  • Nice !!

  • I still have trouble with putting the folder directory.

Its original directory is "G:¥Videos" but on the sharing tab, it says "¥¥Myname-PC¥Videos".

Someone tell me which one would work please.

  • Hell yea finally added my collection!!! Thanks man!!!

  • thank you, i love u

  • I LOVE YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOO FUCKIG MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE MY HERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive been trying to get my file share over the network to my XBMC for the last month! and almost gave up till i saw your video!! YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!

  • Your videos are a great help to a newcomer I'm grateful you've taken the time to make them

  • Thank you so much for your help you are the best!!

  • You showed how to add sources but how do you delete unwanted sources from the list?

  • @MrBfg586 The easiest and fool proof way that I know of is to use a program like Filezilla to sFTP into your ATV2. Use the username: mobile and password: alpine. Then go to this directory: /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC/userdata. There is a file call mediasources.xml. Edit that list to add, or remove the unwanted sources.

  • Very nice guide. But one question. How do I learn the following: my username

    my password

    the server ip

    the folder name?

  • @mikalosii

If you are using windows. Simply open up a command prompt and type the command:

    ipconfig

That will give you your IP address.

The folder name would be the name you gave the network share you created. Probably good to google on how to share a windows folder.

You can use the same username and password you use to log into your windows computer. If you don't have one, it's best to create one. Please google for instructions on that as well. There are so many good tutorials available.

  • Thanx man for the help!

I still don't get it to work as my AppleTV does not find anything in the path I define. I'ts a bitch that you can't browse your folders like on, say PS3 Media Server. It would make it a hell of a lot easier than to guess directory paths until you go insane... :-(

Well, none of that is your fault Dazexone, just needed to let off some steem. ;-)

  • @mikalosii You can browse as well. But the method I demonstrated in the video is the most direct way. However, it would mean you need to know what folders you have shared on your computer. If you are using windows, you can easily find that out by pressing the windows key+r. From the "run" prompt, just type in two back slash, follow by your computer's ip address. i.e. \\10.10.10.4

This will open up a window with all the folders you are currently sharing from your windows computer.

  • I.FUCKING.LOVE.YOU!!!!!! I put my mac to share a folder but for some reason it was not showing in xbmc and when i was about to give up after searching for a solution for hours i found your video and it worked!!! Thanks a lot! Your a life savior =D

  • thanks...

    Video very helpful =]

    xoxo

  • where do you find username and password for windows 7... I havent set one but it still asks

  • @ememery I believe Windows 7 is set to automatically prevent connection to it's share if you do not use a password. It's Microsoft's way of protecting it's users. You may want to Google for the definitive answer though.

  • @dazexone the problem was fixed with some regedit and re installation of xbmc.

  • @ememery

Hi, how did you manage to access the shared folders in windows 7, I'm still getting the lock screen asking for username and password even though the sahres are setup without password protection? Really frustrating!!

  • very helpful thx!

  • Works, connected the dots for me. Much appreciated.. Streaming divx to my AppleTV2 right now..
