Taking in consideration the emulation part, this runs pretty well. Judging the performance, it is roughly 386 level through your dosbox. Taking in consideration the OS of your netbook already using up a lot of the resources, dosbox runs pretty decently. And the game itself is great too. I just hate the yellow super Hulk on level 7. With the smart missiles and the other enemies in the room it is really nasty.
tested this with wave blaster or general midi through ubuntu 10.10 my Toshiba NB505 and works good, only few small lag like shooting but it was fun with an atom processor
does it really run smooth? i had a celeron conroe overclocked to 3.2 ghz in my desktop pc and some games weren't smooth, and the atom is a much weaker CPU than that...
Hi there, did you achieve to emulate properly using an Atom 1,6 CPU? I've installed DosBox already in my Acer AspireOne and i'm not able to make it work properly... Could you please explain the values of your DosBox config file?
Yes, this was installed and running on an 8.9 inch Acer Aspire ONE with Atom 1.6GHz processor. I don't recall editing the config file at all, other than to add a mount command to my dos games directory. I simply ran the Descent installer under DOSBox and it works great. The only thing that looks interesting the in config is that xms, ems and umb are all set to true.

This game was released at 1995, do you really think that computers of that age had more processing power than yours?

in dosbox, the processor does have to emulate a complete platform, that's a lot more demanding than just running a game in native mode
