In 60 days there will be no more charter, connection, or international flights to Congonhas; all of those flights will be redirected to (the much larger) Cumbica international airport(GRU). In 90 days, they will announce the location where a (long overdue) new airport will be built.
Acording to news I've just read, there was a defect in the right thrust reverser of the aircraft, and the same plane had experienced difficulties landing at the same airport the day before, on a flight from from Minas Gerais.
I've always hated flying in/out of that airport, and being someone that usually flies through there every year, I think both of Sao Paulo's airports need to be remodeled/updated.
In any event, it's a horrible unfortunate tragedy that was waiting to happen. Fact is that the airport is old, small, overused and the runway was too short/inadequate for the conditions. It's possible that upon landing, the pilot may have realized the seriousness of the runway conditions, and tried to abort - this would explain the excessive speed at the end of the runway, and the fact he apparently never engaged the thrust reversers.
This video is doctored-up, and is complete crap.. They're trying to say that the slower moving plane is another plane that landed earlier, then compare it to the one that crashed. Truth is, IT'S THE SAME PLANE, only in slow motion. Notice that the video of the first plane is mysteriously cropped, and is missing the date/time information.. shame on the media for trying to suggest pilot error.
Please take note that the first shot was also zoomed in a bit and doesn't capture as much as the second shot - obviously stuff was cut off - The runway has been criticized for being to short by pilots in the past.
you can also see a other inconsistent things between the video - did you even watch it or just glance at it and run to the comment section to expose your conspiracy?
It's possible that it's not doctored-up, but it's quite difficult to say for sure, as the video is of poor quality, and it looks like it was filmed off of a monitor. I agree that there are certain discrepancies between the two clips, such as a flashing light in the distance, but it's difficult to determine if the discrepancies are caused by the video encoding.
I conceed that my statement/conclusion may be incorrect, but it is very suspicious that first video doesn't show the time information - it seems like that'd be something they'd want to focus on.
CHeck this video and you'll see both plane from different security cameras in different angles. They explain that it seems the pilot didn't even try to stop the plane, and that the first plane was same model, same airline.
O piloto deveria ter tentado o vôo novamente, mas é apenas comentário, não entendo disso.

The reverse thrusters had been deactivated previously on the plane. That's why it was travelling so fast during landing and couldn't stop in time.

Damn they were going fast for the end of the runway. Must've been hydro-planing the whole way...

pilot error? how about designer error? A lot of South
American runways are a nightmare. I say they realized they were up the creek and were trying to take off to try it again.

Actually, it is under investigation, and not an official defect.

I think there is a time information but it looks like the first video is offset so the time/date would be hide up on the screen.
