Thats rediculous I play roller hockey for AIHL minors and u dont have to jump up befor u drop down. Its much harder to move in roller I find but butterflying is the same concept. and this goalie doesnt kno how to hold his blocker or glove or catch anything for that matter. dont watch this guy play

Hey guys, great video. I am a goalie I play both Ice and Roller. Roller it is tougher to get across the net quickly... because you can't slide as far. There are some different movements in ice, like shuffling and pushing across the net when you are already down. In roller, sometimes I stack the pads and do a goalie "Cartwheel" throwing my legs up and rolling on my shoulders and head to get across... both ice and roller are very fun.

we use pucks jsut as heavy as a ice hockey puck? i vs ice hockey team in inline and owned them 10-2 bc they thought they were big shots bc ice is aparently harder. and they pertened they didnt try.

@102o7 The puck might be just as heavy but trust me, the ice hockey puck is like 10 times more dense. I've played against pucks just as heavy as ice hockey pucks on roller and it didn't hurt at all compared to the ice hockey puck and the roller hockey pucks were shot harder.

@102o7 Ice and roller are two different animals. Switching from ice to roller isn't easy even for players and its even harder for goalies. I'm sure if your roller team played an ice hockey team on ice, they would have taken you guys to school no problem either.

@AllStarGoalie01 ok? try takin a slap shot from a ball that can change direction mid air cuz of its low density and size. goalies cant over slide cuz most surfaces cant be slid on at all. gettin cut by a skate is a rarity, shut up bout that. if anything, roller hockey is harder. the ball can roll off or bounce off of anything and go into the net or bounce out of the glove, n the fact that its easier to get under the ball to get leverage so anyone can put it top shelf not just pros. ur an idiot

@AllStarGoalie01 the thing that sucks about playing roller is that you can't slide at all. You just get stuck. You gotta change your whole technique. I'm on a roller team right now.. I'd way rather play ice hockey. All the roller hockey kids are pussies and bitch about getting bumped. I think ice hockey is way easier. WHy do you keep talking about getting cut by a skate? I've never got cut with a skate before? Wear a neck guard. Everything else is protected.

@AllStarGoalie01 actually you are correct on a few things, not on all. the puck in roller hockey is about half to two thirds the wieght makeing snap shot and wrist shots faster as well as there is about an 1/8 gap between the puck and the surface making it much easier to go upstairs from poor body position and tighter in. add that o a more open surface four on four with less emphisis on d. plus try all that on a slightly wet floor and you would bee surprised...i play both a lot

You know I agree with you that roller hockey is lesser than ice hockey, having played ice hockey most of my life. But I dont think it is for those that cant play real hockey, I can see it being a good alternative for those players in climates where it isnt really suitable for ice rinks even in the winter time. I play both. You don't have to jump when you butterfly in roller, but it is harder than ice. Just taking away sliding makes it 10 times more difficult. He's doing it way wrong

Because he is on inline blades. They aren't the same as ice goalie skates where they are dull enough so you are able to just drop down. In inline hockey there is always friction between the players blades and floor. Rubber wheels against rubber like floor; not metal blade against ice.
