i remember this... last show at JFK stadium... It was so damn hot, still.. it was a rainbow full of sound. I'm somewhere in the Phil Zone, only 15 yrs old, lost in the sunshine daydream.

What a great show this was ! It left a smoking crater in my mind , I like it blown away ! But we did leave JFK a Brokedown Palace It was FUBAR , Retired . Thanks for the post and the reminder ;^)
Great moment the other day. I was dragged to this resturant by my mom (old dead head) and her college room mate. im a young dead head (15). This place was not a super fancy place but i would say it was a pretty high class joint. I was wearing a Furthur shirt i got at a show at MSG. Just when i was about to say to them, "what the fuck am i doing here again?" this guy, i think the manager, walks up and ses "Good shows man?" and i was just like "Hell ya man!" Awesome. wE ArE eVeRyWhErE
Was there... remember getting word that they might evacuate us.. some gas leak or something.. last show at JFK.. best venue ever... 'gone are the days...'
Massive show! If not the "best" all-around show I've ever attended, it was certainly in the Top Three (two of them being from 89'). 89" was a great year!
One of the best show's I ever attended!!!!!!! I remember it was so hot and getting soaking wet when they turned on the indoor water fountain. All my cigs and shit got trashed, But I had Jerry and Brent, so I didn't care!! :)
jerry was all shaky and looked in pain while singing... he could barely physical function. it's amazing that he played complete shows during this period.
@lavawaffle You might be speaking of 85-86 when he collapsed in 86'. Through his comeback in 87' and through to 89' (this video), he was mostly sober or at least off the hard stuff. He always looked like he was struggling to sing though, it was his "style".
@blewj He probably bought the bad acid! lol. I saw a guy there that was walking through shards of glass in the parking lot, in his bare feet. He was bent over and banging on the sides of his head with his fists, yelling oooh ohhhh oooh ohhhh oooh ohhhh. Maybe that was him? LOL
Memories: I was in the Navy, living at the Naval hospital on the corner of Broad and Pattison.I went for a run around the hospital and found a small bag of weed. I gave it to a couple of hippie looking dudes. I had short hair but i was wearing a Bob Dylan t-shirt so i guess they trusted me.
I deeply love the Grateful Dead. I wish I had been to more than one show. I wish I had been to something other than Deer Creek 1995. I wish I hadn't been so drained from my first LSD experience so I could've enjoyed the show more fully. I could wish a lot of things, but it keeps coming back to I deeply love the Grateful Dead. I'm so happy that music is eternal, even if musicians are not. God bless you, Jerry.
What a dump JFK was. Sitting in the stands on a brutally hot day, looking down through the holes in the concrete bleaches at the ground way below. Great show!
I just kept seeing the same people doing circles around the perimeter of the field where I sat maybe five or six rows up just above it. And this I will never forget... this young guy, a high school student as it turned out, walks by(like many others doing "the walk") and looks up and stares at the woman sitting next to me. So she says (half screaming) to the kid, "It's alright, I spoke to your sister." So I turn to her and without me even asking she says, "He's one of my students!" I laughed.
My face melted before I got into the stadium. I remember Bruce Hornsby opened. I ventured down to the floor to cool off under the hoses and mistakenly thought I had any chance a finding my way back to the people I came with.
Was there too - took my nephew (4 at the time) for his first dead concert - he fell asleep & has never lived that down in our family. Lullabyed by the dead. Great show!
i was in that crowd somewhere...was an awesome show..i remember the people working at the gates all left at intermission...so everyone that was in the parking lot that didnt have a ticket got in to see the second set...estimated 130,000 people where in there to give this place a final farewell....unbelievable
I would give my left nut to go to a GD show.
