  • I respect Cox for her pluck, and Gibbs for at least seeming to care to give a real and thoughtful answer.

  • This girl is too pretty to be walking around with a man's haircut and no makeup.

Ana, please let that beautiful blond hair grow long and embrace, don't fight, your femininity!

  • What a stupid neanderthal law! We must have zero tolerance for don't ask don't tell. The only ones that DON't need to be in the military are the ones who support it. I'm tired of the tail wagging the dog when it comes to stupid retarded conservative dumbasses wrecking our country with destructive ignorant stupid policy based on their ignorance and short sightedness. LUDICROUS!!

  • When you are telling the truth, you can speak clear. What does this tell you........

  • Wow, you made Gibbs stutter... NOBODY has ever done that before! Ha haaaa

  • I look forward's to Ana's article on repealing DADT.

  • Congress has to be involved because DADT was enacted as a federal statute. It is codified in 10 USC 654. Obama cannot repeal that statute. Congress must repeal it (or a court must declare it to be unconstitutional).

The difference between Truman's order and what we have today is that the previous racial segregation was not under federal statute, so the President could simply issue an order.

  • hmmm... would that have been your statement on a video of Bush's press secretary saying this? Highly doubtful. And you can repeal congressional orders.

  • Wow a reportet that makes polititians nervouse what a novel idea

  • According to The Advocate, Rep. Howard Berman says that a major statement and some sort of action on LGBT issues will be coming from the White House in the next month, before the anniversary of the Stonewall uprising, i.e. before gay pride festivities can get underway in most cities.

I think this means Obama will do or say just enough to make gay rights activists look silly for complaining, but ultimately substantive change will be put delayed or dismissed as we have come to expect.

  • I believe his heart is in the right place, but maybe he is waiting till his second term to take decisive action.

  • Well if so that is simply unacceptable.

  • Gibbs wasn't his usual obnoxious flippant self, but instead took the road of effusively blathering absolute nothingness.

  • Wow that spokesman is good at delay, distract, deflect, deny. But, fact is, Obama has the power to immediately halt any findings of homosexuality, and can certainly intervene in court proceedings to help people facing discharge. Obama is Commander in Chief, not Congress.

  • Candidate Obama committed himself to ending DADT and now as president he's not keeping his own word. It's already long past time for him to end this divisive and disgusting policy.

  • The Obama adminstration is once again out in left field on this one. There is no law on the books that was passed by congress that desegregated the armed forces. It was done 100% by executive order. That order, nearly 50 years old, has kept the armed forces desegregated, just like an executive order can end DADT.

  • Wonderful job asking the tough questions Ana Marie! DADT is ridiculous. totally agree

  • oh SO cute, esp. at 0:19 and 0:42 and the day before when she's trying to get to speak

she had good articulate questions, and DADT is ridiculous, glad she's asking about it and I'm glad she got called upon and stuff. he said quite a long answer

  • She's so cute!

  • Good video as usual

  • Excellent questions/excellent delivery.

  • YESSSS!!!
