I hate when stage directors act like their "vision" should stand out more than the piece they are working on. This is just horrible, Damrau looked bad in the broccoli dress but WOW, poor Natalie. It's hard trying to focus on a singer's performance when her outfit is louder than her voice.

As much as i love diana damrau and would normally not put someone over her... this is by far the COOLEST performace of this song i've ever seen!! The costumes, the random costume change, the floatation, the disappearing act, MARVELOUS!! The vocals weren't as good as damrau's to me but she definately made up for it!

Deutekom broke the Met down with debut as Queen of the Night. 5 minutes applause first aria 7 minutes second aria. That should tell you something.
