Iam Portuguese and in my opinion the only american badn wortihng watching live is Pearl jam and thats maybe because they have some european appeal.

In other way british rock bands are always amazing to watch live because the understand the audience and they give us what we really want, and usually they doesnt desappoint us. american bands are used to creat big hype but in the end they desapoint alot.

Coldplay said they inspired it. You should also look for the song Sidiki by Ambassadeurs. & soukous music from Congo has these kinds of guitars, rhythm and feeling too.
