RPG Maker VX Easy Tutorials - Sprites

Hope this helps::

You're only getting a portion of your sprite because RPG Maker VX uses a sprite sheet with specific dimensions. I've used the site in the vid to make my sprites and had the same issue at first. Simply open up whatever program you're using to edit your sprites - (I use Graphics Gale ) and make a new file with these dimensions::

384x256 (colors should be 8-16 bits)

open up the sprite page u want to use, copy all and paste it onto the new image you made - save and you're done

Everyone,

If your sprite has something inside it that you don't want.

Put an "$" infront of it. So that RPG Maker recognizes it not as a normal

PNG file. Example ; Your sprite's file name right now : Ralph

To fix it, do this : $Ralph. Pm me if you need more help ^^

@roserase Just make a sprite and recolor the hair in a program like MS paint or in photoshop. Photoshop has a paintbrush that changes the colors of things but keeps the shading. Hope this helped > w >

these are rpg maker vx sprites! They are much smaller than rpg maker 2000 and 2003 and XP.

When i download a charecter using the chibi generator, it shows up on the import list for VX, but doesnt seem to be the right size, as the little blue square doesnt line up with the chac models. what is wrong?

@incuro the do have a rpg maker generator for the 2000 and 2003 rpg makers. Its called character maker 1999 and look for it and download it. The character maker 1999 is the one for making 2000 and 2003 sprites.

When I try to edit it, a message comes up saying that paint cannot read the file because it isn't a valid bitmap file or its format isn't currently supported. could someone help please? I tried saving the image type as "All files" but that doesn't do anything.

I hear RPG Maker VX has a very low limit on the amount of your own custom tiles you can use, is this true and if so do you know approx how low that limit is?

i'm stuck around 4:06.. how come it won't let me select my whole sprite like it does in this video? it just selects half of the sprite and then the character looks almost invisible when you're playing as him/her thanks to it not selecting every angle of the character from the sprite...

I found that the files seem to work when the Google Translate isn't on. After clicking the link in the description, look for a link at the top that says, "Go to original Page" that worked for me
