Is it difficult to learn cello? I'm 14 and thinking of taking it up. :)

@brokentreeswing ahh.. the perfect age to start playing an instrument...

as far as your inquiry goes.. im not too sure lol..

im an avid musician myself but i've never had any real experience with any of the bow instruments (violin, fiddle, cello etc) but in my dealings with people who have i've heard the cello and violin described as extremely difficult to learn to play.. and im assuming its even more so without any general knowledge of music and how all C instruments work..

@brokentreeswing the only advice i can give is if you're really interested in learning the cello dont just go out and get one take it home and try to play parabolic cosmos or something from yo yo ma lol..

what you should do is if your school has a music theory class.. take it.. learn how to read music.. learn about all the different scales and properties that exist behind the scenes of the music you hear every day.. then.. if you're still interested in learning to play the cello..
