. EAT A PEACH.

anyone, have u heard the same?

  • no that was an urban legend built around the eat a peach album release, he actually died hittin a tree.

    RIP Duane.

  • he was THE MAN! Does Southern rock, hell any kind of rock 'n roll, not owe him much respect?!?

"One of these days i'm gonna catch u with your backdoor man!"

    CLASSIC!

  • yah but the truck hit him...

  • its was actually a log truck that caused the accident.

  • "Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident only a few months after the summer release and great initial success of At Fillmore East. While in Macon on October 29, during a band break from touring and recording, Allman was riding toward an oncoming truck that was turning well in front of him but then stopped in mid-intersection. He lost control of his Harley while trying to swing left, possibly striking the back of the truck or its crane ball."

  • Duane doesn't solo on this--just some of the fills and the harmony parts. That's Dickey soloing.

  • Back in late 60's into the 70's the Fillmore East booked the best music around for 6bucks a ticket. I saw everybody who was anybody, Cream, Who, Miles, The Dead, Jefferson, Santana, Led Zep, too many to remember.. went in every Saturday nite but...The Brothers put on the all time best show I've ever seen ..started at 11:30 and we walked outta there with the sun already up, shining in on the stage cuz they blew the roof off. Tom Dowd recorded it all, so I can listen to it anytime at all.

  • caramba.. fabuloso, excelencia de grupo, pura excelencia.

    larga vida al southern rock

  • Back in The Day me and my friends would pile into a car on a Sunday morning.Ride down I-85 straight to Piedmont Park in Atlanta. The Brothers would be set up in a little park pavillion. You procured whatever your psychedelic pleasure was.Stood only feet from the band and it was Electric Church. Those were the best of times. Jerryrocked

  • WOW I was born 25 years too late.

  • fantastic song! long live duane and berry

    p.s. duane has enooourmous fingers

  • ha ha like Jimi.... RIP

  • haha most legends of guitar do. although angus young had unuasual small fingers

  • Great tune!

  • Gotta Love the Georgia Blues!!!

  • Amen to that!!!

  • They did this one at Gilford New Hampshire this year with a loooong drum and percussion solo to end it.

  • that was definitely a highlight of that show, especially when Oteil Burbridge took over butch's drum set

  • wot a fuckin tune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow....I really like this one. 5*s
