To current film fans in this day and age, if a film is in black-and-white, or doesn't have any CGI effects involved, it isn't worth their viewing time, which is completely the opposite. Some of the greatest films of all time have been in B&W. Personally, check out the Buster Keaton silent film "Steamboat Bill, Jr." (1928), and watch the ending...I think you'll enjoy it...
