hey everyone.. i have ONE video uploaded to YouTube .. I am trying to actively become a regular contributor to the youtube community. My first video is an acoustic cover of Identity Crisis by thrice. If you like Thrice please take the time to check it out and leave feedback. Thumbs up to give me a hand.. and if you guys like what you see.. I am going to be posting more vidoes starting in january.. thanks for your time and support guys.
I wish I could get all my music like this, not processed, not tampered with to try and make sound better, but raw, real, and filled with this much emotion.
Stop arguing about whether or not they are a christian band, (when they have gone on record saying they are not) and realize that this is a song about 9/11 being an inside job.
@BlackBalverin I can't post the link for some reason but search "Dustin Kensrue- This Is War (Dustin Intro Version)"...again, I ask that you keep your mind open to the message behind it. Thanks.
@derekmyers7 it's a good song too laden with christian messaging but the message of war and peace and to respect new life and enjoy life while it lasts is beautiful music is about your own interpretation of the meaning of a song you could twist it to which ever way you want to look at it with any song
@BlackBalverin I won't start arguing with you because I'm very hard nosed and tend to win an argument when debating. However, I will leave you with a link to a video. If you can HONESTLY tell me that Thrice isn't a Christian based secular band, then a) you're delirious or b) you will see that Dustin Kensrue has a true heart for God. "Grow up and start to look behind the image, thrice is much more than a dump 'christian-band"-- that's quite nonsensical; Christian bands can easily be MORE amazing!
You can quote and incorporate Scripture into your music without being a Christian band. It all has to do with the meaning that they're trying to convey. Thrice isn't a christian band. They probably know more about the bible than most Christians though.
@derekmyers7 nope^^ Thrice allways negate to be a christian band! Sure they've got many lyrics dealing with the bible or even quote it. But the point is, that it dosen't even matter, because to seperate bands into "chirstian" and "non-Christian" is hogwash! It's all about the music and what message they whant to convey^^ grow up and start to look behind the image, thrice is much more than a dump "christan-band". Have a nice day^^
@derekmyers7 You can be a Christian, and incorporate the feelings and inspiration you get from your beliefs, and not be a Christian band. A Christian band intends to show listeners the glory and grace of God. Their primary message is to spread their faith. Thrice does not intend to convert people, nor do they intend to spread Christian beliefs. They are artists. They use everything around them to create great music. It's the life lesson, not the belief behind it, that they preach.
@DavidAMIs I can see that. I hadn't heard major/minor until just recently. It's great freaking music, and a great record. It does seem more preachy, and less subliminal about the quotes and verses, but i still can't just see them as a Christian band. I dislike Christian bands too much to ever admit that Thrice could be one, haha.
The god that does exist most likely does not care about this kind of thing. So it's pointless to say that god plays a part in thrice. And the wack job christians who force their beliefs on everyone are responsible for religion becoming such a corrupt and looked down upon thing. I mean honestly, why does everyone need to force their beliefs on each other? If someone doesn't believe something, then go your separate ways. And stop calling Thrice a christian band.
It shows true musicianship to be able to strip down a song like this and still have it resonate so strongly with the audience. These guys are by far my favourite band - thrice <3
i need an acoustic album from thrice. imagine? dustin kensrue's stuff is nice, but the stuff he plays with thrice is IMO a lot better. dustin, we want an acoustic album!!!
Lyrically, I think they're one of the best bands of all time. Their songs often have far more than two meanings, and you can tell they intended it that way. When I listen to their music it reminds me of reading ancient poetry like Dante or the writings of other old scholars. They're truly amazing.
For sure...And when they're not quoting scripture, their songs are usually referring to Christ or an attribute of God metaphorically.
Like Silver Wings. Sure, it talks specifically about air, but if you think as if He's talking about Christ, it takes on a whole new life and makes just as much sense.
I agree with you 100%. Dustin Kensrue is a genius! Have you ever heard to the band Brand New? Brand New is easily my favorite band. Lyrically they are amazing also. Check them out, Jesse Lacey is the shit
I've seen Brand New play live...Mewithoutyou and Thrice opened for them in my home city. Thrice blew the audience out of the water but Brand New delivered just as hard.
i believe it is because they are humbled by the acceptance. and most artists with any kind of talent lack some kind of social skills. its a typical trait.
@IcarianxComplex7 i know this comment is froma while ago , but its them who brought themselves to the music career ... why thank god ... he neither exist or did anything ......
@DanteValentine16 he thanks god, Thrice thank to whatever they want. I'm pretty sure Dustin thanks god, because he's all religious and devoted. Not that I believe in God, though. Human's religion should be humanity. Humans should be taught humanity instead of christianity or muslimities.
@ricardocoreftw christians would say that serving humanity, serving oursleves is the very root of sinning. if we do that we strive for pleasure and we think we are great. but we are a creation. we are not the creators..
I had to start watching these videos because they took all of ThriceX3's Videos down :-( I hope they don't take these too. I watch them a few times everyday!
i have to admit that it's one of the only songs from the index with lyrics that don't really move me. love the song, but dustin wrote some soooooo stronger lyrics

For your information my friend, about 75 to 80 percent of Thrice lyrics are quoting Scriptures. Specifially Messiah (Jesus a.k.a Yahshua).
