  • My old command in 1979-82 I enjoyed very much to in the squadron and I wanted to stay there. Going to miss it and always remember it as well.

  • Sad day indeed, I was on duty and got to watch them go.

  • eight of the best years of my life living and flying out of Broomstick. VP-26 and as an Old Buzzard. Yes, Mandi it is damned sad

  • It was a sad day to see them leave. I lived in Brunswick for 5 years. My Dad was stationed there (VP-8) and then I met my fiancee there (VP-26). I will miss driving alongside the base and seeing the Mighty Papa Chuck fly over my car for a landing or take off. There is truly nothing greater. <3

  • I miss flying as an FE in VP-26 almost 10 years ago now. Didn't know how good I had it at the time....Wes M.

  • Yeah this is sad, i lived in Maine for 9 years of my life, was born in 1994 and have been to a few airshows. My dad was in VP-26 as a Parachute rigger

  • This is almost too painful to watch...NAS Brunswick, thanks for the memories, you will be missed! Signed, "carbone7841"

  • this breaks my heart....

  • my dad was stationed at brunswick many times during his navy career. I grew around P-3s. his last squadron in bruswick was VP-26 he was an FE

  • @TheSarahpeyton Rly my dad was in VP-26 :D

  • I worked at Bangor Tower and Approach, years ago, and I can tell you, these were some of the best pilots I ever worked in the pattern. Sad to see them go.

  • My Dad last duty station was at Brunswick. My mom and him stayed in Durham the next town over. I grew up here in Brunswick, I just got out of high school here too. they US Navy has played such a roll in my life. that's why I'm joining at somepoint myself. Those P-3C's meant the world to me. now the skies are silent.

  • Where R they going? I love the P3 , makes me sad to watch those cute birds flying away..... buhhuhuhuh

  • probably down to Jax

  • The last two P-3's are on deployment right now. One of them went to South America to help out with the drug running or something like that. The other one is on deploeyment too but im not sure where. They both will station in jacksonville after deployment

  • BNAS! VP-26! Hooyah Navy!

  • My dad is the flight engineer of that last P-3 to leave.

  • Thanks for sharing. I can't believe they closed BNAS. Seems like they are leaving an entire region unprotected.

  • I was born in Brunswick and my dad did two tours at this base. Back in the days when lobsters were $1.50/pound and Star Wars was the movie of choice. Rick Hudner, Ralph Stowel, VP26 was the best squad. in the West Pac. I miss Monhegan, Thompson Beach, and Boothbay Harbor. LL Bean was a small store and replaced boots for free. P3 orion brat I was and always will be! long live the P3! and God Bless Brunswick !

  • i spent a better part of my childhood in Lisbon, my father flew on p3s for many years. BNAS will always be remembered. VP-8

  • I called NASB my home from 2001- 2005. I've met friends I'm still in contact with to this day. Great people and good times. Fair winds and following seas VP-26.

  • Yup, had tears in my eyes after watching this... Sad day. Great video!!!

  • A lot of maritime patrol warriors passed through this base during their careers. It was one of the best bases to be stationed at in a lot of our minds. The winters were cold but the summer's pleasant and the seafood and scenery great. The locals weren't bad either. In fact my son in a Mainiac born in the Brunswick hospital. Blue skies and tail winds home to all VP and the base support staff. Congrats on a job well done!

  • i was born in '93 and have been in the area since, being a pilot is one of my biggest dreams and watching this made me realize 16 years of my life just flew away

  • We just left BNAS in the Spring after my husband being stationed to Aviation Support Detachment there for the last 2 1/2 years. I'll bet the locals are having trouble sleeping without the hum of the P3s engines turning at night on the tarmac. I miss that sound myself :'( Thanks for this video.

  • I'm sad to hear this. I served at the ASWOC as my first duty station in 1989.

I have many fond memories of NAS Brunswick.

  • I called that place home and spent some of my best and most challenging and interesting times there. I left my youth there too, if anyone sees it hanging around - let me know, I could use it back.

  • one only wonders. what will become of brunswick now without its base?

  • I'm gonna miss flying up here! Thanks for sharing this.

  • well done tim! and great music choice haha.

  • man i wish i coulda been there to see that.. i miss that place and p-3's already. god speed to all vp-26 who is on deployment. get home safe
