  • wouldn't the igloo collapse when cutting the entrance? Sorry if the question sounds stupid but I've lived in Florida basically all my life and never got to build any igloos or snow forts on winter vacation. I'm moving to Alaska and building an igloo is my goal. So just wanted to know how to cut and entrance open without collapsing the igloo.

  • No the igloo won't collapse because the snow refreezes soon after the blocks are set, that is what makes the structure so strong! Check out the last frame where I am sitting on it.

  • thanks, helped us build ours in the garden, dig that happy snow !

  • great!

  • jw but if it was packed that tight y dident u just make a GAINT igloo out of all of that and goten help from thos other people

  • cause then it's called a snow fort not an igloo. that is the ccorrect way to make an igloo. all the other ways where u have a pile of snow and u just tunnel through it then it's a snow fort. but theese guys made an igloo. :-)

  • great video.

  • very nice job! 5/5

  • cool:P they didnt care that u used their parkinglot?

  • 8==================D

  • Very difficult to see the white igloo when the back round is the same color. Should've tried a different camera angle.

  • OMG where do u live that snow wall is bigger than the great wall of china man i wish i could biuld a igloo we dont have enough snow for that

  • Portland Oregon, snow is great this year in the mountains. Come get some!

  • I think this is just amazing. Great Job!

  • We make a snow shelter called a quincy when we go ice fishing. It's made by shoveling the powdery snow we get into a large pile, letting it set, and then digging out a cave in the snow. We've slept 4 people in minus 40 degrees quite comfortably. The only time we had any trouble was when a chinook blew in and the temperature went to 10 degrees celcius and the snow started to melt. I'm hoping to post a video of our quincy building this winter sometime.

  • Great, I would love to see your quincy. Our igloos keep us very warm and sheltered from even the strongest winds.

  • I build quincies in my backyard every year. I was going to try and get out and build a new one today. It just snowed 8 inches, and its about 15 degrees out, should be good. Ill try and make a video too. peace...

  • Never did get a video made last winter. Maybe we'll get a good storm soon and I can make another one this year.

  • i also make a quincie every time i go ice fishing, i start by drilling 2 holes in the ice then piling up snow on top then i let it sit for a couple hours then i dig it out, then i punch the holes through and sit in a nice cozy warm place and fish even after dark nice vid

  • That was cool! I've wondered how to build an igloo for ages! The snow here is really powdery, does that matter?

  • You can't build an igloo with powdery snow. It has to be packed by the wind, or as looks to be the case of this video, by a snowblower or something.

  • cool igloo, i didnt know america had this much snow.

  • That is the parking attendant dude with the clipboard who came over to chat. No, they did not seem to mind.

  • is it warm inside

  • so how long did it last before the snow plow came around? lol
