  • Thanks for the Upload mayn!

  • I don pay attention to all the bullshit that is around but there is definitely something our minds can tune into when we are asleep. Psychologists will never acknowledge this because they cannot understand it. Dreams can be very disturbing as they are real sometimes. Once again psychiatrists will label a person who has disturbing dreams as mentally ill when they do not understand things we do not understand. You get these spirits in your dream which try and fuck you about doing mindles tasks

  • 1980?

  • I love that this is brought to us by Lockheed Martin.

  • The phillipine person getting hand surgery from a Guy that has no medical practice what an idiot

  • James Randi is the man!

Anyone who claims to be a psychic... is a retard

or as James Randi puts it... "mentally ill"

  • @qoaa Randi is a liar and a criminal. Of course SOME psychics are fakes and some are the real deal. Why would the US military invest 20 years and millions of dollars into their "Remote Viewing" program ? Remote viewing is another word for ESP. Eventually they shut down the program claiming that their results weren't so good, yeah right ! it took them 20 years to find out. In reality each branch of the military started their own R.V. program and they still operate successfully.

  • what shysters!

  • @drnickyp

    Great word.

  • LOL! TV is BROKEN! just want it to work!

  • The really weird thing is seeing the guy smoking on the talk show. Times change, I guess.

  • this is like a more polite precursor to Penn & Teller BS and just as funny.

  • if there is such things as psychics then they are the dumbest self centered fucks in the world, will i tell them about this devastating plane crash or will i just sit in my tent and charge 50 quid a reading to the next sucker

  • SOME psychics can sense or feel or see the energy residue or energy field around you, but they can only make a guess as to your future because there is always the improv. You can change course anytime you choose and you make choices every holy moment. BUT I want to know, where are these psychics when children go missing or murdered?

  • If supernatural exist it would have been proven long time ago. All such claims failed, sooner or later, and continue to fail. Simply it's a dirty way to make money, and to some, fame.

  • @montimer44 ::: It has been proven. Have you been asleep? Astral travel, ghosts, psychics and mediums, EVPs, NDEs are all proof that the supernatural exists

  • @k0smon And what proof do you have of these various fantasies that you're talking about?

  • @Darkstar1484 ::: I am not talking about fantasies. I am talking about realities. I have no proof for fantasies. What kind of proof are you willing to accept?

  • @k0smon I'd be willing to accept peer reviewed studies that are done with proper control mechanisms from legitimate reputable sources. Double blind tests ideally that are designed and administered by a third party of some sort. Or would that be too difficult for these woo-woo practitioners to pull off?

  • are you kidding me? sponsored by lockheed? like lockheed martin?

  • I only talk to dead people after 12 beers.

  • I love that fucking intro, it's so 90s

  • @maxsil89 Well this originally aired October 19, 1993.

    June 25, 2011 12:37 am

  • Those who don't believe in psychics should go to global psychic community these are actual psychics.

  • Telephone psychics are the worst.....

When I gave birth to my son I had the quickest labour and didnt throw up once. The 'psychic' woman said 'your labour was tough wasnt it? You were very sick..

I as like 'no not once'

    FAKE!'

  • Randi Rules, psychics fail.

  • @nergvol::: Randi is a magician, and playing tricks is his livelihood. His 'psychic challenge' is just another of his tricks. He is also a died-in-the wool skeptic, so he does have an agenda to protect.

  • If I had real psychic powers I would not waste my time bending keys and spoons. I would most likely levitate myself in front of large crowds...hmmm, say in front of the Pope at the vVtican on Easter Sunday, give a short address, then fly off leaving them to ponder that.

  • PSYCHICS DO EXIST!! Unfortunately they can`t cure illness or anything like that, but they CAN tell you whether or not you have someone in your family who`s name starts with a J.

  • @toddmastria1 you are right, they do exist! Only they're not called "Psychics", they're called "Liars"

  • And that is so true, maybe we want hear them kind of things psychic do,cause they are not GOD.they are just some people who claim to have special gifts more so then others, but charge a arm and leg to get a reading

  • glad to see Randi still in his prime

  • of course most of this is crap, but I do believe humans have psychic ability. I don't think there is anyone who can exercise much control over it. thus no lottery winners, or casino busters. On the other hand, who can say, maybe some lottery winners have "seen" their winning number as a result of psychic ability without realizing it.

  • this is fake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What's sad is if the "psychics" actually believe that they're psychic. I understand if they do it for the money. They may be douches, but they're still human then.

  • Uri Geller is scum.

  • "Astrology is a bunch of crap too. As well as every other claim of the supernatural and paranormal" You may want to tell that to all of the spirits who have hung around me, playing jokes and doing things in front of witnesses. My first experience was a candle stick flying into the bathroom. You tend to believe after that!

  • thumbs up if you're watching this video last-minute for your science and pseudoscience class with prof lee :D

  • The guy at 0:18 may not be a psychic, but he's the best goddamn theremin player around.

  • No you did fool me. This is a evil video with evil lie, it seem easy to spot, guess not for the average person today. The 70's guy was probably real and James Randi too.

  • Well Tom you conned us this time ol' buddy (:

  • Here is a question I would like to ask. If Psychics are for real then explain to me why you never see the following headlines...

    Psychic Wins Lottery

    Psychic Bankrupts Casino

Psychic saves the Lives of thousands from Devastating Earthquake

    Psychic helps prevent terrorist attack

If Psychics are who they say they are they should be able to do the following right? And BTW, Astrology is a bunch of crap too. As well as every other claim of the supernatural and paranormal.

  • @Diffmania We don't use our abilities to disrupt Gods plan.

  • @theUSER101 what does that mean?

  • @theUSER101 which God's plan??

  • @Diffmania maybe they do, but the american government just keeps it top secret?

  • @Diffmania :::The supernatural is a bunch of crap? You sound like you really know what you are talking about, but you are just guessing. You can't prove it one way or the other, so why should we accept what you say? I will say the opposite, that the supernatural, psychics, God etc. do exist. I may not be able to prove it beyond the shadow of a doubt, but I can point you to a mountain of evidence. Remember, it is hard to prove a negative.

  • @k0smon What evidence exactly? Just because you can't disprove something doesn't mean that the idea of it existing and it not existing are of equal weight and merit. It is unreasonable to assume, for example, that there is a china teapot floating in space a la Russels teapot, or the example of a dragon in a garage. I'd also point out that any kind of supernatural claim should be met with skepticism.

  • @Darkstar1484 ::: How about we should meet any sort of supernatural claim with objectivity, not skepticism.

Take UFOs. If we can explain 95% of those sightings, it still leaves us with that pesky 5% that could very well be real. Since ~1850, psychics and mediums and seances have been studied in depth. There are some cases that are faked, but the majority test out as being what was claimed from the start.

  • @Darkstar1484 :::: If you show me a field containing 100 white cats and say :"All cats are white", how many black cats do I have to show you to prove you are wrong?

Studies done at U of Arizona with psychics resulted in a high percentage of correct happenings. Listen to the interviews with those who have had contact with the psychic. They are way more positive than negative.

Those who have studied NDEs over the years (Drs Moody, Morse, Kubler-Ross) come away believing that they are true.

  • @Diffmania Most of the people who are capable of producing phenomenon prefer not to be known for such, be it for personal reasons, or because their religious beliefs forbid them. Believe me, if I were to run around winning millions upon millions of dollars, while touting that I had done so utilizing "psychic powers", my life as a rich, benevolent super human would be short lived at best.

  • @Diffmania ::: What is your expertise in the field of parapsychology that you come off making dogmatic statements about the supernatural and paranormal? What makes your statements anything more than guesses? Everyone has an opinion, so state it as such and stop with the false bravado. Your supposed expertise is what is 'a bunch of crap' here.

  • @Diffmania It depends what you consider supernatural and paranormal.

  • @Diffmania I love you. You're the embodiment of everything I respect.

  • @Diffmania With powers come responsibility, some people don't want publicity. Do something like that and you completely put yourself for praise (which I would hate). Now if someone tells you they are a psychic they have no real ability's, a real practitioner of Psi would call themselves a Psi Mage or Magician they can use telekinesis and read mind's, and influence thoughts not tell the future.

  • @arishokful

I challenge you to find someone to read my mind. Hell, I'll give everything I own to the first person to read my thoughts. And I mean literally, "Right now you're thinking 'this guy is an idiot'" Not "draw something on a piece of paper and I'll guess what it is!"

  • @atalkingcow I promise you chances are you will never meet someone with any magickal abilities. Most of these teachings on Magick are backwash crap rituals with no effect what so ever. Real magick is using your will to affect your reality. Most occultists don't achieve results

  • @arishokful

Well, if you can't prove it exists, it doesn't exist. If in 60 odd years (or however long he's been doing it) Mr Randi hasn't managed to find someone with real psychic or magical powers, they probably don't exist.

If I had said powers, I wouldn't give a shit about the money, I would show up just to prove that I have them.

  • @atalkingcow If you were very powerful you would say nothing. To achieve such power takes time by the time you achieve the power you have wisdom. No wise man boasts

  • @atalkingcow Oh yeah, Randi has lost all credibility ever since he lied. He tried to discredit a biologist, Randi himself even admitted he lied. Imagine what else he has lied about

  • @atalkingcow One more thing, James Randi thinks pigs can fly. No one can prove the paranormal doesn't exist, ask any scientist. Its IMPOSSIBLE

  • @arishokful

No shit sherlock. But the burden of proof is on the affirmative. You can't prove I didn't kill the president. You have to prove I did. You also can't prove that I'm not God, I would have to prove that I am.

  • @atalkingcow Read up on Aleister Crowley, that should change your perspective.

  • @arishokful

Not even slightly. You can name as many bullshit artists as you want, until I see a demonstration of real psychic power under test conditions, it doesn't exist.

  • @atalkingcow You obviously have no understanding of who aleister crowley is."People who met Crowley verified that he had occult powers, Seabrook wanted a demonstration of Crowley's powers, so the latter chose a man by random out on the street and followed him, imitating his walk. Suddenly Crowley fell but was rapidly on his feet again. At the same time the other man fell on the sidewalk. Crowley and his companion helped the man up, and he looked confused, trying to find the banana peel."

  • @arishokful People who met Uri Geller verified that he had occult powers. They were wrong.

  • Comment removed

  • @Diffmania My thought is that i dont think it necessarily works like that. ppl choose what they want to believe. many ppl cant handle those kinds of things. besides we dont live in a perfect world so tragedies will happen. even though they are horrible, they are meant to happen. not many ppl understand this but we learn from them and grow. but i mean everyone has their own opinion and thoughts. which is why you dont hear about a lot of things happening in the world.

  • @JustAwesome58 Fuck me drunk are you dumb.

  • @Diffmania Because with those abilities comes the realization that all those things do not matter

  • @TheodorBjork The only thing that matters is bilking grandma out of 300 dollars. Tell us all how you feel about professional wrestling.

  • Here's a surefire way to tell if a psychic is lying: they claim to be psychic. If anyone claims to converse with the spirits of the dead, or be able to read someone's aura, they're full of shit.

  • @hobokombat ::: Those with that ability might just turn around and say YOU are full of it. Please tell us your expertise in this field so we will think you are not just guessing.

  • ...there is no spoon

  • @lachlunn The spoon is a lie!

  • fuck this video even back then it was sponsored by LOCKHEED and JOHNSON & JOHNSON.

  • i have prooved it randi is a fraud,I HAVE D PROOF OF ALIENS SPIRITS.LOOKY LOOK ON MY SITE YOU WILL C

  • its so sad how randi has wasted his life forcing sceptical belief. chill out man! people who have faith arent gonna change. life needs mystery or theres no point to it!

  • @guineapiggyman i dont see how demasking frauders is sad,,,,,,,,,,people like geller who admit today that he his just a magician....should be keep far away from children and naive people...randi has nothing to do with faith he never did attacked mainstream religion.....he merely show out frauders technique.....and beleive me lot of them out there..so maybe you chill out lol

  • How to get the $1 million:-

    1) Write "I predict you won't pay up" and seal it in an envelope.

    2) Put that envelope inside another with a letter explaining that the contents of the second envelope are proof that you can see the future.

    3) Send it to Randi

    4) The only way he can avoid the prediction being accurate is to pay up.

Now I just need his address....

  • Randi was a psychic and so is a total hypocrite,

E.S.P. Is totally proven by all top scientists.

The only reason that psychics don't claim the £1,000,000 prize is because they dont want it and their powers don't work for evil ( all money is evil).

Randi is a liar and should STFU and leave Uri geller alone.

  • @BriansBannister Pure rubbish! Please, provide a reference for that claim for scientists 'proving' E.S.P.! Since WHEN has Randi demonstrated genuine psychic powers in the absence of trickery?

Money, by itself, is not necessarily evil; rather the ABUSE of money is what is evil. Even if the psychics do not want the million dollar prize they must STILL take the controlled tests in order to demonstrate that they actually have such powers, without resorting to trickery.

  • @Chirno9Icefall LOL! You been trolled. Sorry dude.

  • @BriansBannister Can you actually contest my response, and contribute something intelligent for a change?

  • @Chirno9Icefall Why would I contest your response when i agree with you?

  • @BriansBannister **FACEPALM**

I actually DIS-agree with your original message, henceforth my response was made. Have the 'scientists' actually used properly controlled conditions to test claims of ESP? Any evidence of ESP has been weak at best.

I find no reason to believe that Randi is a fraud or hypocrite, no reason at all.

  • @Chirno9Icefall Are you a mong? I just fucking told ya I was trolling ya you tit. Of course you disagree with my original message I was taking the piss when I wrote it to see if anyone would fall for it but even though I told you that you still don't get it.

  • @BriansBannister Hahahahaha.. xP

Not all trolls actually joke in their messages

  • @Chirno9Icefall True. ESP has no falsifiability. It's such a broad claim with so many outs that people cannot test it accurately...so people believe it for some reason.

  • oh god -.- which craft and satenism is bull enough

  • Everyone is intuitve at birth, the illusion that stops this is fear and ego.

  • I WANT A MILLION DOLLARS! I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT! I guess I'm not powerful like Gellar. damn

  • I saw this special when I was 10 and got it on vhs when I was about 18. If you enjoy this you should read Flim-Flam! by James Randi. thank you for making this available to everybody.

  • Actually no need for debunking when it comes to Geller, one just has to ponder what "the CRACK is becoming bigger" has to do with melting metal...

  • google Doe's Account.

  • Don't laugh, this is science. LOLLLL. Love James Randi!

  • Hold the spoon "very gently" {so it doesn't begin to bend until I say it will}...such BS!

  • Thanks for sharing this!

  • There are supernatural things. They are just very rare.

  • @streetcornerjames like what?

  • "Wanting things can make them so." That claim definitely had to be challenged.

  • Saw this yesturday during Social Science class totaly love it anyone who claims psychics and mindbending are real can jump off a bridge.

  • dick head.

  • uri bent your dick!

  • I love the "HEAL JESUS" faceslap that granny got.

  • COBRA!!

  • Infinitely patient, James Randi receives my utmost respect for his rational scepticism and honesty. One of the only men who i've ever come across who speaks clearly.

  • not biggger then uri geller ;P

  • "Wanting things makes them so."

    I want a job!

    XD

  • Comment removed

  • if they have special "powers" then they are either very lame or they are plain stupid.

What point of claiming you are psyhic? better keep it secret and use it for your own good ;P

  • What are you antisocial?...use it for your own good...not much of a humanitarian are you?

  • @goshky In reality whether it's real or not he did "use it for his own good". He made it onto shows and made money off of his claim.

  • Uri Geller claims to be able to melt metal and he uses his psychic metal melting powers to melt spoons?!!! Lousy spoons? Isn't anyone other than James Randi using their brain? Isn't anyone asking questions? Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Randi has proved how their tricks can easily be duplicated 100%. There are even videos showing Geller cheating. If there are videos that clearly show him cheating then why do people still believe in this? World is full of gullible fools.

  • THE BOTTOM LINE IS THIS>>>If there are REAL psychics or people with some sort of supernatural powers then why hasn't anyone taken on James Randi's challenge??? His prize has gone from $10 thousand to $1.1 million. Come on! Give me a good excuse as to why no one has won Randi's prize in almost half a century!!! The only half-descent argument I've heard is that they don't do it for the money...but I was just wondering...couldn't they take Randi's money & give it to charity??? Charlatans! Scum!

  • 9:18-9:28, really listen to what he is saying there... he is not proving that the individuals were using the same methods he uses in any way, you have to catch them in the act to really prove this. He's merely showing you that there are ways to fake it to have a similar effect. It doesn't mean that these things don't exist, when will you people learn?

  • And proof that every demonstration so far is fluke somehow makes you think psychic people do exist?

  • no, experiencing it firsthand myself makes me know it does exist. as for all these individuals I don't know whether or not they are for real, I would have to see them doing it and talk to them to be able to tell. Most of the people James Randi exposes ARE fakers though.

  • What did you actually experience?

  • Well then hurry up and try for Randi's million dollar prize before it's discontinued.

  • I'm running... I'm running...

  • They won't ever learn, because they don't want to learn. They're totally closed-minded.

  • But he gives us plenty of reason to doubt psychics by showing this, especially with what he shows afterwords, Uri Geller failing to perform his feats on the tonight show with props he did not bring himself.

Besides, the burden of proof lies in the one who makes the claim. Randi claims there are serious reasons to doubt that psychics actually have any power and provides proof of THAT claim via demonstration. No psychic has ever provided any indisputable, rational proof of THEIR claims

  • If someone does something & claims it is magical but then someone else reproduces that same conjuring trick and claims that it is just an illusion then what is likely to be true? Clearly common sense would point toward the initial claim by the so-called psychic/magician would be false. But I guess common sense isn't so common.

  • like I said, even James Randi himself admits that he is not using the exact same methods that the psychics use. Blowing on the pen in the beginning of the video is DIFFERENT than Alavina Gradova because she made the pen move side to side not just rolling forward (James can't move it back by blowing on it can he?) Just like how James can only move objects with strings to mimic Nina Kulagina but he didn't do it with a cover over it. So they are not exactly the same "conjuring trick" are they?

  • James Randi has NEVER said that there are no psychics or spirits. He has always claimed that IF there are such things then prove it under controlled conditions where the possibility of cheating is eliminated. THE APPLICANTS GET TO DESIGN THE TEST. You are not addressing that point at all...you have not even made an attempt to answer it. The essence of a scientist or a researcher is NOT to say that there are no such things but to ask proof of them. But that's science & all else is trickery.

  • I don't want to make it seem like I am dodging your point so I will explain this to you...when James Randi duplicates people's tricks and he can't just spend every single day of every hour going around just duplicating tricks so people like you are happy...then he is wasting his time. Rather the onus is on anyone who claims to have supernatural powers to PROVE that they are for real. If I make a claim that I can heal people with the power of my mind I am the one who has to show it, not you.

  • In order to be able to apply for the James Randi test one must first get media coverage and a written recommendation from a professor..... that is why it is hard for real practitioners to get to take the challenge. Look it up yourself, it is not as easy as walking in and taking the test, not everyone is eligible.

  • Good. They should not require a a written recommendation from a professor. They should require a written letter from a psychologist and a mental health clinic to make sure they're not insane. This is all stupidity and paranormal nonsense. If you're defending it then our conversation is over because you do not believe in asking difficult questions. You take the easy route; it is easier to believe than not to believe.

  • And here it is, evidence of your biased opinion. On the contrary, nowadays it is much easier not to believe than to believe, and I'm not a believer, I know. Also you said "you do not believe in asking difficult questions" like what? I do ask the difficult questions, and probably too difficult for you to take seriously, it's because I also ask difficult questions of James Randi that you have become offensive. I have asked the difficult questions of psionics and got my answers already.

  • It would be easier to say that psychic powers do exist and that there is an afterlife with fluffy clouds where people can live on forever in absolute serenity but the reality that Atheists & skeptics believe in abandons any such ridiculous notions in the pursuit of knowledge and truth. You claim not to be a believer just as Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort profess to have been at one point but in reality you are just like them. You poison the good name of science with your nonsense & fake skepticism

  • That is because for many years the challenge was open to everyone and it was a huge waste of time taking every on-comer, most of them failing MISERABLY. He's also been accused of only taking on the easy cases.

You can still make it though even if you are an unknown. You just have to be pre-tested at one of the many skeptical locations around the World.

If someone really had powers of some sort. It would be no problem for them to demonstrate them and make them self eligible of the million.

  • @prpayne123

Jean-Pierre Girard did it, in face of scientist and illusionists.

  • If he didn't have such prelimnary parts, he would be overwhelmed.

  • Exactly.

All the Randi process of demystification is based on preliminary parts.

And of course we don't see his own manipulation with the box of glass.

All video of Randi show a real faker, ready to lie only with tenuous evidences.

  • in my view no one as ever proved it is possible to communicate wiyh dead people. There are many people who appear to be making lots of money from it,Some high profile psychics block any user on youtube who dare question their claims. In my view they are deluded or plain dishonest

  • @dylans8 Or both.

  • @dylans8 I can think of at least one high profile person of significant importance in our society who has absolutely denounced the ability of the dead to commincate with the living.

  • @dylans8 ::: Not only possible, but being done. Watch the stories of those who have had NDEs, and have spoken to 'dead' relatives. There are still a few materialization mediums around, the best known one in Australia. There is a field of investigation, EVP, that is able to record voices on tape. There is a wider world out there than you have experienced.

  • james randis head is upside down

  • We need to develop a Randi clone before he dies.

    TO THE SKEPTMOBILE

  • Mr. fellow atheist, that is the funniest thing I have read in Youtube comments for quite some time! The Skeptmobile! Can we be joint superheros? Skeptic-man and God-botherer! I like it, Sir. I really like it.

  • lulz

  • praise the lord its a miracle !!! lol lol

magic i love magic but not when it hurts and preys on ppl who are vunerable

  • I just say "bend, bend baby!"

  • I've had deja'vu but I think is just my brain expecting the outcome of a situation. Just a conditioned responce maybe?

  • Also I would have James Randi's demon children <33

  • Oh, YouTube, you beautiful medium through which armchair physicists and philosophers can commune in circle jerks of the most mind-numbing degree.

Without you, my palm wouldn't hit my face nearly enough times to meet the recommended daily amount (put forth, of course, by the GNAA).

  • Randi should come to africa the home of voodoo and ancient witchcraft. He will become a 'juju' worshipper. lol

  • The guy James Randi adores the most is Basava Premananda, an Indian skeptic. Randi calls him "the king" and is one of his best friends. People in the west do not know the amount of work Premananda has carried out in India, despite many public beatings and numerous attempts in his life.

  • I believe that some people do have psychic abilities but I believe there are FEW who are legitimate.

  • I believe you are desperate to believe that there are some unexplainable things in the world.

I believe you really need to let go of that nonsense. You'll be happier.

  • the nonsense of psychics or the "nonsense" that there are some unexplained things in the world?

I don't think you phrased that properly, because you sound way smarter than that.

  • Forgive me--the nonsense of "psychics".

The world still holds many mysteries, especially in the ocean--and space is still a mystery for all the little knowledge we have.

I love mysteries--but practical mysteries, the kind that you can solve. Psychics are frauds. I despise them because they pervert natural human curiosity and make people ignorant. I hate them. All tricksters, really.

  • I appreciate your opinion, but Randi has been offering 1M dollars to ANYONE that can PROVE their ability. It's been about 12 years or so, with numerous claims and tests performed and none have been able to prove their ability is legitimate. I mean, don't you think that by now someone would have been awarded the million? I mean, Randi began with 10K in the early 80s, no one could back then and even with the "upgrade" in quantity, still no one can.

  • Randi rules

  • used to love nova they did shows on kool things in science....now its just crap....nothing but discovery channel ecotech like shitty shows...

  • omg get a life!! such powers are not for sale. EVEN IF THEY DO EXIST (in which many of us doesn't believe anymore) they remain hidden. a real psychic wouldn't sell himself

. and randi is the best debunker ever :)

  • a person can change their mind and sell themselves later in life. It's all about willpower.

  • I wish I could give you another thumbs down, but it seems everyone hates you enough already.

  • im catholic. the bible says nothing about psychics being real. in fact it directly denounces them. so even though psychics are easily disproven by science, you cant justify them with religion either.

  • So, you don't believe in psychics, but you do believe in an almighty god that can do anything? Kind of ironic to me...

  • i believe in a creator. no person on earth can prove there is no God. proving a psychic false is pretty easy.

  • How can you believe in a creator? It's like believing in santa or the easter bunny.

  • answer this question. if the big bang created the universe, who or what created the big bang? this isnt proof that God exists, but it shows that you cant prove he doesnt exist. the rest falls on faith.
