I think I was still young at the time, and death was still something I wasn't understanding. When Betty passes, it will be a sad day for the world. But it will be nice thinking that the Golden Girls are back together again.

Yeah, it's so sad that they're gone. Betty White is the sole surviving cast member of that show to still be with us. Hard to believe: Estelle Getty left us in '08, Bea Arthur in '09 and Rue McClanahan left us back in June of this year. I hope Betty White doesn't leave us in 2011.

Didn't know about Harold...time just passes by so fast... when I watch this show I don't even realize that it was over 20 years ago when the show was in it's prime... I watched it a lot with my grandparents... I am 28 now and still watch this show all the time. I don't think it will ever end in my heart! Wish they would release a dvd set of outtakes, bloopers and casting auditions for Betty as Blanche and Rue as Rose (if they exist)

This show proves that if you have great writing and a talented cast, it will appeal to anyone. I mean think about it. On paper, a show about four retired ladies should appeal to old women only, a demographic that advertisers don't give a shit about. But in reality, Golden Girls appeals to women and men, young and old. I, myself am a 32 year old guy and I love this show. Again, great writing and great acting make a great show that will appeal to all demographics.

There was an extended version of the opening sequence, where the last verse was indeed repeated twice, though I have never seen that version used after Marc Sotkin took over as the Executive Producer (last two seasons or so). This was actually someone doing a little bit of editing of the photo sequence, as the font used on this video was never actually featured on the show's credits (but very similar).
