Same predicament as you are in , but in my option go try to get a scholarship and study for what you will do and you got a job and you won't be drafted probably so you, in my will have a job,be respected, and not be in te field
I have so many marines fellow friends are station here in ''MCBH'' Marine crops base hawaii. But if you have any regarding question about the marine crop ask me? I know it was easy to enlist back in when president bush was elective, in other case obama screw things up we need more technical skill or higher education standards.
If you have the heart to be a Marine you will be a Marine thats what set Marines apart ,the heart, curage and commitment ,honor.. your thinking about joining the Marines their you go right there ,dude hold your breath and just jump into it ... stop listing to everyone just do what makes you happy , no ones parent want them to go really its natral but evn if you do get deployed just take online classes or make the classes up when you get back marines only deplloy for 5-6 months......

Dude do whatever you want. I'm not a marine but I think it would be a good choice for anybody, and depending on your certain job you might or might not see action. I've been doing a lot of research into it because I'm in the delayed entry program and ive wanted to join since I was a little kid. Sadly though I still have another year before i can leave cause I have to finish highschool.
Go reserve. Take one semester off. It'll shape you in your prime age, and with college at the same time will make you a really interesting person. That's what I'm doing. I'm gonna take off my Fall 2012 semester off because of the 6 months of training.

You Gain Experience Etc But I Thought About It Nd I Would First Go To The Military As A Back Up Rememebr All Military Branches Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force Nd Coast Guard All aRe The Same Just Different Perks
Don't join the Marines unless its something you really want to do. I plan on join The Corps in '13 when I graduate from HS.
