I live in Cartalonia,Spain and this year they have started selling Catalan government bonds. They promise a return of 4.75% after a year and a day (when the bond matures)

I have told everyone i know to avoid these bonds like the plaque and to invest in Gold and Silver because i believe that these bonds will never reach maturity.

There isn't any money in their coffers to honour these bonds,why sell them now of all times? Because they are broke and need the last euro cent that we have.

The bond market is easily 10 times bigger than the stock market. Like the man said, EVERY corporate pension plan and insurance company is loaded to the gills with various bonds.

The Chinese government does not have to worry about being re-elected. They can do things the US won't. I am not saying that I would want that because I would not. The people in the US vote up the size of government to get more entitlements until the government is so large that it turns on them during collapse. The key is balance the needs of the citizens and a smaller efficient government. If the people want more from government, government will need and demand more from the people.

I am glad but not surprised at the Texas Teacher's. I really don't know about the rest of America that well. Here, I am seeing the US Flag in front of more houses on a regular basis and it ain't just the white folks. At church some people are doing part of the tithe in silver. China population 1.331 billion people. Unlike USA where two extremes are NOT far apart in China top and bottom 10% are world's apart. China has 700 mil+ rural mouths to feed. Mostly illiterate, often starving and beginning to show extreme unrest. Riots beginning. China= potential "Black Swan Event" we are missing. @royalmetalsgroup Communist centrally planned government and society is their Achilles Heel. They CLAIM to be growing at an 8% rate. Remove the 60% of their GNP that goes into corrupt construction (most of it construction not needed and now entire new cities sit empty - the next closest country to 60% is 30% of GNP going into construction) and the HUGE amount of Military spending (5x what they state) what's left is 90% poverty plus small pockets of wealth the world is allowed to see.

@operator223 I'm guessing you didn't reach the 95% interior of China as travel there by foreigners is almost never allowed.I've never been in those areas but have friends who have.They "just went" not asking permission.Whew!They could have been imprisoned for life! Others have been! I got on a train between Beijing and Baoding and once the train leaves the city, there is an endless ocean of tin and plywood shacks, open sewer ditches, rough campfires, and poverty poverty poverty everywhere. That's all I needed to see.

@operator223 I'm sure what you saw was shocking but from what my friends tell me the poverty further inland (particularly in the west where other ethnic groups live the "native Chinese" would prefer dead), poverty there is starvation on a staggering scale. I hope the many comments by those who wrote knee jerk "the working rich are evil -- the working rich pay no taxes" (in the USA) read your post. Our poor have a higher standard of living than the middle class of France. Statistics prove it.
