Punks usually are the biggest sellouts, despite always talking the talk more than artists of any other musical genre. Iggy "Smash the system, but make sure you're covered for the damage costs incurred" Pop, John 'Discovery Channel' Lydon and Alexei "was a communist, but will voice over any ad you want for cash" Sayle are three of the most annoying ones.
As much as punk changed music, it's mostly just NME-approved posturing. The much maligned prog acts had/have way more integrity and balls.
I don't see why every one of you retards make Iggy some kind of bad guy for doing a god damn commercial. It just seems like you all forget what he has DONE for music...and god knows what he went through throughout his career. If anything Iggy diserves it...PAY him..PAY him double and PAY him now...it's about damn time.
@tubbythug92 because iggy has always been against advertising dumbwit! just watch his interviews, hes basically just sold his core belief system and everything his ever stood for!!
Who gives a fuck? He STILL is an important person to punk and rock n roll itself. Who gives a shit if he is in a car commerical add. Besides, you need money..don't you? You half a brain.
It's like watching a little whore being sprayed in the face with tiny business men dicks in a big circle jerk not too far from the end of Requiem for a Dream.
If Swiftcover is the worst insurance there is, then they did their homework in recruiting Iggy Pop to do their commercials. Iggy makes anything instantly awesome.
Does anyone know if swiftcover has finally offered Iggy a insurance policy for his car....last I had heard was that they didn't insure musicians and entertainers!!!
If iggy was dying of cancer and needed the money for treatment, would we be pissed that he was doing this for the money? In the end, he owes us nothing. Your images or ideas of him have been changed...or ruined. So what. Get a life.
It's not about money and it's not about him trying to sell us a product. But, man, put a shirt on, sit behind a desk and do it. Gyrating half-naked like he did on-stage when he was twenty, scandalizing crowds, is simply turning himself into a caricature. What was once sexy, dionysian, provocative performance is now reduced to a harmless, limp marketing tool. Unless it's meant as some sort of self-depricating, ironic humour. Sure, times have changed but still, some things should be held sacred.
I just watched Iggy's most recent Letterman appearance. Very hard to watch. It was Iggy trying to be Iggy in all the wrong places--bad moves all labored and weak. His most recent CD, Préliminaires, was a good way for him to shift gears and get away from the 40 year old and younger Iggy persona--like Robert Plant has done over the past few years...easing off the 25 year old Plant moves and screams. Your point is well taken. Shirt on, mellowed out Iggy is what we should hope for--or demand
Iggy selling car insurance (who apparently don't insure professional musicians) is just pathetic. It's not even like it just has footage of him on it, he waxes lyrical about the benefits of Swift cover, it's nauseating.

110 percent man.
Seriously, what the fuck was Iggy thinking when he was acting this, let alone TALKING about acting this.
That thought alone leads me to the very cold realisation that maybe Iggy has been dead for a long time.
Seriously, sometimes I wonder if famous people get killed and imposters take their places.
I mean, honestly, how did he think this was gunna make him look? Even amongst his peers, let alone fans?
