  • My dad was a journeyman carpenter and a cabinet maker. I only wish he were alive to see the interplay of computer and jig: he would have loved it!

  • You should be rich and famous. Better than that New Yankee Workshop dude even.

  • How do you come up with this stuff? Simply amazing. Just add another stepper motor to push the stock through the blade and then return to zero and you won't have to do anything but click the mouse.

I need to take some computer courses at the local college so I can figure out how to make the computer controls and make similar things myself. CNC technology really interests me, but I am totally ignorant on how to design the electrical portion. Would love to learn it though.

  • Thanks for posting.

  • You know what? If you replace the computer with a PICAXE and a keyboard, and add another motor to the jig, you could have it make the cut on its own by the press of a button. You could even give the microprocessor control of the power to the saw and let it do everything on its own, except for mounting and removing the piece of wood into and from the jig.

  • How do yer computer breath under that plastic layer?

  • This guy deserves a Nobel Prize

  • Transformers :)

  • L0L 1:51 The Burr pullze gets live!

  • This is what software engineers and Hardware Technicians can do

  • Did it talk at the end? What do you eat for breakfast?

  • your smart eh?

  • this is amazing man

  • TE FELICITO QUE TRABAJO TAN BIEN HECHO, GRACIAS

  • you are awesome..

  • wow --thats beyond me -- but I give you alot of credit -- that computer jig is impressive --- can't imagine the kind of time a thought that went into it ---- good job

  • No he is not god, with these infernal machines, he is ol Nick himself, or he might be a visiting alien, or a time traveller, talking down to us poor ape men

don’t let the quiet laid back manner fool ya, , this is unnatural, cross yourself before

    watching more of these videos

  • A cross between Bill Gates and Fred Flintstone, great stuff.

  • Do you known the name of the Burr Puzzle you constructed. Also, do you have a pattern of this puzzle you could share or where one could obtain. Tks

  • use a led, or small halogen bulb so you dont melt your motherboard there

  • That's the equivalent to the Hellraiser cube in wood parts! :D

  • i really hope this guy is a fucking billionare cause if hes not hes wasting his life hahahah this is cRAZY

  • How is it connected to the computer?

    Serial port?

Can you please explain the workings of the program.

  • have you ever built a wooden rubix cube?

  • I have never seen one of those puzzles before, I would like to try one!

  • I bought that wooden puzzle from a Dollar store. lol.

  • The light bulb will over heat the component!

  • Put LED light, because you will overheat components with a light bulb.

  • dude u are awesome seriously never turn on a tv...!!!!!!!!!1

  • EPIC GENIUS!!!

  • shit :O :O

  • somehow, that looks more amusing than a rubix cube

  • Maybe use a Mortise Machine instead of the chisel.. :D

  • What? Qbasic?

    hmmm....

CONNECT A COMMODORE 64 TO THAT PUPPY!

  • lol

  • very nice

  • dude can you be my tech teacher?

all our current one does is lose our projects and ignore us!

  • that'd be like a calculus teacher teaching algebra students... lmao

  • wow. that's cool. I have got one really simple looking wooden puzzle. I can fix all of them accept the firt block as from the instruction. I wonder if someone could help.

  • I wonder what kind of machine, if any, would be able to automatically make all the cuts.

  • A computerised chisel perhaps?

  • I second that.

  • Your Like The Wooden Einstien Person Of Our Century

  • wow smart man

  • I love how at 1:51-1:56, the puzzle mmoves when he cuts the wood.

  • OK, now lets see an all wood CNC machine. LOL!

  • a DIY CNC MACHINE!!!

  • where can i buy one of these?

  • this reminds me of gmod...

  • Its really more computer assisted than controlled. Still very cool. You should do something similar with you mortise machine.

  • its cool and inventive but your taking the skill out of skilled labor.

  • r u god?

  • He's god in wood probably

  • @252Blade252 Nope, Haruhi Susimyai is :P

  • @252Blade252 Amen. This guy has like 10 brains.

  • i have a question where do you work

  • BUT you have to CALCULATE how much length does 1 motor's rotation moves the block ?

  • makes the rubiks cube seem like a dogs toy

  • this video makes me want 2 learn more about science!!!

  • genius

  • i want you to make something huge and get a world record.that would make me happy.

  • fuking genius!!

  • WHO IS THIS GUY ??? THE NEW DAVINCI ?

  • then think of the dude who invented that puzzle Ô.ô

  • maybe if you put a dado blade on it it might go a little faster but the again you would have to chnge the blades a whole lot

  • COOL!!!!!

  • Do you use any special type of wood to avoid a loosening problem?

I glued 123 1/2 inch oak cubes to form a 5x5x5 solid looking cube. It was hard to take apart, but easy to put together.

The only problem was after a lot of use and 10 years it began to loosen and was easier to take apart. Maybe it was the white glue I used to stick the pieces together.

  • how much for ur jig

  • I can do assemle that puzzle in 1 minute without instructions.

  • Okay. Sure. Post a video of that, then we'll talk.

  • You are some kind of genius......im glad that you do what you love...i wish i could do something like this =)

    God bless you!

  • como se llama maldito gringo aslo por ti mismo ok arriba teptoo!!!!!! cabrones!!!!!!

  • what are those puzzles called? are there any on the market? (I heard you speak about instructions so I thought they were)

controlling the thing with a mouse is just funny, lol

  • You've got a good knowledge of circuitry.

Nice rig and nice end product. Very interesting overall.

  • :O emoticon! ¿?

  • where do you get those?

or do you have to make them?

  • Amazing!!!

  • Very impressive.

  • amazing. one of few videos on youtube worth watching

  • Hey, I should point out that I didn't design that burr puzzle. The pattern came from the burr puzzle site.

  • I love your posts Matthias! You are a genius

  • Your videos are very cool, and I believe you are modern day genius.... keep on posting!

  • you are genius, man. how could you get such fantastic ideas?

  • canadian right :D?

  • What about extended periods of time with the light bulb? Couldn't that pose a heating risk?

  • i was thinking the same thing while watching the video

  • brilliant!!!!

I find all of your videos fantastic.....

  • amazing .............you know computers and woold

  • man I don't even know what woold is. :P

  • Do you have, like, a grant or something? Because I think you should have a grant or something.

  • this is phucking insane

    in a good way

  • Genius....

  • You are one super geek wood god.

  • I find that your videos are fantastic but after watching them, a gut feeling kicked in and it finally hit me.

Why is this person not taking things to the next level. Instead of building sample vaccum engines/pumps, wooden toy tracks, tenon jigs, portable stands (reinventing the wheel). I think you could honestly invent the next gen wheel.

Take take things up a notch, join some company/group that will financially back you so you can get the best of the best materials.

  • way cool. i stumbled across your jenga pistol video and subscribed. you are very creative. keep up the good work. :)

  • i made one of those wood puzzles in my shop class.

but i carved it with some chizle.

  • I actually had several jobs as a student writing software in Quick Basic. For in-house software running on an original 4.7 MHz IBM PC, it was a really good tool.

  • DOS QuickBASIC??!?! Man, I used to program games for QuickBASIC when I was a kid for years!

  • nice job man!
