  • cool find

  • @trainkids if you want people to take you seriously, the last thing you want to do is misspell right at the beginning of your video. "deleated" is not even a word. Its spelled "deleted". Congrats. you learned something new.

  • @sfloresv87 Yeah. Thanks.

  • One more thing those euro idiots that think their crappy eclectric trains are the best...they don't even know anything about trains, given the fact that most european freight trains still use chains and pins to hold together their short and slow"wagons",and the fact that their passenger routes are mostly flat and straight and don't carry any freight over them..i'd rather watch over a mile long trains in the mountains than seeing nothing but a blurry landscape out my window

  • that surfliner sure was haulin'ass, how fast the bnsf special pass that crossover I'm sure it wasn't going megaslow like metra here in chicago, cool video,

  • @fnm9908 It was probably doing around 30 mph.

  • colorado is b etter than tex-ass

  • @upheritage6 What the heck are you talking about? Who the hell said anything about one state being better than another?

  • @trainkids true don't be mad dude.

  • @upheritage6 I'm not. I'm just annoyed that people would start a topic that makes no sense or has no relevance to the video.

  • @trainkids sorry btw i subscribed

  • What kind of cars are those on the executive train? I thought it was like a movie screen or somethin' on the back.

  • @TraindudeMcGee They're ex-Santa Fe cars that are now owned by BNSF. They only use them for special runs such as this. And no, that's not a movie screen. lol! It's basically a big viewing window!

  • @trainkids that would be cool to have a movie screen on the back though

  • @MrZkr123 Sure would be!

  • lol i thought at first that was a plasma tv on the last car of the last train

  • cool

  • I love these videos, I lived in the States for 31 years, and am now back in the UK. Comparing European HS trains to American is like comparing apples to oranges. Yes, European trains are fast, but they look like toys compared to American ones. American trains are HUGE, they move massive loads over massive distances, and when you have a freight train with four engines pulling around a hundred massive wagons, you've got some serious rush when they go by with their air horns blaring. I miss them.

  • I love the Opening. A guy just stuck in Texas. LOL

  • @danielday36 Uh, what? Who said anything about Texas? I live in California.

  • Actually, the railroads in the U.S. are upgrading the track, re-aligning and putting in concrete ties. There is just so much expanse and distance and it is costly. Much of the track is good for 79mph to 90mph and is shared with freight. The only dedicated high speed is on the NEC for now rated at 125mph to 150mph. We are working on it. Nice vid BTW.

  • Thank you for giving us RAILFANS in other parts of the World the opportunity to see fast trains its great and anybody who says that they are better is in need of new medication changed to a stronger dose .I for one enjoy your trains in Australia and don't mess with Aussies....

  • Search for ICE 3 300km/h. Serious ass my ass.

  • @sunstarfire how do u do that dip your ass in acid :)

  • You need to sit back to enjoy and read that. Hauling. Some. Serious. Ass. That's bloddy ridiculous. Come to germany, or, much easier, look at one of the ICE-videos here on youtube. That may be hauling some serious ass. I have never seen a train in the US going faster than our local public transportation system trains here in Munich. Sheesh.... Go catch up on the development of the last 50 years. Start with washing machines. And don't forget trains.

  • @sunstarfire You know what? I didn't post this video so people could start arguing about which countries trains are faster and better, I posted this video to share it with other railfanners that want to see it! That's the whole point of this site! Why don't you take a fucking chill pill and just watch the damn video and decide whether you like it or not?

  • @sunstarfire ........well there in lies the problem, life goes by fast enough as it is....why not slow down just a bit and smell the flowers? i mean seriously....do you really need to go 300 mph in a train? relax dude, chill out, life is way to short to be as uptight as you.

  • Excellent vid

  • BNSF Always have dos dash 9 s

  • @TheAmtrakboy The engine in this video is not a Dash-9, it's an ES44DC. And the Superliner is regular coach car. I'm not sure why they have them on the Surfliners, but almost every Surfliner has a Superliner on it.

  • are those superliners sleeping cars or coaches and if so why do they have them on the surfliner

  • BNSF needs to get with the program and put some F-units on point like UP,NS, & Pan Am have.

  • thats slow were im from they do any were from 80 to 100mph! not even kiddin and it is amtrak

  • How fast was the train going when it switched over?

  • @adelgado75 Probably around 30 mph.

  • Very nice video!

  • Hi enjoyed watching can you tell me, do you have many single track lines, this is very rare in England and the train using the single track can ONLY do so if the driver (engineer) holds a BATTON , this batton is only for that stretch of track, I know there is lots of differences between here , and across the pond. Had an uncle who worked on the Canadian National many years ago who told me the drivers were given written instructions about where they would stop in one of these loops

  • @migette1 Thank you! This particular line is roughly 70% single track with double track. On primarily passenger lines such as this, double track is mainly used at stations and areas where meets are common. Such as the case at this location. The freight lines are the lines that mainly use double track because there's way more traffic.

  • @trainkids Hi thanks wish we in UK used our rail systems to carry more freight, this would reduce traffic on our crowded roads, Germany seems to use more freight by train, but we did in the past. Thanks again for reply and interesting vids

  • @migette1 - Agree with you 100 pc re freight on Britain's railways. Where I am the only freight is that of about 6 oil containers for the MPD in Penzance. No agricultural or fish freight whatsoever.

  • man that bnsf gained some speed

  • me nd my friend Dijonvenableiscool caught an Amtrak just like that but #458 XD

  • The Americans think this is fast...

  • @CaptainAndreas45 Yes, we know Europe has way faster trains! Stop rubbing it in! LOL! xD

  • @trainkids - Some European countries are far more advanced than others, take the nationalised SNCF in France, outstanding !!

  • @CaptainAndreas45 Sort of like the Europeans think they move tonnage.

  • @CaptainAndreas45 This is a diesel train that travels in the mountainous valley's of California. I would love to see a TGV or ICE doing this. The Surfliner is way slower by comparison, but considering the circumstances, it isn't bad at all.

  • @Neno8403

    Uhm... the Alps?

  • I would.....DIE to ride the Exec. train.......

  • Must be a definition of "hauling ass" that I'm not familiar with...looked like 40-50mph.

  • @BGleaves123 Surfliners do like 70 - 90 mph in this area.

  • @trainkids WoW !!!!! This is nearly as fast as the subway here in Germany....:-) In this big country you should have trains going 250 mph and faster. What is the maximum speed trains are going in your country ? I Can't find really fast US-trains on youtube....

  • @MichaelClock The size or our country is one reason why we don't have many high speed trains. Since our country is so large there's more "major" cities/areas and larger distances between them, and the larger the distance, the more preferable planes become. Also, the fastest train here in the US is Amtrak's Acela, which travels at 150 mph.

  • @MichaelClock

as Trainkids was mentioning with the Acela going 150 mph, only on two sections of track can the top be reached (Mansfield/ Canton, Massachusetts, and Kingston, Rhode Island). The Northeast corridor is heavily shared among various train operators (MBTA, Providence and Worcester, etc) , in addition to having tight curvatures.

  • @MichaelClock I'm glad that the German subway moves so quickly nowadays. Especially considering how we bombed the fuck out of your shithole country in WWII.

  • @MichaelClock and a nother thing people in America dont rely on the train as much as in Europe still. its sad because a few more years and i dont know if passanger trains in america will still be around. and for me the subway doesnt cout as a train.

  • BEST PART 0:00 - 2:39 :)

  • Why was the BNSF hauling passenger cars? Thats rare isnt it?

  • @CanucksLegend It's an executive special. Only BNSF executives get to ride it and it only come down once a year.

  • @trainkids So like a Company Train? lol

  • @CanucksLegend Yes. lol!

  • He was hauling some ass for sho!

  • que padre encuentro bnsf palomita eta muy padre.

  • @ferrosurjunior no habla espanol

  • @ferrosurjunior hola. el pollo de bnsf loco loco...

  • Oh! I'd like to go somewhere in car like the last :)

  • Great opening shot!

  • What kind of car was the third to the engine

  • @sad1eluvsme A double decker car. But since there aren't any windows on the bottom, it's probably a dinging car

  • Yep! I rode a BNSF Special with twice as many cars! LOL El Paso, Texas is DEFINITELY the place to railfan, and even ride specials!

  • Nice. That is a good video. You shoud see caltrain rush hour. They get the names of the trains wrong. Have a nice day.

    11/6/2011

  • Good vid and great train, so TU. I've recently uploaded a vid Techno Music: Steam Trains At High Speed Amazingly enough they match, if not exceed, this speed!!!!

  • BNSF: We put EOTs on are passenger trains!

  • how do you tell the difference between an es44ac, dc, and c4?

  • @supersurfliner Its all in the numbering. C4's are in the 6600 and 6700 series, DC's are in the 7000 series, and AC's are in the 5000 and 6000 series.

  • @trainkids oh ok. thanks!

  • @trainkids ti's also on the side of the engine

  • @trainkids plus there is a mechanism on top of the middle axle; looks like some rods connected to a cylinder. Obviously knowing BNSF's numbering scheme is the easiest and fastest way to know for sure as trainkids explained.

  • @supersurfliner The AC and DC are the type of traction motors (DC has brushed) and the C4 is a 6 axle loco that only has 4 traction motors instead of 6. Not really sure which is the better setup.

  • The f59 horn is located right behind the exhaust stack (the hottest part of the engine). After years of ingesting hot gasses, and convection heating, the horn's internal parts get fouled and warped, thus producing the unique sound associated with these locomotives. But, they still work, so why worry about it.

They had similar issues with the f40's when the horn was relocated from the cab roof to behind the stack in order to reduce cab noise. They called them smoker's horns.

  • Nice catch there. :D

  • Nice catch on the special, I caught something similar to it down in Houston, TX.

  • I did not know BNSF ran a passenger line. Also, the last car on the BNSF train would be amazing to ride in.

  • @alexajo89 sure would be! Also this isn't a passenger train that's open to the public. Only BNSF executives can ride this and they only do this for inspections.

  • @trainkids Ah, well that would explain why I've never seen one, lol.

  • I'm sure it's been said already, but nice catch, good video!

  • Nice!

  • Since when did BNSF have passenger cars?

  • i caught that same amtrak

  • No there is only one type of K5LA horn. The F59PHI K5LA horns sound different because they are mounted behind the exhaust of the engine, whereas on the cabcar or a P42 are not mounted behind the exhaust.

  • nice horn on the bnsf train

  • has anyone noticed how similar the horns on the Acela and F59PHI's are?

  • @MrZkr123 well they both use K5LAs

  • @trainkids but they both seem to have the same kind of K5LA its more of a modern sound than on the P42's

  • @MrZkr123 but the amtrak F59PHI's horn sounds more like the hybrid then the one's used by P42's

  • @trainkids but so don't the Genisis'? and they sound far different than the acelas, they sound more like Cab Cars (sounder and surfliner)

  • @jfsa380 well maybe the genesis' use a different type of K5LA

  • @jfsa380 The horns can be tuned differently. Both Amtrak and Canadian National use K5L's, but CN tunes them differently. Same horn, different sound.

  • @jfsa380 I think the F59PHI has the K5LA in a wierd place, so the sound echoes off a buch of different things. Or maybe it is just a different tuned horn.

  • @MrZkr123 Acela trains use hybrid K5LAs they have a different pitch to one of the bells. All p42s and f59s on amtrak have regular K5LAs exept for a few.

  • @MrZkr123 yeah! ;)

  • looks like that bnsf train was going fast over the switch

  • Great Vid Patrick!!!!!!

  • @trainboy94 thanks hunter!

  • Nice K5HL

  • Stop with the multiple exclamation marks!

  • @NMrailrunner7 it's my video, I'll type as many as I want!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This video reminds me of trains.

  • I see why that BNSF waited.

  • ha! this what you western people call fast? come to the NEC sometime!

  • @milky27oreo Yes, that is what we call fast.... I've been to the NEC, and thats what we call rediculous speed :P.... Big difference

  • @NIARTcar LUDICROUS SPEED...GO!

  • @milky27oreo ha! that's what you American people call fast? Ride the French TGV sometime!

  • beautiful video. nicely done

  • That was a great video. Nice surprise behind that BNSF. Thanks for posting the vid.

  • Great video!

  • Nice little video! Thanks for sharing!

  • love the train horn really cool

  • It's either the engineer or conductor since they can step out of the train where a track goes from double to single. No need to wait inside the train if your train is idle for a bit.

  • If only Amtrak would make the effort to have passenger cars in that condition. Or for that matter design. How cool would it be to have a giant picture window to look out? The only thing better would be a porch area like the classic passenger cars.

  • wow this trains r fast!!!!

  • Nice! I unexpectedly saw the passenger special at San Clemente pier on that day. To bad i didn't have my camera... =(

  • Not a public passenger train. A buisness train

  • @NARSConductor My guess would be the conducter. And I don't think the CEO would be on this train because it only ran from San Diego to Long Beach and I would think the CEO would be on longer distance runs

  • Very interesting vid.

  • Holly crap! I didn't know BNSF ran passenger trains!

  • @nashgallo well it's not a pssenger train like the ones amtrak runs. It's one that's only for BNSF executives

  • @nashgallo and BNSF runs metra bud.

  • @nashgallo technically they do, the Sounder IS a BNSF operated train, on behalf of Sound Transit.

  • COOL! i want more of this VIDEOS ! and cool horn u catch!

  • Sweet!

  • bnsf got csx horn just that one

  • awesome vid/ catch, love both horns. Amtrak was moving!

  • That surfliner was HAULIN!!

  • Cool! nice catch of the bnsf special.

  • That was SuuuuuuuuhWEEEET! Great Catch!

  • wouldnt wanna stand in his way!

  • neither would I, he was probablly doing at least 90!!!!

  • damn! i run live steam pretty fast but what always scares me is going over switch points. sometimes they can be off set and taking a 600 ibs engine at 10 mph and derailing can be relly bad

  • Wow !!

  • GREAT CATCH!!

  • NICE

  • awesome video

  • Nice vid 5/5 and fav!

  • Thanks dude!!!!
