@mransar1000: ...and yes, the technology was nowhere near what it is today, nevertheless it was possible to record fairly decently...and don't forget "digital enhancement" :)
I wouldn't say that he is greater then Iqbal? We are comparing apples to oranges in this case.
Faiz was a revolutionary of his generation and definitely Urdu has not produced a better poet then Faiz...however Iqbal was at different time and was in different time frame and no can write like Iqbal too...he had a different mission so we can agree that Sialkot produced two great poets, I am jealous.
Remember! Lahore was and still is one of the centers for Urdu literature. Punjabis have done a lot of and a very fine contribution to Urdu! So, whoever says otherwise, is a jahil him/herself!
It isn't like comparing apples to oranges...While Iqbal lived in the future(saw the dream); Faiz lived the present (lived the horrors of Iqbal's dream), so there is a deeper connection between the two poets.
Iqbal was essentially a philosopher, but his Urdu poetry didn't always uphold grammatical integrity, for that he was often criticized as well.
Poetic excellence of Faiz lies in the lyrical quality of his ghazals, which is evident by the number of his ghazals rendered with music.

Dear Mansoorn God bless you for sharing this treasure with us."Faiz kay chay janay say Pakistan bay-faiz ho gia. Allah Tallah Unhain ghareeq-y-Rehmat kray, AAmeen.
Azhar bhai, I agree with you. Ab to Log, wasi shah, Basheer Badar, Ahmed Faraz jesy chutia logon ko Shaer samjhty hain. Is se bari badnaseebi aur kya ho gi k tuk bandi karny walon ko hamari universities apny syllabus main parha rahi hain.
I still remember the day Faiz died in Lahore. He was staying with his daughter and son in law, Hashmi.
During his Nimazi-Jenaza, the Soviet ambassador (who was there with a huge bouque of flowers) stood respectfully to one side. Afterwards, in a brief speech, he said that he grew up reading Faiz's poems in high school. Actor Muhammad Ali was there, so was Mirza Ibrahim, the labour leader. There were a large number of Palestinian students there too.
Madame's voice just adds so much dimension to the desolation and hoplessness that the poetry creates, and this is amplified by the very lack of music. Superb ambient effort, and yet almost unwittingly achieved by the very fact of their genius. Just...wow!
wow what a treat to listen to madam noor jehan with great faiz mansoor bahi i'm very greatfull to you for this timeless lovely uplod it can't get any batter then this awsome.

Faiz is considered by many to be the 4th greatest urdu poet of all times after Ghalib, Mir and Iqbal.
Mata-e-loh o qalam chchin gye to kia ghum hai
