Then the business is in a cash crunch and starts laying off workers. As for health care it was already 16% of the economy before the reform and had rising prices. Businesses will have to worry about it until universal public health care comes to US.

A big housing bubble is created amnd when it inevitably pops, suddenly govt not interested in "social justice" loans. What's worse, govt entities sell to Wall Street who in turn sells to retirement plans. The whole thing blows up.

@dalmatian847 I don't disagree about how the crissis was created, but now days banks will only lend to mortgage owners because US is purchasing mortage backed paper. With businesses banks have to take risks, banks no longer know how to do that so they stick with mortages and goverment saving bonds. Businesses can't get loans.

Obama tried to get bi-partisan support for the stimulus Bill and every Republican in the house voted against it including the one negotiated with the senate that had only three Republicans voting for it on conditions that money be taken out to fix up schools and other projects that would create jobs and better peoples lives, but no the Republicans would rather spend tax payers money giving fat cats tax breaks and for wars of choice. I hope they lose more seats in congress in 2010.

If the government is chiefly concerned with the economic well being of the poor, lower middle class, and middle class then the quickest way to help those people is to cut their payroll taxes or eliminate them completely for a period of time. Let us know when you own a business, when you pay over $18K a year in personal property taxes, $15k of which goes to the local school of which you have no kids that attend ANY school.
