these motors 6 bolt or 7 bolt are all considered "imports" in japan. These are american built cars with american built motors.

the only american motor from the dsm's are the non turbo motors. 4g63's came from the earlier evos and progress on.

Funny how Evos only started being made in 1992. I think you mean "Lancer". Even then they may have been using the SOHC version of the engine. I know the Galant VR-4 was the first to use the DOHC version from the start.

The engines were, however, made in Japan. VR-4s got the first turbo'd 4g63's too.

There are 2 versions of the 4g63. The usdm version and the jdm. The jdm motor had different intake, injectors, and alot of the time turbo's. The motors came from the vr4's not the evo. Evo 3 motors will not work in any dsm. The 1g and 2g motors will built here the 2g is no different.

@90gsxBIG from 1989-1992 they had the 6bolt engine from 1992.5 through 1999 they had the 7 bolt engine.. everyone swaps in a 6bolt they are strong comparing stock to stock

@inlinesk8r The 7 bolt motor was changed in the last 2 months of '97. The 98-99 7 bolts are as good as it gets you just can't find them. That's why everyone is using 6 bolts because they are easier/cheaper. The 98-99 7 bolts didn't crankwalk. I have a 98 GSX and I am building a 2.3 stroker from my original block and it'll make about 600whp when we are done.

@DatManGsx thats interesting not saying your wrong i dont know an extreme amount about these cars but i went to a DSM meet and everyone was telling me the 7 bolts have a tendence to crankwalk more then the 6 bolts this was at a place called boss inovations its a all DSM and evo shop out in tacoma

Actually normal, illinois power.... thats where these cars were made.. there is nothing japanese about these they were made in America. DSM Diamond Star motors is an alliance between Mitsubishi and Chrysler.

there is a replacement for displacement its all forced induction... (displacement on demand basically...) There is a rwd eclipse running the 2 liter 46g3 engine that makes well over 1000whp and run into the 6's close to 200mph in the quarter.....

well with fuel you need air... this is when forced induction comes into play... I actually have a 92 tsi awd talon very similar to this one and it recently went 11.1 @ 129mph.... not to bad for a 3150lb car on street tires... I am also on a stock trans, intake manifold and throttle body...
