Hi Vic, I loved this arrangement... I've got a question for you... how do you make your backing tracks?? or are they found somewhere in internet ?? I wanna take my practice to that level !!!! (see my video of autumn leaves if you can :D) !!
@kidpoker007 Sorry Ken, the fingerstyle was more in demand that'swhy I started with those, I will have some good lessons up on my own website in a while,Vic.
@kidpoker007 Under every Video you'll find my WebSite, there you'll find much Info on my work, on my YT channel there are some free Jazz lessons and on my channel soon some paid ones will be placed,I'm also sending you my Tabs-Tutorial for your info, greetings Vic.
When the music is this good how can anyone not like it. There is nothing wrong with this arrangement. Excellent job Vic. Thanks for sharing. Keep them coming.
@jimi01us Thanks my friend, there are no boundaries to improvisation, only the own limitation of ones imagination, something good to be aware off, greetings Vic.
Your comping is quite impressive, you tore those changes apart even though it is a standard. If you put up another bossa video you should put up corcovado by Jobim.
I also like your fondness for ending with a Dim 7th chord
ok'' you got me all wound up with this bossa nova stuff'', love that sound'' I'm dusting off my classical and starting to work, need to get some of your music, think its the best'' thanks Jim
Thank you Vic for your answer, but excuse me I n' how to get these bands sounds without the melody, must I included/understood buy them, or download them on a site, sorry T to thank you annoy vic and with the fact or screw you in the United States
@berot131 Band in a box has a Site,I think you can order the software there or in a local Music store you have the CD to install on your PC.It's worth while investing some time in that,Vic.
hi for me you are the best from you tube, where you live usa ? SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH I AM FRANCH can you say where you found the band son accompagnement without the mélodie ty "roberto26@free.fr" bravo
@musicalbeard, thanks, well the emotion thing is very personal and depends how a person feels and interprets the Music, for me "feel" plays an important part,Vic.
Vic what can I say after this genial performance, beautiful,I dont have all the words I whish to express,U just hit those notes in a perfect tempo so sweet.I will keep checking in urs work
i need to learn something for an audition in music production and recording technology, so i chose this and satin doll. unfortunately, the only actual sheet music i can find is ridiculously short. did you improvise this/write the lead yourself? if you didnt, might you be able to hook me up with a link or a way to get the full song? thanks man. by the way, excellent playing :)
Hi speeddemon... I'm sorry I don't have any written parts of these tunes, most of what I play is what I learned along the way from Cd's, records and sitting in and playing with others, but I'm sure there must be some Site where you can find some info, greets Vic.
Hello Vic! Beautiful one again! I like the way you go out of key for a little moment and then lead the listener back to key with two or three notes. Wonderful melodic ideas (and that begins in the intro), great swing, breathtaking sound. One more that I've played a hundred times but never managed to play as relaxed as you do. 5*, what else? Greetz, Jogi
Thanks Amigo Jogi, you're real Jazz man in your Heart and in your playing of course, your Flagstaff CD is top notch man, such a great atmosphere, good how captured that ambience live with the humor and all, that 3 piece group is worth gold man. thanks for your heartfelt comment, love hearing from you, cheers Vic.
hi Victor, excellent - as ever! did my ears deceive me or did you indeed use quite many little chromatic runs in this piece? as it is a (kind of) bossa I was as wondering as well, if you could possibly do a tutorial on Bossa Nova rhythm playing some time. or have you done so already? would be of some help for me, I guess and I'd appreciate it very much - it's sort or harder than playing a solo... (for me at least). best - gromek
Hi gromek, well I've been experimenting here with different concepts that applicable, an interesting thing to do what you mentioned explaining the Bossa rhythm although there are many explanations here on the tube, I'll give it some thought, thanks for fine comment, greets Vic.
Ain't music a wonderful thing ... it succeeds all barriers ... man this is a nice tune "V" ... of course, I'm a slam dunk fan ... you sharing is always appreciated here ... keep them coming ... and yes, I am coming soon ... : )
Mike, great words my friend, before I play I know,I can't let these guys (listeners) down, they're all visiting my channel and I'm obliged to give the best I have, else I would be cheating on the Music, that's the way I am,greets Vic.
Naudo Amigo, you're the guitarist for me who has lived through thick and thin, when you play I feel just that, that's our bondage man,we have total respect for the Music and the Art we're obliged to fulfill ,it's an honor to have you here, let the Music always touch your Soul my friend,Victor.
Thanks Tony, you are most welcome here, I always love your work and creativity, for you no slackness exists, just great to have met "creme de la creme" of YT, having contact with you guys,top-talents of the Tube, Greets Vic.
Dear Vic: Priceless, your expression says it all. The full feelings you portray on this is just beautiful. Now that's letting your hair down. Peace be with you. Love the sound.
Thanks for your priceless words Hen, and always great having you here, listening, enjoying and sipping food for the soul, greets Amigo (hope your health is going OK) Vic.
Thanks Freddie, when I read your words I know I don't only have your musical ears but also your soulful expression, always so glad to have you here, may we enjoy each others music and friendship for the longest of time. Vic.
Hi Vic, This is one of those jazzy tunes you can express yourself freely and so you did, AWESOME! Great improvising the more you swing, the more you enjoy the better it sounds. Keep those fingers moving man and bring us more of your beautiful music playing to swing and enjoy along. Greets, John (Willemstad)
Right on brother, let's live life to the fullest and that means, love with all our Hearts what we do best, all other hearts will start resonating to that great pulse we call, "Universal rhythm" that flows on and on in an endless stream, now how did I put that in words? love you brother for continuous support, know that I don't take it for granted, I owe you, greets Vic.
Hi VengefulTikiGod, good you mention this very Important aspect, I learned most listening to Miles Davis and especially his spacing(space between the notes), I got the strong feeling what he expressed was: Don't play when you have nothing to say, same applies to Jim Hall, have a listen to those guys.Greets Vic.
Well put. I know a lot of guitarists who will play a whole heck of a lot, regardless of whether they have anything to say :) In the pop music world, a great example of a guy who never played more than was needed was George Harrison. Every fill, hook, or solo he put in on a Beatles tune always moved the song forward, and each note was there (or absent) for a reason. Compare that to the shred-happy hair metal guitarists of the 80's, and it becomes obvious why his music lasted longer than theirs...
Yes VengefulTikiGod, George is a very good example of a major musician playing in service of the Music, his hooks and relatively short solo's where always very Musical and to the point, and come to think of it,this is much more difficult than overplaying and at the end destroying the music just to satisfy of a blown-up Ego. Greetings Victor.
Hey seems as you left me 2 comments i will 2 ,lol,i always enjoy ur videos ,maybe one day i can play like u too ,but for now i live in a hospital bed and i broke a couple of fingers a few days ago so i,m left with one good arm ,and a pretty nurse,my site is named after my girls n they are gorgeous in every way .
Hi Dana, really sorry to hear this,I was just kidding, good thing you have access to Internet and still can use one arm, and spend your time listening to good Music.I wish you a good recovery and a very pleasant time while recovering(a Zen thought)greetings Vic.
Yeah Pascal, thanks man,it's an old Jazz standard but the oldies are the best, those guys sat down to compose great chord progressions and melodies, there was no slackness involved in there in those days, greets to our Cuban friend and tell him to watch my Chan-chan on YT,LOL greets Vic.
Thanks Pablo, great hearing from a top player like yourself, love that altered Stuff man, I love that concept of playing minor pentatonic a minor third up the dominant,in this case Bmi penta over Ab7(four altered notes and the 7),maybe you knew that one already, greets Vic.
Thanks Artur,All I know that it's produced in the Eighties by the ibanez factory(taken out of production now for quite some years) and it's made as a george Benson concept model, of course now it's a collectors Item and I'm totally blown away by the prices they're asking for them nowadays, you'll have to rob a bank to buy one,LOL greets Vic.
Thanks MarkR1957, what a warm comment man, and you're right when it sounds good on those little speakers it sounds tremendous on bigger ones, I hope I can live up to your expectations placing me that high on your list, but I'll do my darn best, sure I'll keep you posted, greetings Vic.
Thanks Marques, very welcome my talented friend, a musician who digs many styles is a true musician and Artist, and that's what you are,all the best, regards Victor.
Thanks Terry, guess I'm the romantic type that shines through in my playing and I must say I loved the Rumba groove to,it gave me just that swing to place my riffs over, thanks for your ears and great comment,Vic.
good to see you my friend!! And as always with a great piece and cool playing...Like the warm and sweet sound from your guitar!! Hope you're fine!! Hug Sarah :-)
Thanks Sarah, mein liebling(am I saying this correct?) I'll visit you soon, trying to keep up with all the YT activities and doing some posting as well, thanks for your warm comment,Vic.
Yeah Bruce, especially when you take some time to explore the alternative sounds on the Latin side, and they sound real cool I think, even some "Tito Puente" up tempo Salsa in there,LOL greets Vic.
Thank you so much, remarkable how strong the power of music is, this may sound strange but i think you're feeling my Soul through the Music, yes I'm certain,Greets Vic.
Thanks woodytfc, it's great you're mentioning the warmth, now I believe the thick flatwound strings have a lot to do with that, but man I have to specially order them, they don't sell them in the Music stores here any more, probably too little people interested in Jazz playing, greets Vic.
Here is another musical gem that I will be studying with great interest. I love your take on all of these standards, unlike many who play so much into a song it is hardly recognizable. You play just the right amount of improvisation and the standard tune...perfecto! Could you please tell me what your guitar tabs are that were mentioned before, I would be very interested in them. Thanks again for a beautiful arrangement.
Thanks soo much Rich, always your warm words do me so good. Of course I'll send you a personal mail what Tunes I have available, there are mostly finger style tunes, not so much yet but more are soon to come, till very soon,Vic.
i play my bass with your guitar and my friend it's just too short, can't get enough , i want play more and more, without pause to press replay button.

Pascal.
Qpidon 3 years ago
Yeah Pascal, thanks man,it's an old Jazz standard but the oldies are the best, those guys sat down to compose great chord progressions and melodies, there was no slackness involved in there in those days, greets to our Cuban friend and tell him to watch my Chan-chan on YT,LOL greets Vic.

Really nice take. I especially like some phrases you did on them Ebm7 Ab7 measures.
pabzum 3 years ago
Thanks Pablo, great hearing from a top player like yourself, love that altered Stuff man, I love that concept of playing minor pentatonic a minor third up the dominant,in this case Bmi penta over Ab7(four altered notes and the 7),maybe you knew that one already, greets Vic.

Good Afternoon Victor. Beautiful sound and performance too. Who made this amazing guitar?

donPabloArturo 3 years ago
Thanks Artur,All I know that it's produced in the Eighties by the ibanez factory(taken out of production now for quite some years) and it's made as a george Benson concept model, of course now it's a collectors Item and I'm totally blown away by the prices they're asking for them nowadays, you'll have to rob a bank to buy one,LOL greets Vic.

Another stellar performance from the best guitarist on YouTube. That's right, I said the best guitarist on YouTube, and then some.
Hey Victor -- if you sound this good on my little computer speakers, I can imagine the tone in person.
Still looking for your solo guitar tunes with your G.B.
Keep me posted, my friend ~
MarkR1957 3 years ago
Thanks MarkR1957, what a warm comment man, and you're right when it sounds good on those little speakers it sounds tremendous on bigger ones, I hope I can live up to your expectations placing me that high on your list, but I'll do my darn best, sure I'll keep you posted, greetings Vic.

Beautiful, Vic. I've not heard this classic tune played in such a romantic way before. I
see how it makes for a lovely rumba, too! ~T

Thanks Terry, guess I'm the romantic type that shines through in my playing and I must say I loved the Rumba groove to,it gave me just that swing to place my riffs over, thanks for your ears and great comment,Vic.

As always outstanding Vic the warmth of that guitar sound truly adds to it 5*. Greetings from across the pond
woodytfc 3 years ago
Thanks woodytfc, it's great you're mentioning the warmth, now I believe the thick flatwound strings have a lot to do with that, but man I have to specially order them, they don't sell them in the Music stores here any more, probably too little people interested in Jazz playing, greets Vic.

Victor,
Here is another musical gem that I will be studying with great interest.
