I watched Elvis in Concert on the 3rd of October 1977, i remember it like it was 5 minutes ago. I was 12 years old in December of 1977. Elvis fan since i was 6. Elvis the king forever.
All this makes me happy to share, especially to rare document that I sort of my personal collection, and even the show I recorded the concert in October 3rd, 1977,
unfortunately, i wasn't born until Feb '78. what was going through your mind when you first saw the Special?
Besides just loving to hear from those who actually were there, I ask also because I'm many times shocked & impressed to hear or read some of the reactions to this, etc.
To some, it brings them to tears & they never watch it again, others get angry complaining he "let himself go" (bullshit) or how could they let alone film it but televise it after his death.
wow. new to me. what was CBS thinking. I guess advertising wasn't their strong point. Here you have stack of footage from the June Tour. Out of all that footage, they choose Jailhouse Rock for a commercial along with pics from previous years. I think they did an AWFUL job editing the special itself & I stand firmly behind the belief that this "editing" was done to put a "spin" on it with shock value as the bottom line.

@Phoenix7878
We've all seen the outtakes. Out of all that footage, CBS chose some of the most unflattering footage & angles they could.
Where's "Trying to Get to You", or "It's Now or Never", "And I Love You So", "Little Sister", "If You Love Me Let Me Know", etc.
This is just my opinion......but.......thank you so much for uploading this. It's rare & I've never seen it before. Thanks!!!!
