  • Mate. This had me in stitches. Thanks for the laugh even though it is serious.

    Cheers,

    Maureen - Australia.

  • I wish people would get the point you're trying to make in your video.

It's like blaming the government that a doctor did a bodgy job on your heart surgery because the government funded your operation.

The alternative is that the government pre-emptively regulates every single possible industry to ensure dodgy operators don't get in.

  • @MikeT2005 Thanks Mike - I am very happy that you got the point :-) It is a very slippery slope to blame the government for industrial accidents - or any other accident for that matter. The government knows that people die on the roads yet they continue to fund roads and offer tax incentives to car manufacturers without ensuring the cars are 100% safe. The doctor example is equally valid.

  • @MikeT2005 i'm sorry mate, but the incompetence of the government is completely responsible for this disaster. just the same as they're responsible for the $167 billion debt which we have to borrow money off asia to pay for.

  • @Soundgarden8497 $167 Billion in government debt is small for a country with a GDP of over $1.5 Trillon. And lets not forget the total lack of infrastructure spending under the previous federal government - a government who believed the private sector should foot the bill for poor public assets which could have been improved by the public sector at much lower cost of funds. Under what economic theory is government debt always a bad thing? Retarded economic theory is what.

  • @MikeT2005 $167 billion is a small debt? lol... are you a troll? we didn't even need to go into debt, it's just that labor are utterly hopeless when it comes to running the economy... ask ANY business owner and see what they say. end of "discussion"

  • @Soundgarden8497 Just look at the Government Debt-to-GDP ratios of other developed countries. And why would I ask business owners? Any idiot can run a business in this country. The vast majority of business owners in this country do not have degrees in economics, public policy, finance or commerce. I'd rather ask university lecturers with doctorates in economics, which I've already done.

  • @MikeT2005 just look at all the failed schemes of the government: education revolution... overpriced buildings which the schools didn't need, the house insulation scheme... total failure.... national broadband... COMPLETE budget blow out and waste of money. Even the CEO of Telstra at the time said it was a complete waste of money, and i'm sure he has MORE idea than you. I'll repeat: Australia HAD a brilliant economy and didn't NEED to go into debt AT ALL.

  • @Soundgarden8497 Funny. The National Broadband network is a complete blowout when the construction phase has barely begun? Link me one news story showing that the NBN is over budget please. And building school buildings schools don't need? Haven't you heard of this incredible thing called "population growth"? Better to build an under-utilised building now than have over-crowded classrooms for years whilst the school system catches up. Sorry but your arguments are fail.

  • @MikeT2005 your logic is flawed... in that scenario it would be the government's fault for choosing a dodgey doctor in the first place. it's called management... everything has to be qualified and all foreseeable risks identified... none of which the government does

  • @Soundgarden8497 Hospitals hire doctors, not the government. Under your logic, the government should be required to interview doctors, or constantly be looking over the shoulder of the people who are hiring doctors. What else should they be doing? Regulating hair-dressers so people don't get bad haircuts? Regulating mechanics so people don't get bodgy jobs done on their cars? It shouldn't be the governments responsibility to wrap everyone up in cotton wool. Caveat emptor anyone?

  • Very good that was great
