I disagree with jimjim and kevin. I think this is a wonderful and positive promotion by Google. I love to see businesses and celebrities help folks, whether it is Oprah or Ellen or Google... I have friends who appreciate this kind of uplifting business boost...heck...I would appreciate and love to receive such a helping hand. Go Google! American small businesses need a booster shot in the arm like this.

Well, me and a colleague tried to advertise for our startup on Adwords too. We wrote the ad text, created the image banners, planned the budgets and bids, and made payments to Google.

What happened next? We got "permanently suspended" without any prior warning email! The account's (permanently) frozen and we don't know what to do! We've emailed them and there's no reply.

Maybe because we're based in China..

Dislike: Happy for those companies,but wish Google would provide more support for everyone. I needed help with a duplicate map listing issue for my company and can't even get them to give me more than a template email.

They certainly could have used that money to support the hordes of small businesses trying to use AdWords and Places. This is just a publicity stunt and points to an all too common theme of large corporations spending millions on propping up an image instead of actually working on core values.

Google is still a good company. I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

@jimjim That's a negative attitude. Your attitude is don't help anybody unless you help out every single person. Have you ever done a favor for anybody? You SHOULDN'T because the other 7 billion people on this planet will get jealous. That's your attitude. What's that you say? Everybody should be helping others out so there is no jealousy. I'm all for Altruism and that's what needs to be done. Google can't just give away something for everybody so other companies need to help out.

Do you ever visit the "help" forums for the various small business products Google offers? Go read their complaints and problems.

@jimjim I'm sure your right but that is irrelevant to Google helping out a few people in this video. I'll agree that there are some problems to be sorted out though. That's what the forum is for and hopefully they work out those kinks. That is the whole idea of the forum, so that they can sort those problems out.
