Ages ahead of its time. There was NOTHING like these style shifts back then. It was like Amorphis took an arrogant shit on the entire metal scene of the 90's, while being completely oblivious of it.
You know i hate when people bash the new amorphis these days. Yes it's an opinion but i think their new sound shows how much atmosphere they can put in their songs. I've listen to everything they have to offer and i like it all. One day ill tell you this is the best album, then ill tell you tommorow that silent waters is.
I like them as what they were, are, and how they will be. But i think they are finally showing their potential, you can tell they are more creative than before.
??? You kidding right? That beat is revolutionar, it has nothing to do with selling out. It's your problem if you can't accept something that isn't just growling and rawness. I' mean really, do you think if a band isn't limiting itself their are fags, or what? And please, selling out??? how old are you. They are a band, they live for it and of it, so they need to sell. You will probably get that when you'll be 18 or 19.

Listen their first EP "Privilege of Evil and The Karilean Isthmus and then listen to this album and tell me their style had not become more commercial? Axl Rose style Vocals?? I like this album, never said i didn't, and actually like ALL kinds of music (i have other youtube channels for different music). I just call it like it is. YOU just ended your comment by admitted they "need" too sell.
Don't worry, i have listened to all of their albums. And this is not about taste. I have respect about all tastes. It's about if somebody tries to make something diffrent, his selling out.

Its not about making something different. Techno beats?? Big coincidence that Techno was very popular at that time huh? But nooooo they were just doing something different, not trying to alter their roots to sell records huh? I don't get why you just cant admit that thats what they were doing...Don't mean its wrong... Those beats have nothing to do with techno beats.It's just a normal kick forced by their bass.And please,you really think that they did that because they thought that by adding a "techno" kick of like 10sec,in a metal album of almost an hour would made their sales better...You could say that today amorphis's music isn't so honest as it was,and that maybe their are looking to comofrt their sound to the market,but that album was a masterwork.Honest and unique in every aspect

@haarmegiddo I like Amorphis how they are - and this album.. this song.. it would be just another metal song that i probably wouldn't buy. BUT they added something that i haven't heard much of it's great the fusion they have here. Just my two cents :)
