Refs a total joke in game 5. All series long on Haslem... Game 5, going to be tied 102 all with lebron going to FT line, joey crawford calls charge when Chandlers foot is clearly in the restricted area. Another thing, Lebron, 15 points isn't nearly enough with Wade going down. Another thing Lebron, terrible defense on Terry down the stretch. It led to Terry 3 and terry penetrate for Kidd 3. Just awful.

The weather is warm, the stars are aligned and the great debate will soon come to an end. Say what you will about the great duo of Wade and James but your argument will not hold water when this series concludes. Both Wade and James will get their due points but their bench players will cost them their chance of a repeat of 2006. Miami does not have the depth of the Mavs and this is where Miami will be exposed and ultimately loose in game 6.

They seemed to come together for the next game and they played with such confidence and conviction. Their level of play continued through the Lakers and Oklahoma series and their three pt shooting was nothing short of magical. I just felt the only way the Heat had a chance was to leave Wade, James and Bosh on the court each game for the full 48min. On a side note....I am from Dallas.

see the problem with your comparison is that the HEAT won the 2006 nba title..they didn't have anything to prove the next year... Dallas COULDN'T AFFORD to be tough. Refs would call flagrant fould for even tinking about defense. FFS, they were calling fouls for not touching Wade. Refs made it imposible to play defense. This was in same range with Lakers-Kings ripoff. And latter, they say Dirk chokes and he is soft. It takes great mental toughnes to not kick ref's but for ripping you off.
Everyone has their opinion. Driving to the rim is not a flop. A defensive player flops to draw a charge. Wade is always amongst the leaders in free throws. 64 ft in 3 games averages to 21 FT/ game. That's 10 or 11 drives to the hoop in one game. That's about 2-3 drives to the hoop per quarter. THATS NOTHING. If the mavs were tougher and drove to the hoop, maybe they would have gotten more foul calls & shot more free throws.

There were no less than 20 of these flops in the series.

Just watched this again...there needs to be a compilation of all the phantom calls in this series. Wade went to the line twice as many times in that series than Jordan ever did in any playoff series. The refs screwed the mavs in this series. D wade shot 25 free throws by himself in game 6 while the whole entire mavericks team only shot 25. If you're getting all the calls...of course you're gonna look unstoppable. I've never seen lebron, kobe, or MJ shoot that many free throws in a play off game where they allow physical defense to be played. Bulls fan here. I saw MJ get some unbelievable calls in his day but I don't remember anything like that series. First lets all agree that there wasn't a foul committed so that's #1. #2 It's an unwritten rule that unless there is a clear, obvious foul you don't blow the whistle with the game on the line. I remember when the Donaghy allegations came out I immediately assumed he was officiating. One of the worst calls in the history of the NBA and unfortunately one of the most important.
The 2006 NBA Finals... in my opinion, (along with Tim Donaghy and other instances in the recent past) has significantly contributed to the reputation of NBA officiating, which has obviously been tarnished.
Exciting players (i.e Dwayne Wade) receive favorable calls in the NBA.... it's part of how they promote the game. In this instance, I feel pretty bad for the Mavs. Dirk deserves a ring, it's a shame he won't get one. The officials obviously interfered in this series, hard not to remember.

The defender still has the right to his space, aslo to top it off if your gonna call that bay foul why dont you call the foul at the beginging of the play where he knocks over the defender at half court. people don't remember these phantom fouls were in the last seconds of close games in the finals. It is common knowledge that officials usually "swallow their whistles" in those situations and let them play.

The weather is warm, the stars are aligned and the great debate will soon come to an end. Say what you will about the great duo of Wade and James but your argument will not hold water when this series concludes. Both Wade and James will get their due points but their bench players will cost them their chance of a repeat of 2006. Miami does not have the depth of the Mavs and this is where Miami will be exposed and ultimately loose in game 6.
The Mavs are on a mission and will not be denied.

They seemed to come together for the next game and they played with such confidence and conviction. Their level of play continued through the Lakers and Oklahoma series and their three pt shooting was nothing short of magical. I just felt the only way the Heat had a chance was to leave Wade, James and Bosh on the court each game for the full 48min. On a side note....I am from Dallas.

It's true, the refs do an awful job of anticipating the foul and call fouls where there is no foul.. Does that mean its fixed? No, it doesn't. You will get more calls the more you drive.... Dallas COULDN'T AFFORD to be tough. Refs would call flagrant fould for even tinking about defense. FFS, they were calling fouls for not touching Wade. Refs made it imposible to play defense. This was in same range with Lakers-Kings ripoff. And latter, they say Dirk chokes and he is soft. It takes great mental toughnes to not kick ref's but for ripping you off.

Everyone has their opinion. Driving to the rim is not a flop. A defensive player flops to draw a charge. Wade is always amongst the leaders in free throws. 64 ft in 3 games averages to 21 FT/ game. That's 10 or 11 drives to the hoop in one game. That's about 2-3 drives to the hoop per quarter. THATS NOTHING. If the mavs were tougher and drove to the hoop, maybe they would have gotten more foul calls & shot more free throws.

The refs screwed the mavs in this series. D wade shot 25 free throws by himself in game 6 while the whole entire mavericks team only shot 25. If you're getting all the calls...of course you're gonna look unstoppable. I've never seen lebron, kobe, or MJ shoot that many free throws in a play off game where they allow physical defense to be played. Bulls fan here. I saw MJ get some unbelievable calls in his day but I don't remember anything like that series. First lets all agree that there wasn't a foul committed so that's #1. #2 It's an unwritten rule that unless there is a clear, obvious foul you don't blow the whistle with the game on the line. I remember when the Donaghy allegations came out I immediately assumed he was officiating. One of the worst calls in the history of the NBA and unfortunately one of the most important.

The 2006 NBA Finals... in my opinion, (along with Tim Donaghy and other instances in the recent past) has significantly contributed to the reputation of NBA officiating, which has obviously been tarnished.
Exciting players (i.e Dwayne Wade) receive favorable calls in the NBA.... it's part of how they promote the game. In this instance, I feel pretty bad for the Mavs. Dirk deserves a ring, it's a shame he won't get one. The officials obviously interfered in this series, hard not to remember.

@nowitzki41fan it started during lakers vs sacramento nearly 10 years ago. It was just obvious in the finals with mavs and heat that the officiating was rigged. Wade is just a product of the officials. Hes nothing, ever since we lost the finals mavs has never been the same. But theres a new vibe now, with chandler, roddy comming back, a sense of unity that we havnt had since the finals i have a feeling somthing amazing will happen this year.

people don't remember these phantom fouls were in the last seconds of close games in the finals. It is common knowledge that officials usually "swallow their whistles" in those situations and let them play.

I'm not a heat fan, and i could care less about the Mavericks so i watched this series from an objective point of view and it was clearly bias in favor of Wade. It was unbelievable, i could barely believe what i was seeing.

is it just me or is it ONLY heat fans or wade fans that think the series was called evenly? if anyone actually watched games 3 and 5 they can see wade is the best actor in the league, not ginobili or varejao. He flopped and threw up circus shots every time he went to the basket and the refs kept calling it like he was fouled

I'm a huge mavs fan. We got our asses handed too us against golden state in 07. But anybody that says this finals against the heats wasn't officiated in there favor is in complete deninal. Was there a game were wade had over 20 foul shots? Cmon 20 free throw shots. Then there was the oh so famous back court volition at the end of another that was committed by wade that amazingly went undetected. Mavs got screwed big time and i haven't been to big on the nba since.

yep. this was a horrible moment in sports history. i also feel bad for heat fans because people don't give them credit for that championship. its a shame that it couldn't have been just a fair series. but that just wasn't the case. heat fans are still to this day trying to rationalize what happened. d wade is a god on the court, but he did not earn that ring.
