Bottomline? Chris Perkins can DM his ass off. The adventure is paced unbelievably well. It helps that his players actually CARE, but man, the way he brought the other players into the game was kinda genius. Just saying. Nuff props to a good DM. So far there are...
i thinnk it's fighter with other rofesion beyond 11 lvl but i may be wrong, but i'm sure he is Eladrin race and Will plays it cool :P and funny as hell :D
@WhyMeMoFo Haven't played that, no, but my group isn't very rules heavy when we play. We all have a lot of fun, in-character and out, and only go by the rules if they make sense at the time. Anything that takes too long or just plain get in the way of fun, we usually roleplay out of. So yeah, it would depend on who you play with, honestly. Of course you're not going to have as much fun with a rules lawyer, but I'm sure you can find a balance between gaming and roleplaying that will appease you.
@WhyMeMoFo No, roleplaying is still here, as you said with your 'AD&D' and whatnot. I do like to actually play an actual game every once in a while, though, so don't think everyone want to roleplay all the time.
Watching this and the 2011 session, if someone based an animated series off these adventures I can't imagine it would be anything less than hilarious.
I LOVE the moment Chris creates between Aeofel and Citrine, she's in complete control, Aeofel's staying strong and answering back but it's looking pretty bleak for him. I mean, as viewers we know that things are gonna go bad for Citrine in the near future, but that line 'they're at home, wallowing in their ale' is so perfectly taunting, she really seems intimidating.
@glrebirth9 For tabeltop gaming its all about the fun of teh party, rules lawyering is stupid. Thats why when I DM I roll everything behind a screen so I can make the NPCs hit or miss if need be.
@cramerrho I was at this live, and all the screen was was the exact question that the DM is asking, with the exact options for answers that he's giving. The only thing special about it was Mike K's drawing of the group in the hellscape--which, granted, was pretty cool. Oh, and also the number of text votes climbing as they came in (usually around 200)... You know what? I take it back. You're right, they should have shown the screen.
@bipolypesca Alot of the images (as far as I can gather from seeing pics of the event, I wasn't there) were done by Jerry for the previous Acquisitions Inc. Podcasts and can be found on the D&D site if you search for them.
@Kitamora Eh? Jerry Holkins? He's a writer, not an artist. I think you might mean the pictures done by Mike Krahulik. They can be found at wizards.com along with the other Acquisitions Inc. podcasts. And they are awesome! :) He also did a new image on the hellscape for this D&D game at PAX Prime 2010, and that's what I was referring to in my previous comment.
@bipolypesca Yeah, I meant Mike. Sorry, I made an effort to try not to mix them up but I did it anyway! Should have just put "Gabe" like I was going to originally, hehe. That's cool that he did a new drawing especially for the event, wish he would post it online or something... I've just started listening through the Acquisitions Inc. podcasts and I'm really enjoying them, even as someone who's never played D&D, so it's piqued my interest in the game!
@Kitamora On a video at PATV, some guy in line screams out Mike's name and applauds--right at Jerry as he was signing something for another fan. He just laughed and went, "Yeah, or Jerry!" So, you know... worse mistakes have been made. ;) If you go to the wizards.com page that lists these videos (I'd give you the link, but you know YT!), the picture I'm referring to is there, but it's small and tilted and there doesn't seem to be a large version. Maybe later! :)
am i the only one who noticed that the mini scott was using was "fulumbar ironhammer", a dwarf mini from Reaper miniatures.

The best games are the flexible ones where rules take a back seat to fun.
