Thank you so much for sharing this video...I was at the Top of The Pops studio watching Marc Bolan perform an man he was terrific !!! I was 13 yrs old then going on 17 yrs.....
@mickleem Look closely at Marc he isn't actually singing or playing his guitar, look closely at Steve currie neither is he, look closely at Michey Finn blah blah blah. look closely at your comment, why did you make it?
Aww, all those girls dancing will be in their late fifties/early sixties now...Still, they can look at this vid and think 'Didn't we look fekkin great!' :)
I was only 12 when this song hit number one, I remeber all the girls at school were totally obsessed with Marc Bolan and when he died, there were girls weeping everywhere, so gifted and so tragic
Great to get this up - thanks brekkaboys. Marc performed braw must have been hard tho'. Think Steve Took looked well smacked out tho'poor sod. Wasn't that Mickey Finn miming the drums tho,. Fking chancer!
Oh well Marc will live forever, Steve will too, and Mickey Finn....think not.
@60adl LOL@Fking chancer!!!!!!!!!!! reminds me of my dad(he's always calling people chancers,if they are mind!!!) still it tickled me, thanks for that ive had probably the worst morning of my life+you defo made me chuckle!!!
Another great vid with Marc singin live over the track, totp etc didnt let anyone play live very often, imagine the chaos with bands equipment if they did especially back then.

oooh-what a yummy rare treat!! Marc was so young and beautiful here- makes me sad that I never got to see him- but I was a newborn when this originally aired! Thanks for sharing this with Marc's old and NEW fans- 45,000+ views 3 decades after his death shows exactly what kinda star Marc was and is...absolutely amazing.
I remember watching this actual totp, I was 9 years old then.... scary how time passes so fast. I think he's brilliant and would have been an epic if he had lived.
Some of the 6 weeks while the band were at number one TOTP showed a video instead. The band were doing a national tour and couldn't always get to London for the show.
forestgumpaed....they appeared in person, this is why people mis-interpretated the meaning of live,on to the song(one of many).yet another huge hit for the mighty t.rex.they had a tremendous following.great song at the time, but seems dated now.
IIRC March 25th 1971. The other T.Rex performance was from the 11th of March 1971 - that one is shown from the ZDF archive - this one is from the BBC archive and but it kept Lynn Anderson from number one at this period.
This was number 1 on the day I was born. 11th April 1971!
