  • awesome! 2nd jason becker

  • @hafizmagician

    why second Jason Becker?

  • would u approve spasmodic arm vibration as speed increasing technique?

  • @rediliad

    personally no....

but you can do what makes you feel comfortable

  • @rediliad Not unless you want to look like this dude:

    /watch?v=ju1FiSt0TOY

  • i ve noticed that ur hand has a slight angle when playing.is it on purpose or its natural.also can u make a lesson on chromatics because the solos u plat seem very basica and rather dull.can u do some furhter anlysis on harmonic minor?

  • @rediliad

    i am doing it naturally

about chromatic-outside notes i already did few videos

  • O M G YOU LET A STRING SOUND GO OUT AT 57 YOU ARE NO MY HERO ANYMORE (joking :P)

  • your tone sounds a LOT like ygnwie malmsteen mixed with the guy from symphony x

  • Ziras're going to have a TV! I look forward to the sequel!

  • 43 people disliked this.. just saying

  • Does anyone know how long does it take to play this fast shredding ?? And also i need some tips and ideas because im having trouble developing my speed. I NEED HELP!!!!!

  • @erazohe

play as much as you can....

    speed will come naturally

  • @tziras Are you sure? No promises?

  • @erazohe

    practice x3

  • @tziras Ok thank You!! What can I start at first?

  • @erazohe

    alternate picking and improvisation

  • @erazohe its true that practice will improve your speed, just mess about, and if it sound crap try and make it sound better. Remember though fluid playing is better than speed.

  • @tziras absolutely true...

  • @erazohe Do as Mr. Ziras says.. Practice, practice and practice etc.. Buy a metronome, start slow and work your way up.. it's the only way to get good results

  • @erazohe play licks with slow tempo with metronome when you can play cleanly at some tempo raise it up a bit like 10bpm :)

  • @Guitar1sti Thanks! You know what kind of stuff I can start with?

  • @erazohe look around those cool solo licks on your favorite songs and learn them, i know it needs a lot of hard work but thats what i did and i can tell that it really helps :) and the whole solos maybe are too hard for you but thats the way to develope the speed and technique

  • @Guitar1sti Thanks alot !! ill give it a try. But thanks though.

  • @erazohe dude just keep jamming away it will come with inpiration and persistance

  • @erazohe practice with metrenomes, the most important thing i have to say.

  • @erazohe Yeah dude, just practice practice. But good improv is very important, if anything I say it's a lot more important than speed because speed will come eventually.

  • @erazohe You can't walk before you run

  • @erazohe spasmodic arm vibration is the key...

  • Ya know what I love about this guy besides his awesome playing? He actually takes the time to answer a lot of us. Which almost no one does anymore. You're awesome T!

  • People are stupid. "Shredding" is in the freakin title people. If you don't like it don't click on it. When I click on a "shredding' video I want to see how many notes someone can cram into a second. That's why I like Ziras. If you don't like it go watch a Claptan video or SR Vaughn for crying out sake. I will say this though, the camera guy needs to calm down a bit. Not so much switching.

  • awesome!!

  • you could play it for 5 seconds and it would save me 1 min of pointless time from my life.

  • @tziras Exactly my point. It's so incredibly boring that it feels like watching somebody wank off for 5 minutes, regardless of the actual video length. Playing guitar like this is a cover up for having no discernable musical talent.

  • @neveronyx

sorry...there is nothing i can do about that

if you don't like it.....you just don't like it....

  • @neveronyx You sound to be very jealous. The point here was here was to demonstrate shredding in an harmonic minor scale, that does not have to be interesting.

  • this is seriously terrible...

  • It sounds tedious when you end so many times on the 12 fret A...

I still love your shredding tho, superb :D

  • good lessons

  • i love your videos, helped me a lot so far. but just a little tip to make em a little bit better: your wide camera shot is very greenish (because of the background i think) and isn't feeling comfortable for my eyes :D maybe you should try to remove some of the greens in the color correction menu while your editing your videos.

but anyway, great vids, keep em coming!

  • @el3m3n7

there is nothing i can do with the wide camera....sorry

  • @tziras You can't spell "Greek" or "Green" without "Gree" in other words I think it goes great with you and your videos

  • @el3m3n7 Damn you for mentioning that! It didn't bother me before!

  • who the hell dislikes this really ? .. all i can come up with is that they wanted to see more and weren't happy that the video got cut off...

  • not bad for a beginner... Can you let me know which is your favorite axe that you use most? thanks

  • @keithsa41

    Line6 POD X3

  • @tziras Brother, I meant your guitar.. which one is your fav, because you have quite the collection and they all look killer...

  • @keithsa41

this one i play on this video (Verve)

  • @tziras thanks, you have amazing chops...

  • @keithsa41 lol not bad for a begginer?????

  • file skizeis!! bravo patriori!!!

  • omg dude thats was awesome, i was starting to think that the only way to shred like this was to know economy picking but youve just revealed to me that you can do this alternate picking, is economy picking really a necesity for shredding?

  • @jacksonguitars93

you can pick the way suits you better

  • @tziras i thought the only way to shred was economy picking too! :P thanks for clearing it up

  • @jacksonguitars93 why did you need Ziras to prove it to you? Look at Paul Gilbert and John Petrucci, that said I still use economy picking but I'm after a different sound

  • @jacksonguitars93 dude whats economy picking?. pretty noobish question but please humor me.

  • @livetorocknroll88 economy picking is quite similar to sweep picking because instead of doing the "up, down, up, down, up down etc." (alternate picking) motion, you go "down, down" or "up, up" on the next string.

  • @livetorocknroll88 lol its not really a noobish question lol but its a picking style to where instead of going up down up down (alternate picking) your going up down down up down down (economy picking)..its kind of hard to see it sometimes with your eyes when their going real fast but economy picking is another way to shred. i tried learning it once but i found alternate picking alot more suitable for me, but if i were you id try it just to see if youd be good at it.

  • @jacksonguitars93 Thanks man, tat was helpful. Im gonna try it now. cheers :)

  • @jacksonguitars93 I think I remember William Lewitt's A Method for Guitar Vol. 1 stressing out the importance of both techniques. It also stated that in the long run. alternate picking should prove more versatile and useful. t also said that a guitar player should master both. Dunno, though, as it is an older method, for a more jazzy approach of the instrument... :/

  • what string gauge do you recommend for this king of shredding ?

  • @cascaso1

    9's

  • @tziras what about pick thickness ?

  • @cascaso1

    3mm

  • eh, a little rough on the sweeps. phrasing could be better i think. but definitely beyond my ability. good job man.

  • @redgibson1

there is no phrasing at all on this video..

this is just "Harmonic Minor Shredding" as the title says

  • Comment removed

  • @fastguitar9

    yes..all the way

  • what effects pedal do you use?

  • @fastguitar9

    Line6 POD X3

  • mm this is really good but it was hard to listen to cause some of those licks were so out of time :/ good effort though, i cant play like that :P

  • damn man with any vid you supri9se the shit out of me :-)

great shredding, the only thing i hate....is that you make it look so simple...you dont even see your fingers move .....sigh..good job man!! awesome, you should definatly get your ass in a band or something!

  • @tgstk2

it is simple...it is just a matter of practicing

  • plateau's, peak's, valley's, ridge's, it was all there... :) subbed...

  • How to define music has long been the subject of debate; philosophers, musicians, and, more recently, various social and natural scientists have argued about what constitutes music. The definition has varied through history, in different regions, and within societies. Definitions vary as music, like art, is a subjectively perceived phenomenon.

  • Its definition has been tackled by philosophers of art, lexicographers, composers, music critics, musicians, semioticians or semiologists, linguists, sociologists, and neurologists. Music may be defined according to various criteria including organization, pleasantness, intent, social construction, perceptual processes and engagement, universal aspects or family resemblances, and through contrast or negative definition.

  • i love the harmonic minor scale, the sharped 7th is so cool, nice chops bro,

  • i love the harmonic minor scale, the sharped 7th makes it cool. nice chops bro,

  • PLEASE LET ME STATE FOR THE RECORD: THIS IS BADASS. I LIKE THIS A LOT. KEEP IT UP MAN!

  • Some cool shredding Theo!

You should tidy up that beard!

  • i know it's hard to do and very complicated to play but it's not a beautiful music , sorry

  • @abdakka0

    read the title please...!!!

  • @abdakka0 are you kidding me? this is very beautiful you are a butcher!

  • Like you did videos on Sus2, Sus4 and add9 chords, could you please do the same for all the other types of chords, such as dim, dim7, dim7b5, aug, min7 and min7b5 chords?

It would be even better if you could then show us how to adjust all these different chords to use them in metal. I am very eager to know this.

After watching your Sus and add videos, I finally understand them, but there are still many other types I have no idea about, and I'm sure it's the same for a lot of others.

    Thanks.

  • @lmeddick

i will do it very soon

  • @tziras

Thank you so much! I am so grateful for your videos!

  • LoL nice

  • you know if you removed the generic drums and bass you could do stuff thats more melodic and not so much just notes and scales.while its good to be in a key of somesort just scales sound very dim and lifeless.

  • Nice playing

    Didn't care for the sound

  • what is your guitar tuned to?

  • @monkeyskins666

    standard E

  • #31

  • man u gotta love them sweeps... took me a hack of a long time to learn how to do that... nice shred but i dont like your tone... its kinda weak like u scooped the mids too much... but nvm, this is a friendly hello from your neighbor in serbia... and i have a request... could u make a song or just a couple riffs that sounds like Slayer... because u play everything through scales and i would like to see u play something that has nothing to do with scales (like Slayer), just sounds good...

  • @nikolacar07

    i will do it soon...

    check my Locrian scale video...

    Slayer use this scale alot

  • I have a question. Which scale would you use to get Chinese sounding melody? It would be cool if you could do a demonstration on how to get that sound :)

  • @SSJThree

Kumoi is a great sounding scale

    1 2 b3 5 6...played over a minor chord

  • i hate you ziras. in a good way of course :)

  • youve got to tell me what amps and pedals your using

  • @ggskater

    just Line 6 POD X3

  • soooooooo boring. its like watching someone wank off for 5 minutes.

  • @neveronyx both processes cause massive jizz

  • @neveronyx a girl?

  • i have the notes down and the movement, but i just dont have the SPEED! please help me, any tips how i can get it down even moderately fast?

  • @Ps3capt

Months and months of practice ;)

Took me 3 years to play this fast.

  • @Ps3capt

if you want to play fast you must firstly play slow

  • @tziras not necessarily true, thats just the textbook way to do it. but i find people like myself plateau practicing like that. for me the fastest way has always been speed first then clean it up later. its like jumping into a situation being forced to figure it out as you go. it seems to bring out results the fastest way for me. i kinda just said screw it and started practicing like that and finally i was able to play fast clean accurate stuff. it depends on the person i guess.

  • well done! amazing! but you need better recording equipment ;)

  • very amazing

  • What scales compliment the harmonic minor? I really like yngwie, and I know he uses diminished. Are there any others that work?

  • @Biake22

Harmonic Minor is Aeolian with major 7th degree

so Aeolian works also great ...

Yngwie use dimished arpeggios...not dimished scale

  • @tziras are you it's the 7th scale degree that is raised? i thought it was the 7th note.

  • @SamyazaLovatt

    7th degree=7th note

  • @Biake22 The hungarian minor works really well with the harmonic minor too, just raise the 4th from the root a half step for simplicity. (Y)

  • @Biake22 You can play the major scale with a sharpened fifth (ionian augmented) on the third note of the harmonic minor scale. Ionian augmented is within the harmonic minor key.

  • I bet you are the best teacher in your area, some people might say "a musician's life is hard" but If the musician is good he can earn 400$ in a day! or more..

  • What a bunch of crying titty-babies. This was a badass fuckin video. You're always posting great tutorials and work. Don't worry about the haters. We all still love you. Thanks for all you do for us. \m/

  • Very excellently played Theodore. I admire your work greatly, and I have just recently been trying to experiment with shredding techniques such as this. Hats off to the player. Have a good day.

  • @mynameisray oh my god you're a faggot

the title says shredding not "music with substance"

  • Great guitar playing dude! :D

  • man.. if people don't like shredding, then they shouldn't watch this..

I like it.. good job, Theodore! :)

  • I found this to be very entertaining. What i don't like is the switching back and forth of the cameras! stay on one camera and let me just watch what you're doing. and no need to look at me while i'm watching. that's what i say to my wife, too. kudos to you the left handed guitarist, i dont think to many people notice that the video is flipped around. too busy watching your crazy fingers! great job, brother!

  • damn that not bad for the technical stand point

  • this is awesome! it definitely sounds like music to my ears!

  • regardless if it suits "your musical needs" for it to be called music, this still takes a good amount of talent and practice. cool stuff man

  • Theo you are badass! Are you based in London or was that just for a little while?

  • @CGLmusic

i live and work in Athens

i was studying in Lond 10 years ago

but i am visiting london very often

  • It's just noise dude, so you can play some scales really fast but it just sounds awful.. It's like an old Atari video game with blips and beeps, why not play some actual music that has some substance to it.

  • @mynameisray

the title is pretty easy to understand...

this is not music...this is Shredding

  • @tziras ..no way man, shredding is music too!ha ha

  • @tziras This is music, every guitar technique is for music, and i like your playing very much, just screw this asshole.

  • @tziras sloppy shreddng

  • @mynameisray Watch his other videos. He doesn't usually play this style, he's just giving an example of shredding. Also, just because you don't like it doesn't make it not music. Many people like the sound of shredding, and I personally can hear the individual scales and the chords that he's playing over, so if it's just noise to you, maybe it's an opportunity to practice devoloping your musical ear.

  • @AmAY259

    Tell 'em Ray! Tell 'em!

  • @mynameisray ...we mock what we don't understand

  • @mynameisray The stuff you have on your channel isn't music at all. It's just racial garbage. Nigger this nigger that, what a bunch of crap!

  • @mynameisray I do agree with you dude. I mean this guy is talented speed and timing wise. There's no chance I could ever play this fast but yeah I do think it's more about feel than speed.

  • @mynameisray

Your a moron dude. This is more of a technical demonstration then a song.

And shredding can fit a song and work well most of the time. It just depends how you use it.

  • @mynameisray hey ray, stick to need for speed jerkoff

  • Comment removed

  • I like how he occasionally looks up with that "Are you gettin' all this?" look in his eye

  • excellent!

  • Do you mute the strings with your thum or with your palm?

  • @dieandgoaway

    with my palm....

  • bueno : )

  • That's crazily insane man.. wow

  • Well played Theodore Ziras!

  • this was great, but can u play blues? (just curious) :)

  • @LeriChichinadze

i am not an expert to blues style like Bonamassa

but i can play a little bit

i did few videos allready...just search

  • che tristezza...

  • This fella here looks like he lives in him mom's basement and does nothing but melt-his-face kind of shredding.

  • @drawrings

i live on my own since i was 18 years old...

and i am doing also many other things than shredding (...joking !!)

  • @tziras but when are you going to give back to africa? selfish..... ????

  • @drawrings lol yea. He was put on the list of 50 fastest guitarists of all time, ABOVE such amazing guitarists as Loomis or Buckethead. Check on his website if you wanna.

  • @drawrings Which is better than you will ever do? So why are you even talking shit?

  • @666mrawesome You need to chill out. 'Face-melting shredding' is cool. You are correct that I will never play like this; my comment was said in light humor. Society needs to chill out and stop walking on egg-shells. Next time you address me, please do not use artless, lowbrow vernacular-isms. Chump.

  • am i the only one who thought this was a tutorial but is still happy because he plays AWSOMEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @masteratemu

this is not a tutoria...this is just Shredding in "A" Harmoning Minor

  • guitar looks like one for lefties

  • @bostonhomeland

it is leftie....the video is mirrored

  • awesome man, and ur guitar is tuned in?...

  • @Megadeth3463

the guitat is in tune...but my playing is sloppy !!

  • @tziras I think he was asking what tuning your guitar is in, is it standard tuning? Eb? D? etc...

Awesome playing by the way! Not sloppy at all.

  • @AmphibiousGamers

it is in standard tuning "E"

  • isnt that guitar a pain to tune?

  • @l0c0r0c0411 for the first time yeah but if u understand it, it isn't so hard at all

  • @l0c0r0c0411

the guitat is in tune...but my playing is sloppy !!

  • @tziras he meant that is that guitar hard to tune??

  • @PeikkoKuningas95

know i got it !!!... no it is not hard to tune....

  • @tziras hell no! thats freakin amazing! ive been playing electric guitar for about 2 years and i cant even get close to doing anything like that. i just went to guitar center and i was looking at the guitar u were playing on and they said it was a pain to tune. so i got the ibanez art 100 cherry red
