For me the Twilights is a completely new acquaintance. But, I must say that they are very good. Music from the 60s and from Australia is enormously interesting to rediscover.
Music from Scandinavia during this special period is also fantastic. Check up a totally unknown band: THE ZETTLERS and their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah". The recordings were made already 1965. Unbelievable. Listen for example to the bass and to the guitars.
"Bad Boy" was The Twilight's FIFTH single after "I'll Be Where You Are","Come on Home","If She Finds Out" and their great version of Baby let Me Take You Home".
@wellsy1954 Another fellow rock and roll maniac born in the year that gave us "Sh Boom" by the Crew Cuts. You know your music! Thanks for the great trivia!
Not a go go boy but a second lead singer (Clem "Paddy" McCartney) who didn't get to sing in this particular song. Check out 'Needle in a Haystack' to see him do more.
hey it's ok. they all did that then and still do now. Ask Brit Spears :) anyway they're doing the Beatles version and very close almost exact but not as good. Still love it!
It's not a mime, cleverdick. A mime is silent! It's a lip sync, cleverdouche. I was just commenting on the fact that it was poorly done. Fold your hand, cleverfool!!!!
The guy in the upper right corner is Paddy McCartney, The Twilights had 2 singers, which produced the best harmony work around. Check out other Twilights stuff and you will see what I mean.
It's amazing that borrowing someone else's arrangement was, I guess, acceptable, back then, even by the Beatles! All this time I thought those licks were George's (obviously there's one little fancy lick he didn't include) - and I always thought Ringo came up with those drum parts! Weird-o-rama!
Are you implying this version came before the Beatles? The Beatles recorded this Larry Williams tune in early 1965, the Twilights recorded theirs based on the Beatles version about a year later.
Indeed. The best part of this version though is that fading guitar lick after "off your head" part. Seems as if they augmented the Beatles version further with style.
I think you will find "If She Finds Out" March 1966. was their first hit. I remember them doing it on the Rolling Stones show Feb 1966. Then I bought the single.

Few rockers outside of Australia in the 1960's know the success of this band. Well done! It is great that their wonderful videos have been saved!

Brutal. The guy on the drums is playing the hi - hat when the sound is clearly a riveted cymbal!

'Groan' It's a mime, cleverdick,
no leads, no amps, no foldback, so wrong cymbal is on the cards.

"If She Finds Out / John Hardy" I'm pretty sure was their first single, heard them sing it on the Rolling Stones tour Feb 66.
This is a cover of Larry Wiiliams' song, but more influenced by The Beatles cover version.
