Because it could be related to the central nervous system according to the two Psychology classes that I took. It was discussed in both classes, High School and College. Granted scientists do not know the exact cause. It also seems to me that Psych. has a lot to do with Biology.
It is an interesting biological phenomenon where the brain stops producing hypocretin, thus causing irregulation in sleep cycles and the many other symptoms associated with narcolepsy. It also is considered a psychological disease because of the profound effect it has on the psyche. Imagine going for several years off of just 2-3 hours a night, and that is what a narcoleptic always feels. The sleep paralysis, hallucinations and cataplexy also have a profound psychological effect as well.

Why would Narcolepsy be included in a Psych. class? It is a biological phemenom. Someone should reread their textbook!
