  • Jaci. Thanks for e-mail address. However, have you made a mistake on it? E-mail sent to you returned -failure!!

  • Sorry. I've sent you another message with - hopefully - the correct address.

    Regards

  • o.k. It is based on an actual historical person who existed in the Roman era. Frankly I am surprised no one has written a novel on the person. Would also make a terrific movie! I keep looking behind my shoulder,so to speak, in case someone else has had a novel published on the same!! Thank you for taking the time to respond and for your invaluable video tuition. _fellow Welshman(ex Merthyr Tydfil). Do you have a favourite author? Regards...

  • Let's talk on e-mail. I have sent you a message with my address. There's not much room here for long chats

    Regards

  • When you say 'same hero' are you referring to a real historical person?

My instinct would be to carry on because historical events are open to interpretation and each writer's slant on the facts will be unique. When one genre proves a success, other publishers quickly jump on the bandwagon looking for something similar. Keep going I say.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks for your reply three weeks ago. What I am attempting to have clarified is:what if another writer has taken the same theme as me(same hero, same events in history and has been offered a publishing contract?). Do I carry on(who'll want it?) or find another story? It must be a wonderful feeling to have one's first novel published!

  • Jaci,

What happens if someone else writes a novel on the same period of history as I am?! The same story, so to speak? Carry on or choose another subject? Grateful for a reply. Thanks.

  • Hi. That's going on all the time and doesn't matter. Two writers or even more can start out with the same idea, but because each is a unique individual the completed works will be utterly different to each other. I say press on regardless with your story - only you can tell the story your way. George Polti says there are only 36 dramatic situations of interest to the human mind. Writers have been feeding off these 36 ideas for hundreds of years, giving them their own twist. So keep writing.

  • Do you mind me asking how old you were when your first novel was published? Although I've been 'playing' with writing for many years, I wonder if it's too late to have a published novel, as the publishing industry seems more concerned with young writers: under thirty.

  • I was finally published when I was 64. I recently read of one lady being published for the first time at 88!

If an older writer's work has merit he/she will eventually be published. But a prospective publisher will want to know that the writer has stamina and will produce more novels.

    Age really is no barrier.

  • Love your dogs. loved the video..
