So happy to see Biily boy enjoying playing with the water. Especially when he when under the splashing water, his mouth opened wide few times and his cute expression was like saying "Woh". His hugh long and very white trunk makes him look so outstanding. Thanks to all the staffs of LA zoo for their effort in creating a better enviroment for the animals to live in. You people are great and so are this beautiful and gorgeous animals.
@shiboof You have no idea what your talking about!! The exhibit has 2 very large pools, that billy has been seen swimming fully submerged and even inverted at times... this is the waterfall feature of the india area!!!....
I love that you make a comment the way you did, as if you knew anything, then prove how ignorant you are with lack of factual information.
@Ulysses61 Tina and Jewel have lots of contact and interaction with Billy throughout the day... the LA Zoo is a great place for everyone, the elephants, the patrons, and all of the other animals... Stop drinking the Kool-Aid, and go see for yourself....
What a small and uninspiring yard! Given the fact that Asian elephants are living in tropical jungle environments, this area must be like desert for this poor bull.
Anyway it's an illusion to think that zoos protect species. What's not survining in the wild is lost for ever, and these few zoo elephants are not the same as their wild relatives
No wonder, despite the testimonies from some elephant advocates & elephant experts, LA marched right on to creating the new exhibition: Billy's long, big, curvy tusks make him look incredibly majestic... very much like his close but extinct cousins, the Wolly Mammoths which existed there in Southern California from 150K to 10K years ago. But elephants, even bulls, shouldn't be alone for years on end, much less alone their entire lives. They need others to associate with.
This is wonderful to see! Billy will the the star of a breeding program for endangered Asian elephants and two rescued circus animals are scheduled to join him. The self-appointed "elephant experts" (who really want to close zoos) can just go "save" someone else.
How rewarding to see Billy enjoy his new habitat. What an adorable video. The health and welfare and conservation of all animals is extremely important. Thanks for sharing this great video LA Zoo.
"Uh-oh," he says. "Looks like a trick! And I thought they promised a private Slash concert?? Oh well, guess I'll just take a dip instead. Gotta remember to spray Slash next time he visits!"

Well. Better than what he had BUT would it have killed the zoo to make his pool deep enough so that he could have a proper swim?

Tina and Jewel are NOT allowed near Billy. The LA Zoo is a horrific place for elephants!

Billly can enjoy the moment, but in the end he probably realizes that he is a captive being. I doubt that the euphoria lasted very long.
