this sort of seems smart arse and clever and it is a good impersonation of John Cleese but it's pretty easy to just say let's have a shot at everythign on Monty Python in a list really, not hard to come up with at all and alot of the lines were irrelevant to Python cos they were out of Fawlty Towers, still being a Python fan it was funny, wonder what John Cleese would make of it bieng the father of taking the piss out of establishment himselg, ironic this sketch is taking the piss out of him
I think the joke is on those who think it is a tribute..... That sketch epitomizes everything that was so stupid about monty python.... they just parodied it...making fun of what python did..in bad light if you did not notice.
As much as monty python did some good stuff.... most of it was absolute rubbish that made no sense what so ever and went no where.
@UltimaPowers You know that the Chaser actually take a lot of Python ideas and modernise them. in a way lots of the Python stuff has made it into the Chaser style. Take the times where Hansen rings up the ABC (" what a waste of tax payers money"). It is a bit like the letters that are sent in Python. In a way some aspects of the chasers are very similar to monte python.
That was quite embarassing, like watching a toddler re-enacting his favourite moments from the new Transformers movie or something... Love the Chasers but that was just arm gnawingly cringe worthy.

Have I ever seen Python? Yes. All of it, every single episode, all the films, all the side projects (Palin & Jones' Ripping Yarns, Cleese's Fawlty Towers, Idle's Rutles & Rutland Weekend Television) and I'm currently reading a compilation of Michael Palin's diaries from 1969 to 1979, from the inception of Python to its dissolution.
Does that answer your question?
I will say though that this guys Cleese impersonation is pretty good, but otherwise they should stick to their own style...

Australia should never try and immitate english humour, ever. English humour = funny australian humour = terrible you just cant pull it off this sketch was the worst thing i have ever seen
In the first couple of seasons of the original TV show there was a knight in shining armour who used to slap people with a chicken... also the fish slapping dance in S3.
After years and centuries of being told by the west, Australia has shock the shackles of westren-cultralism and laughed at British tradtions of comdey. Brave ho Mr Schmidkins.
Are links prohibited or something? I tried to tell people to check Goodness Gracious me series 1 ep 5 part 1 for a brilliant parody of the cheese-shop and parrot sketches, and the comment didn't appear... It's not even on my site, I just thought Python fans would be interested...
OMG it IS John Cleese. Meanwhile Chris seems to be a weird mix between Eric Idle and Michael Palin. Oh, and i saw the twit sketch, funny walks sketch, Gumby sketches, self-defense against fruit sketch, the fish-slapping dance and an uncanny impersonation of every one of Terry Jones' 'female characters'. Any i missed?
I Don't know if you mentioned it but when andrew puts on that long nose isn't that a copy of Monty python and the holy Grail's whitch scene where the townspeople dress up that women to look like a witch and they put on that fake nose
WOW! I love the Chasers and I love British Comedy, but the scary thing here is that Andrew Hansen ACUALLY sounds like John Cleese! This is too good! [1 tonne!]
Love it - slapping him with the fish, "I'm gonna do something so bizarre comedy nerds will be copying it for decades," and the voices were quite spot on.
I'm pretty sure that they showed the studio audience an edited clip rather than performing it in front of them. Otherwise they'd probably have just thought he had a heart attack after all.

john cleese would find this funny because he's got a good sense of humour

That seemed a lot more like a tribute than a parody.
Because Chasers War is obviously very much influenced by the Python gods and because, well, Monty Python really is exactly like that. XD
